..... until he gets his eyesight checked.
Just 8 hitouts from a first ruckman is woeful (less than Gus who had 11) and he's so out of form and making such basic errors in games that there must be something wrong with him. The dropped marks in round 1 and today he actually thought Davey was wearing a Richmond jumper. It wasn't a skill error. Get Simmo some contact lenses :scream.

let him finish his last yr at coburb, then his contract is up and he can stuff off

For a bloke who
a) Handles venomous snakes
b) has a black belt in tae kwon do or whatever martial art it is
This bloke has played since 2005 for the RFC like a girl. Plain and simple
Offering this charlatan a five year deal at the same time as Wallace has been disastrous. Simmonds plays with no aggression no anger no physicality no aura no prescence no valour no courage. One handed attempts at marks drops marks other ruckmen take misses goals he shouldn't. Kicks the unimportant ones. Fumbles the ball does not put his head over it. I think the unprovoked attempt Longie did in the 2000 big one was akin to him getting bitten by an Eastern Brown and has psychologically ruined him from being elite or just below that.
Play Patto and Graham next week in the ruck and take Browny to Coburg with you too Troy.

Simmo will retire at the end of year, has a bad knee. Finished I am afraid

Harsh Tucky to bag Simmo's whole 5 years. His 2006 (not far away from AA) and 2008 were good years. 2007 he was injured nd we suffered big time. I don't have a problem with the 5-year deal but this year so far he's been awful. The ruck was always going to be a concern given our alternatives are too young and inexperienced. We needed Simmo as a senior player to stand up but instead in the first 4 rounds he's doing his best impersonation of Ty Elser.

Good "riddons" in deed...

2008 was overrated by a Victorian selection due to injuries obtained by the first choice candidates in the lead up. Yes he had a great game in Rounds 4 5 and 6 last year but he has lacked consistency and has been too injury prone. Enough is enough. Play at Coburg.
Bring up Patto and Browne along with Graham and we can find our first ruck.
Simmonds = overrated footballer.
AA Selections at our club mean nothing.
It's finals and team success. These individual awards do nothing but inflate egos in a side where the players are individualistic and selfish for the best part.
I would rather see us make finals consistently than have us have players selected as AA.
Simmonds has turned out to be very little for us.
In his five years here I cannot remember him turning a game for us and being the one main reason we won from an impossible position, ie matchwinning ruckman.
Let's thank him for his services and move him on. No point being diplomatic now MT regarding Simmo. He's been a huge disappointment for someone who was signed for 5 years. That's Juddesque for very little return. :banghead

i must admit, many times today i was thinking to myself that i'd rather have graham in the ruck than simmons
-
Simmonds has been one of our most important players for the last 4.x years. He's definitely struggling at the moment, but if he's injured then its purely due to lack of options. No way will I critisise his recruitment and he's been one of the form ruckmen of the competition for the past 3 seasons, excluding injury.
Some of you clowns have very short memories.

i never really liked Pattison as a player or a top 20 draft choice but fair dinkum next to Simmo, patto is a gun.
This week simmo to coburg and patto/Graham to share the ruck duties.
Simmo looks so lost out there and has gotta go for good.
-
Extremely short memories.
While I cant condone his current form regardless if injured (shouldnt be playing) or out of form, he is an improtant factor to our side. In the past whether it is related or not when he has gone down we have performed poorly, when he is playing well we seem to play well.
If he is injured rest him, if he is out of form and Patto can come back then let him play at Coburg.
He has been a very good player over the years and if his time has come then it has come but he has been a very good player for us over the years.

Why is it that we always eat our own, every other side just knows its just a matter of time until start fighting each other. We all need to take a deep breath and think with our heads insead of our hearts.
I agree with MT (who by way spends more time watching our boys train than the rest of combined )that Simmo is off the boil and need a stint in the 2's, it could be his eyes as I have noticed that he misses marks these days that he would have eaten in the past. By the way wasn't he picked as the Vic rep last year???
Lets not just throw the baby out with the bathwater!

Agree MT.
He's just not an effective ruckman under the present rules. Hasn't the height or the leap. Hasn't the pace to be a KP player either. I really think this is a blatant case of the rules comittee curtailing someone's career.
One thing I will say about Simmo which hasn't changed though is his complete lack of balance - it infects a few parts of his game, his lumbering kicking on the run and his Bambi impressions when the ball is at his feet. I wonder how much damage all of that bulking up at Freo did and whether his upper body and legs got strong (but bulky) without enough emphasis on his core strength and balance.

his form has been bloody woeful, in addition to nil hitouts his overhead marking is appalling..fair dinkum he couldnt catch a beach ball right now....made a balls up against undersized opponent on Sun that proved costly,, should be OUT for Patto
