The Tigers are in good shape injury-wise, with forward Kayne Pettifer, on the comeback from a knee injury, and youngsters Trent Cotchin and Daniel Connors, who have calf/achilles soreness, the only the only restricted players.

Richmond has got 'form' when it comes to playing down player injuries, esp around membership time. That might be why he thinks that.

Yes but dont you get it CUB, thats the RFc in a nutshell.
when all other clubs offloaded their Zac Dawson, Chris Tarrant, and Vanders we kept hacks like Schulz and Pettifer and the sad thing is they will get a game before Rance and Nahas because Wallace is trying to save his career.

Based on yesterday's training you would think Blingers will miss one more week as he was in rehab with Petts and didn't train.
With Petts back then that'll mean Gus will keep the 2nd ruck spot as Browne will have to go back to the rookie list.
-
Why does he (Browne) have to go back...I thought Petts was on LTI list?

That's when he is eligible to come off it. I believe it's up to the club when they actually do it. If he is still training with the rehab group you would think he is not ready to play yet (and thus no need to bring him off the list).

Cousins may return on Anzac Day
richmondfc.com.au
By Mic Cullen
Wed 15 April, 2009
INJURED Tiger trio Ben Cousins, Trent Cotchin and Andrew Raines could all return to football on the Anzac Day weekend.
Cousins strained his hamstring in the round one match against Carlton, sprinting out of the defensive 50 in the last quarter.
With the former Eagle having a history of hamstring-complaints, the Tigers are being very cautious about bringing him back to a competitive playing environment.
Cotchin has been battling an achilles injury after overtraining in the pre-season, meaning he has now missed most of the two pre-seasons he has spent at Punt Rd after a different achilles injury cost him the lead-in to his debut year of 2008.
Raines tore the lateral meniscus in his left knee in the last term of round one against Carlton, and although it is the same knee that he dislocated last year, the injury is not related.
Richmond football manager Ross Monaghan told richmondfc.com.au that the trio were a chance to return in less than two weeks.
"Rainsey, Cuz and Cotch are all roughly at the same stage," he said.
"They won't play this week but they're all possibilities for the week after.
"They're all possibilities for the Anzac Day weekend, but I wouldn't say any of them are certainties."
Cotchin who finished third in last year's NAB AFL Rising Star award despite playing just 15 matches has missed a significant amount of football and would return via Richmond's VFL affiliate Coburg, Monaghan said.
"It's all still to be decided how we'll re-introduce them, but given that Cotch has missed a number of weeks, he'll certainly come through the VFL.
"We'll see with Rainsey and Cuz as to the path we use to bring them back into the team."

Kane Johnson is poised to make his return next week after a long struggle with a nagging knee injury. He is likely to make his way back via the VFL but, like Cousins, cannot afford to miss too much more senior football if he wants to play next year.
Young defender Alex Rance, who suffered breaks to a cheekbone after a grisly head-to-head collision with Brisbane's Troy Selwood in round seven, is expected to miss at least two more matches and possibly a third, which might mean he will not be seen again until the match against West Coast at the MCG in round 12.

Bump ;D :shh
-
Does Sugars retirement mean we can immediately elevate a rookie along with the one we can elevate at mid year and the rookie covering Richo?
-
No. Now one short on the list.
You can't promote a rookie for a retirement. It has to be a long term injury, except for the one promotion allowed after round 11 via the new rule.
-
Well perhaps Kane would've served the club better by not retiring, getting a medical certificate from Dr. Howlong and going on the LTIL.
-
post rnd 12 any rookie can be elevated at any time.
KJ did the club a favour, he could of sat through rehab for the next 10 weeks and got paid, he will now help develop the youngsters
actively for the same money.
Good on you KJ

Spot on. Give both Axel and Kel as long as they need to get 100% right. Axel has been carrying an ankle all year and Kel's shoulder has been stuffed since the Brisbane game. No point risking them. Not in our interests to.

Notice that the Blues only really have one bad injury and that is Waite, bearing in mind that they never had Warnock in the first place. We have had a large number of rather bad long term injuries this year including the retirement of Johnson through injury. I believe we have better cattle than the Blues and that will come to fruition next year.

The Blues have much better senior players in their prime - Judd, Fev, Waite, Simpson, Betts, etc - which we don't have thanks to the age gap in the middle of our list. Kreuzer, Gibbs, Murphy are top quality youngsters and potential future A-graders while the likes of Griggs, Bower and Jamieson are underrated. The problem with the Blues is the gap between their top 6 or so and their bottom 6 is in their 22 is huge. Sadly they'll be better than us for the next 2-3 years :( until our list starts to mature.

Richmond skipper Chris Newman has emerged as a likely starter for next Sundays Round 18 clash with Melbourne after finishing last Sundays match against Essendon on the interchange bench with a knock to the knee.
The Tigers also have Troy Simmonds (groin) and Kelvin Moore (calf) available for selection after overcoming their injuries, while Andrew Collins will face a fitness test later in the week to determine whether he has recovered from a hip complaint.
Matthew Richardson is on track to return to the park this weekend following his continuing rehabilitation from a serious hamstring tendon injury, but a decision on whether he plays at Richmond or Coburg is not likely until later in the week.

Concussed Cuz a chance to return
richmondfc.com.au
By Jennifer Witham 11:48 PM Sat 22 August, 2009
RICHMOND is optimistic Brownlow medallist Ben Cousins will recover from the concussion he sustained against Hawthorn in time to travel to Perth next week to meet his former side West Coast.
Cousins received a heavy knock from Hawthorn forward Lance Franklin late in the third quarter of Saturday night's game.
He left the field aided by trainers, and sat out the final term after receiving treatment in the rooms.
Caretaker coach Jade Rawlings said Cousins remained a chance to make his second trip back to Subiaco, but would be assessed further during the week.
"It's hard to say, but the stuff I had just before I walked in was he will be fine, but we'll make those calls on Monday and Tuesday," Rawlings said after the game.
"He looked a bit groggy still after the game, but he sat through the meeting and seemed to be engaging reasonably well. I haven't had a full debrief on him yet.
"It was a pretty big hit and he looked like he was pretty keen to stay on, but with the way he walked, he was heading in a totally different direction to where the interchange bench was, which suggested he was in a bad way.
"The way he walked off, he walked in a completely different direction to the interchange bench, which suggested he was in a pretty bad way, but there was a no-risk policy of even considering putting him back on in the last quarter.
"The stuff I got when he walked in is that he will be fine (to play on Friday night), but we will work that out."
Rawlings is also expecting Daniel Jackson (ankle) and Shane Edwards (eye) to be available, but is unsure about Will Thursfield (shoulder) or Chris Newman (knee).
"Newman has a minor knee and we're not sure what the outcome will be for next week, but Jackson said he was fine," he said.
"[Thursfield] was an AC joint, we think, and I'm not sure if it's going to be operable yet."
