As our list improves and gains depth there's going to be a few more harsh calls you'd reckon. If a player drops in form for a week or two and someone else vying for their position steps up and excites then the player really only has himself to blame.
Gus is still young for a ruckman so he needs to get back on the horse and put his head down at training and with Coburg and put his name back in the coaches minds. His confidence may be down at the moment as he's struggling a bit to hold his marks.

Would have Polo before Jackson, Tambling, Bowden, Raines, White & Edwards. Also probably Morton & Mcmahon but they both play specialist positions so I didnt include them.
-
Spliting hairs here but I think Jackson will start on the field while Cousins may not.
I agree about Polo. He should get a game over Edwards or Raines. He is my bolter for the year :pray

[Where have you been for the last 3 months!!! Cousins starts/quote]
Also i hope Rance plays, he has so much more to offer our side than a few others. Quick, aggressive, eager for the contest, good skills, and just wants to tackle and chase. I really like this kids attitude.
-
The crowd will want Benny to start. It'll be interesting whether we start Cuz on the bench and wait to bring him on later in the quarters when the pace starts to drop off as players tire or use him 5 mins on/off the bench from the start.
I would have Polo in too for his hardness at the footy and as a plan B for Judd but I think the coaching staff have him just outside the 22 at this stage. Edwards is probably the next iffy one after Polo, Rance and Collo. We'll find out for sure this time tomorrow.
-
Polo must be included in the 22. Must.
How much does he have to do? ::)
Terry keep him out of the 22 at your peril.
Other than that the team looks well balanced. :thumbsup
-
Its Round 1 so I can say it, that team looks good on paper. Damn good.
If we get a couple of wins in the first month, I couldn't see a spot for Johnston or Cogs unless there was an injury.
-
I'd be playing Polo :thumbsup
-
I like Edwards but I would play Polo before him.
-
Not much between Edwards and Polo .....I think Shane might be a little more polished around the goals .Polo wont have to wait long for his chance.
-
I think I would play Polo over Edwards in MT's side as I believe at this present time Edwards turns the ball over far more. Other than that the teams looks very stable if they line up like that. The best one I like the most is seeing Schulz at FF, just something about that, that balances the side up for mine.

Both have been groomed for the same backman role so they may be competing against each other all year. I still think, now he is injury-free and fit, Polo is ahead at this point.

i think that he will, Big game, we need bigger players Edwards will miss
-
It seems supporters would have Polo ahead of Edwards but the coaching staff think the reverse. Royal said in that list summary that Polo was in the top 24. Code for he's an emergency.

Hey MT, based on what you have seen as training and the pre-season games would you put Edwards in front of Polo?

Given number of times Dean Polo's been named 24th player during the Wallace regime, he should be changing his name to Jack Bauer.
-
One more hour and the teams will be named..... does anyone expect any surprises????

Um, Tambling to miss out.

And Rance in..... :o

Edwards has been playing a new role in the backline as a small defender/HBFer over preseason. Not sure if it's been that successful but he's been playing a different role to Polo who has been played more in the midfield. So it may not be a question of one or the other. Polo has to compete with our other star mids who would be ahead of him whereas Edwards is alongside Newy, Rainesy and Jordie.

Like the look of that
-
:thumbsup
It looks a good side on paper and stronger that Carlton's especially our forward line to their backline but I don't think we'll line up exactly like that. Richo is a wingman/midfielder now days ;D and hopefully Joel is played forward not in defence.
We've just got to make sure we treat their newbies with respect and not let any them get under our guard because they are fairly unknown.
-
Always looks good on paper MT, did last year for our Centenery game as well, not sure I like Bowden back there and Thursty on the bench. Would rather have Cuz in the centre than Edwards, love the Deledio & Foley combination though.

wayne, there is no Trent Cotchin magnet!
LMAO!
on the Team ...
Terry loves Jordan McMahon!
Terry hates Dean Polo!
i would have Dean Polo before Shane Edwards.
i like Shane Edwards, but i like Dean Polo more :)
didn't Dean Polo 'kill' Marc Murphy last match?
i heard he did!
-
lol @ Jack Bauer being named 24th player. :rollin
-
It looks a good side on paper
Sure does. I don't want to say too much, but straight from Terry's the horses mouth, he'll be "very, very, very upset if we lose this game".
He expects to win.
-
Pretty happy with that team with the exception of Polo not playing
Would have had him ahead of Raines
-
I'd have Polo ahead of Edwards.
Other than that the team is fine. :thumbsup
-
i think we can kick a very big score if can get the ball inside 50 enough.
Brown Lids Morton Riewoldt could have a field day given enough opportunities.

That's some amazing dedication you've got there triclops. Why I love coming to this site. :thumbsup
Both teams have big changes to their lineups from last year. Who could possibly know what to expect?!
Sure does. I don't want to say too much, but straight from Terry's the horses mouth, he'll be "very, very, very upset if we lose this game".
