Edit: Tambling is a late inclusion into the side - 5/2/09
Is Blingers not quite right injury wise or did he decline to play? No Edwards, JON or Gilligan either.

Actually quite surprised Tambling wasn't selected he musn't be quite as far along as we thought. Lets just get him right for round 1. Maybe JON could have benifitted from this hit out?
-
Not fussed that we dont' have any reps, solely from the view of we can't get an injuries out of that game or the players can't lose any conditioning
Correct me if I am wrong but haven't players in the past who played in this game lost considerable conditioning because of the humidity
-
Not really sure about losing condition WP but Tambling played either last year or his first year and did very little.
-
Didn't Tambo have some trouble with groin soreness before Christmas?
If so, there's your reason.
I thought JON was also injury interrupted in his pre season.
-
Geez, who selected this side of young unproven pups ?? Does not have Mike Macleans selection fingerprints on it as he tends to go for more mature players to balance the side.
Yarran - whats he done at AFL level - a couple of training sessions ?
Travis Varcow, lacks pace but moves well on grass - C'MON please !!
Liam Jarrah, a wooden performer - Don't embarrass yourself !
This side looks like a 2006 NT Buffalo side, but without the horn & hoof.
It is an exhibition game with tickets on itself.
-
Who cares?
Tambling would have been asked before half these blokes but would have said he'd prefer to focus on the game happening the week after. :thumbsup

reported groin soreness - which wasn't accurate but yeah he was in the rehab group before Xmas, ditto with JON

Same here WP.
We also have our intraclub two days before this game with the NAB Cup the weekend after. I'd rather our players prepare and play together than playing with 'strangers' in what is only an exhibition game.
JON wouldn't be playing because he is coming back from a shoulder op and it's still a bit sore although he'll be right to play. Likewise as you mentioned WP Blingers was on a modified program prior to Christmas. It's pointless to take any unnecessary risks in Jan or Feb.
Correct me if I am wrong but haven't players in the past who played in this game lost considerable conditioning because of the humidity
Possibly although they're playing in the evening. Flying and playing back-to-back games at Subi won't be best case scenario either for us if we and the Eagles win first up respectively in the NAB Cup.
Speaking of heat I'm glad our conditioning staff aren't from the Pies expecting footballers to play an actual game in 45 degree heat. Crazy stuff IMV.

Not OP WA Tiger, slight niggle but not OP

Well thats a good thing then, cheers WP.

It was right after he'd been drafted, hadn't even played an AFL match
-
I was told Blingers copped an injury on Monday during training. He started with the main group but then pulled out and just did some running. I dont know what the injury is but he was a no show at today's training.

massive surprise Tambo left out considering some of those names...who gives a rats tossbag really :whistle

Qantas Indigenous All-Stars name squad
RICHMOND star Richard Tambling is a late inclusion for the 2009 Qantas Indigenous All-Stars side to tackle Adelaide in Darwin on Saturday night.
Initial reports were that Tambling was unavailable for the biennial game, but the lightning quick 22-year-old proved otherwise and was given the thumbs up to play by Tigers coach Terry Wallace.
Tambling heads a list of five additions to the initial squad, which also include Melbourne revelation Austin Wonaeamirri, Essendon’s Jarrod Atkinson, North Melbourne recruit Warren Benjamin and Carlton’s Jeff Garlett.
Out of the squad go David Wirrpanda (virus), Albert Proud (club suspension), Nathan Lovett-Murray, Liam Jurrah and Malcolm Lynch.

I still prefer us to have no Tigers in these representative games. Oh well at least it's on the tellie so we can see how he goes. Touchwood Blingers gets through unscathed :pray.
-
would explain why he wasn't play in the "Intra-Club Match"!!! ROFLMFAO!!!
Adelaide will win!

It's all about pride for Territorian Tambling
GREY MORRIS
February 6th, 2009
RICHARD Tambling will run out for his third All-Stars match at TIO Stadium tomorrow night.
The Jabiru speedster and former schoolboy champion is in his fifth year at Richmond since he was a top-four pick at the 2004 national draft.
Playing alongside his brothers in a universal celebration of indigenous football has always been a big priority for Tambling.
"This is where I come from so to come home and play with my brothers is a big thrill," he said.
"It's not often you get to see 29 fit, young teammates run out on to the field with you to play as one unit."
Tambling also playeddown suggestions the 7.05pm clash was an exhibition match.
"It may look like a practice match because we haven't played in the NAB Cup yet," he said.
"But for the indigenous boys it's much more than an exhibition match.
"We take a lot of pride every time we pull on an All-Stars jumper because it's got such a great history behind it.
"And we take a lot of pride from being a part of it.
"We were beaten pretty comfortably by Essendon last time (2007) but hopefully we've come more prepared this year."
Meanwhile, Tambling is looking forward to a long association with Richmond recruit and former West Coast bad boy Ben Cousins.
"It's been awesome having Cuz in in the side - he trains very hard and I've got no doubt he'll be ready for the first game against Carlton.
"The training staff have had to pull him back a bit because he keeps going pretty hard.
"And the young blokes all look up to him, whether he's on or off the field."

A pretty quiet game from Blingers. It seemed instructions were to use him in only 5 minutes spurts as he wasn't on the ground long. Good to see him start in the middle and put his head over the ball at the first bounce which lead to the first goal to the Allstars. He also set up another goal bursting through in the forward pocket. Apart from that he just had a couple of kicks and handballs here and there.
Blx on Y&B posted every possession Richie had:

Let's hope so. Chris Johnson, coach of the allstars, praised Blingers for putting his body on the line. You don't see everything watching on the tellie. Possession wise though he was pretty quiet albeit it was his first preseason wam-up game.

just good Tambling didn't get injuried. big year for Tambling ... :)
