Lucky I am on nights :sleep

Cheers CUB. I've made a copy of the info in the stickied thread and altered the format slightly for future reference at the top of the board. Ta :cheers.

Playing Geelong and Hawthorn only once is good but the first half of next year isn't going to be a picnic. Not the start especially in the first 6 weeks Terry would've been hoping for as far as the draw goes.
Just 4 games too in the first 14 rounds at the 'G ??? although the run home with 7 straight MCG games is good.
Once again we only get 2 home games in the first 6 rounds at a time when you're chasing members. Thanks again Andy D and AA ::).
LOL needing to wait to rounds 20 and 21 to play Collingwood and Hawthorn and it's a farce that we once again play a home game at the Dome against a Dome tenant :banghead. Another home game lost ::).
-
Hmmm not so bad, the early part of the draw will be tough though.
Good news though I get to see the tiges in Sydney again, May 3 happy about that.
-
It seems we only have one of those woeful Sunday "twilight" games
Thanks Gawd!
Another 2 trips to Perth :banghead :banghead
But then again ...we like playing in Perth ;D
3 interstate trips in May = 3 in five weeks is a bit rough :o
-
*sung to a well known tune by the Angels*
Are we ever gonna see the Gabba again ... ?
-

Percentage WP Percentage ;D.
After looking at our draw once again we really will need to beat our bogey sides like North and the Swans if we want to replace them in the finals next year. Get to round 6 at least 3-3 and we should be okay.
-
Ok gone through it and with typical pre season optimism I think we are going to win 14 games with 8 losses and therefore we are going to make the finals.
I am out to get my finals 09 tatoo now ;D

http://www.afl.com.au/Fixture/tabid/10586/default.aspx
The round 1 Carlton game is on at 7.40pm. Not 6pm like this year.

The twilight game vs St Kilda starts at 4.40pm
The rest are the usual times.

Richmond
THE TIGERS look to have kicked a goal, scoring some blockbuster matches and faring reasonably when looking at who they play how many times in 2009.
While the past counts for little heading into a new season, Richmond only faces three finalists twice – those three clubs being the Western Bulldogs, North Melbourne and the Sydney Swans.
The Tigers again kick off the new season against Carlton at the MCG – that match being one of four high-profile encounters on their calendar.
Richmond will also host Essendon in the annual Dreamtime at the 'G game (round nine), as well as Collingwood (20) and Hawthorn (21).
All four matches will help the Tigers' bottom line, while those two late-season clashes are the only times Terry Wallace's men have to face both the Magpies and Hawks during the home and away season.
Richmond plays 11 games at the MCG, with seven straight between rounds 15 and 21, which could encourage a run close to the finals.
There are also five games at Etihad Stadium, formerly Telstra Dome, and five interstate.
One of those road trips is a 'home' match at Gold Coast Stadium, hosting Adelaide in round 14.
An early-season highlight is an Easter Monday clash with the Bulldogs, however, the majority of the club's clashes are on Saturday.
Ten games are on Saturday and eight on Sunday, while the Tigers will feature in Friday night football twice – including the final round of the year when they must travel to Subiaco to take on the West Coast Eagles.

There's 5 theme rounds including a "Green round" (Environment) in round 20 (vs Collingwood)
NAB Cup fixture comes out in a week.
-
Explanation why we travel interstate in round 22:
Round 22 travelling Victorian teams (Richmond to Perth and North Melbourne to Adelaide) are those with the greatest number of years since they travelled for a Round 22 fixture

Really think R1 is critical to Plough's fate.
If we lost we could be going very ordinary by the time we play Brisbane.

You got that right Jake

Richmond CEO Steven Wright:
"Overall we are quite comfortable with the 2009 AFL fixture.
"We believe the draw gives our fans the best opportunity to watch blockbuster matches at the MCG against the likes of Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and Hawthorn.
"The club is looking forward to maintaining its involvement in marquee games in 2009, including the season opener against Carlton, the Dreamtime at the 'G match against Essendon, Easter Monday against the Western Bulldogs and on ANZAC day against North Melbourne.
"We are also delighted to have the opportunity to expand the Richmond brand by playing a home game on the Gold Coast, while not sacrificing a home game at the MCG for our members.
"Tiger fans will be able to watch more games on free to air television in 2009, with 16 games on channel 10 or seven, and six on Foxtel."

Would be nice if he mentioned how ridiculous is it that we play a home game against the Dogs at Etihad
I would rather it was against Melbourne, at least that's not their home ground, I thought playing a home game at the Gold Coast was supposed to get us a few benefits in the draw

Goodbye Terry
-
The Media rating our draw .......
Foxsports
The good: Eleven games at the MCG, just four trips interstate, home game on the Gold Coast; no real excuses for Terry and the Tigers in 2009.
The bad: Only one 'gimme' in the first six weeks as Wallace tries to win himself a contract extension. If Richmond are 1-5 or 2-4 after six weeks the drums will be beating.
Don't miss: The Tigers and Blues battle in the opening game of the season.

ABC
Positives: Only play the 2008 grand finalists once, with the sole clash against Hawthorn not coming until round 21.
Seven of their last eight games are at the MCG and the Tigers will be pleased to avoid a trip to AAMI Stadium to play bogey side Adelaide.
Negatives: Season-opener against Carlton is huge - both for the club and coach Terry Wallace - as it's followed by two very tough encounters against Geelong at Skilled Stadium and the Western Bulldogs at Docklands. Travel to Subiaco in final round to take on West Coast.
Verdict: Wallace has admitted he doesn't expect to get an extension on his coaching contract unless the Tigers see September action in 2009. This draw gives him every chance of a new deal.

The word is Geelong asked the AFL to play "small attendance clubs" at home where they get big $$$ anyway thanks to their deal at Skilled Stadium. Since when does a club with top 4 crowds a small attendance club ::).
The only good thing about it is we play Geelong early in the season (hopefully they haven't hit their straps early on) and our last win against them in 2006 was down the highway (although we got flogged by 70 points down there in 2007 :-\ ). Wallace teams overall have had a fairly decent record at Kardinia Park.

It's going to be interesting to see how Geelong come out playing at the start of next season, apart from their last match they are in stellar form and could easily be seeking to set things right early next season with some defining wins.
The good thing is with the GF rematch in round 1 and the build up for that we may be able to get under their guard in R2 with a serious underdog label.

When will we see the 2009 VFL Draw?

agree!
should be at ES!
that tells me that the AFL and everyone else has no respect for us!
-
When will we see the 2009 VFL Draw?
IIRC it comes out around a month after the AFL draw is released.
-
Let's hope there's no risk to Tiger players given we are forced to play first down at Geelong's dung heap...
Geelong officials are privately fuming over the 6000 tonnes of dirt dumped on Skilled Stadium for last weekend's motorcycle extravaganza.
A 610m track, which included 26 jumps, was put on the lush surface for the Super X series. The club is powerless to stop such events at the ground as the City of Greater Geelong controls the venue.
Geelong is concerned there is a risk of long-term damage to the playing surface, although the council has organised a drop-in wicket to be installed for a Twenty20 cricket match on January 4.
