Tigers: We had nothing to lose
Rebecca Williams | April 26, 2009 11:30pm

RICHMOND midfielder Daniel Jackson says the pressure bubble surrounding the Tigers has burst after their breakthrough win against North Melbourne.

Jackson said the scrutiny after last weekend's shock loss to Melbourne had been frustrating, but the team had benefited from a fresh approach to in its game against the Roos.

"That bubble of pressure that has been around us the last couple of weeks has popped and we were able to go out there and enjoy our footy," Jackson said.

"There has been a lot of scrutiny and a lot of it has been deserved, but there was probably some that was a bit excessive.

"After the last game, it was very frustrating, but as the week wears on you go about doing what you need to do.

"I was pretty relaxed coming into the game, we had nothing to lose and I think that was the difference, everyone went out there and enjoyed the footy. I think that's the way we need to go about it each week."

Jackson, one of the Tigers' best in the 36-point win on Saturday night, said the players had backed embattled coach Terry Wallace.

"We have always backed him, the playing group," Jackson said.

"We knew we had done everything we needed to do over summer, we are a very fit side.

"We showed (against North) that's where our talent really lies.

"We have just got to relax and take the game on. We are a young side with a lot of talent and that's what we need to use.

"We have just got to put our head down again and again and try and get our season back on track."

It's still an issue that we win when there's "nothing to lose" yet get stagefright when the spotlight and expectation is on us  :-\.

an unusual approach, considering the consequences if we had of lost, effectively mothballing our season...I would have preferred him to say , we have everything to prove as No-one rates us ::)
