Just gone 7:30pm. This time tomorrow we'll be at the 'G or watching the game on the box.
So now the teams are out and the real stuff is only one more sleep away what's your final mood/thoughts?
-
I don't know why but i feel apprehensive! I think it is because the expectations are for us to perform well this season.
-
Quietly confident but we need to match them at least in the midfield and turn up to play from the first bounce so we aren't playing catch up footy. If we do that then on paper our superior backline and forwards (as long as we kick straight this time around) in respect to matching-up against their forwards and defence should be able to get us the win.

Nervous. We should come out this with the 4 points but should not let our guard down. The last time a team unveiled 3 debutants was when Malthouse surprised us on the MCG, I think it was back in 2007. On paper looked the goods, but the result was embarrasing. I just hope Terry brings this up in the team meeting before the game.

Cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war.

Can't remember being this nervous before the start of the season for as long as I can remember.
A few thoughts as to why that is..
- The Cousins circus finally debuts under the MCG big top. What a ride it's been over summer! Credit to him, I hope he triumphs.
- Wallace is really in the spotlight regarding our performance. No more excuses.
- Crunch game for the much maligned Jay Schulz & Richard Tambling.
These are two players I've backed to the hilt to succeed but ultimately have promised much and delivered little. Must do well or the knives will be out.
- We now have to beat the likes Carlton who are a genuine finals contender. Worst case scenario tomorrow is we must be competitive.
I really am bursting at the seams with a sense of anticipation. Bring on the footy!!

Although the team is predictable, in a strange way it is a ballsy move by the coach and match committee.
If the team doesn't work this year, it will be a failure - no excuses.
These players have now been together long enough to understand each other and gel as a group.
The split of the Tigers 22 into age is:-
18-21 (5 players)
22-25 (10)
26-29 (2)
30+ (5)
While you could argue we are low on 26-29 yo, this is made up with the Big 5 who have over 1000 games experience playing across all lines (assuming Bowden plays back).
So, really, it kind of has to work - on paper at least.
The split of the Blues 22 into age is:-
18-21 8 players
22-25 8
26-29 6
30+ 0
So the Blues have a significant difference in the really inexperienced (8 to 5) and really experienced (0 to 6). Of those really inexperienced there are 4 newcomers to the team - puts a lot of pressure in a high octane atmosphere.
The settled nature of our team and the huge experience advantage that Richo, Browny, Bowden etc should make a huge difference tomorrow night.
The 3 elevated rookies that the Blues have put into the team astounds me.
4 months ago, 16 clubs didn't think they were good enough to put on a primary list.
Now they are playing senior football.
Big call.

Definitely apprehensive, but excited at the same time

Looking forward to the game, excited but not nervous
Very calm actually, can't say the same for the Blues supports at work. ;D
Also looking forward to a good nights sleep :sleep

Spot on IMHO
Hopefully we will be celebrating tomorrow night

id like us to win this game and kick start our season, I beleive that cuz will do really well, like most 30+ thoroughbreds they dont get out of 2nd gear in pre season Ive heard enough to suggest he may just make some waves tomorrow night...we're only 1 player off our best side...Lets go tigers :gotigers

I was thinking about Thurs night constantly at work today. Matchups, ins/outs, crowd and anticipation e.t.c.
And nearly made myself throw up.
I was so anxious at 1 stage i went outside for 10 mins and a smoke to calm the nerves.
Passion comes at a price sometimes. :)

I'm with you Magic. I can't remember being this nervous for the start of a season for a long time. Not sure why but probably a combination of expectation, hope and good old nagging fear. Anyway, I can't wait to get down there and amongst it tomorrow - bring it on! :gotigers
