Eslake said yesterday his comments were about the most likely scenario for a Tasmanian team given the 17th and 18th licences have gone to the Gold Coast and Western Sydney.
"The only circumstances under which they (a Tasmanian team) would likely get in would be if a Victorian club were to fall over or two were to merge, and I was speaking hypothetically about possibilities under which that could occur," Eslake said.
"But it was not on the basis of any knowledge, information or desire that North Melbourne or the other two clubs I mentioned (Melbourne and Richmond) were going to do that.

I hope we dont have our club accounts with the ANZ, if we do we should pull our accounts out and go with another of the big banks like CBA or NAB.
-
The RFC is with Westpac Ramps
Well Eslake is right about himself saying things without any knowledge ::). Richmond only happen to the second most total members in Victoria at the moment, never has asked for AFL charity unlike North, Melb, Doggies and Blues, and has made profits for the past 4 years :stupid.
Frightening if he makes the same dumb and ignorant statemants when it comes to money.

was nothing more than an uninformed comment straight from the cuff, lining up the first unsuccessful club that comes to mind...Our business Model is a sound one, whilst by no means bulletproof, we are on the right path to being self sufficient without being on an afl dripfeed for survival :gotigers

RFC management should take the opportunity to release a press statement on the web about this matter, raising the points you just raised, and calling on supporters to purchase memberships so that we can ensure that Mr Eslake changes his mind about where he sees us in the future.

Saul's employed to get a Tassie team up.
He understands the finance of footy, especially when ANZ lanced the Sydney Olympic stadium deal for the AFL, however he is yet to grasp the politics and that is where a Tassie team will fail to get up in the next 6 years (TV agreement + 1).

Nah don't give the ridiculous statement any further air. It doesn't deserve any credibility.
There'll always be stupid comments. Look at how many times journos said we didn't have a major sponsor despite idiot Smith appearing in all their pics of Cuz :wallywink.
