Thanks to our forwards forgetting their job is to kick goals not stuff them up :banghead
Another lesson in not playing injured players too :scream.
-
its not just the fwds, deledio missed a sitter and didnt make up for it!
he also had a chance to stamp is name and kick a 55m bomb for goal and missed, we does not work hard enough, he has foley in the midfield buther the ball in the first half and white who runs around teh ground like a chook with no head
10% more out of newman, white deledio riewoldt and morton and we would have won by 5 goals
-
Overall I think we played better than last week (when we won)......Fantastic intensity all over the ground..We matched the masters of intensity....We slaughtered so many opportunities in the forward line.Players need to back themselves more.Another "if only" game. They were on the ropes and we didn't have the polish to deliver the Knock out blow.

That was a different side then I've ever seen play at the SCG.
I haven't seen a tiger side display such tenacity and defensive pressure in a game before.
They worked really hard off the ball to contest possession and I'm real proud of the boys, while I still walked out of there a loser at least I could hold my head up.

yep, our forward line is very light on, we badly need a talented forward to emerge with danger written all over him, this group would improve 3 fold...we're beginning to win the pill, just cant amount to anything ::)

Just got back
Still gutted

Question where's the talk Mitch?
-
mitch needs a spell at the burgers with another lazy player who are born gifted, being born with natural talent is not enough, its all about work ethic and attitude and these two players im talking about lack these 2 qualities because thay had it easy all their lives due to their natural talent

Mitch Morton is the new Pettifer. Lazy and selfish
bring back pettifer i say. Anything is better than Morton's last few weeks

The big difference between Mitch's form this year and last is that the opposition realize that Mitch is our best forward and giving him the defensive respect accordingly. If some of our other tall forwards can step up then it would free Mitch up and he would be much more dangerous. You can't expect an injuried Richo and a heavily tagged Morton to win the game alone. We need Jack to kick more goals and we desperately need a full forward (read Schulz, Hughes, Vickery, Post, Putt or Gourdis time to pull your collective fingers out NOW! :banghead)

Yep something I have been saying for a while, ATM Morton is our most dangerous looking forward and gets the attention duly received. He shouldn't be our No1 forward target and needs a KPP forward to stand up and take the load off this young players shoulders.

Well said. Playing as a small forward is so tough, every kick you get is 100% earnt. I think we're being way to hard on Mitch he's performances this year have been par at worst and apart from this week he's been in our best 5-10 every week for mine.

these are all bs excuses , you simply have to work harder!
stevie j at the cats seems to work hard and create and he gets heavily marked but always impacts
excuses excuses excuses
no wonder we never get anywhere at rfc

Works hard at what?, he's a pussy play acting for frees most of the time.

you're not wrong there
Back onto Mitch.... he certainly is getting more attention this year, however that shouldn't stop him doing the things that he did last year. the 1% ers. His defensive pressure inside the F50 was what made him a standout in 2008 needs to start doing those things again. More attentionor not you've got to keep working hard, actually maybe you should work even harder

Agree there, that side of his game does need to improve.
From memory he had 4 tackles last week and applied pressure but it needs to be consistent.

Actually think if he got those things right a few other things may fall into place for him

So you would argue that in the past when Richo was our ONLY forward option and was tagged by 3 to 4 defenders each game that he should have worked harder, we had no excuses why we struggled to score and that it was his fault.
Teams, particularly Richmond, have learnt the hard way that you need more than one or even two predictable targets regardless of their ability to generate the types of scoreboard pressure you need to consistently win games. Morton now find himself in a similiar position. Tell me if you were an opposition coach who would you turn your attention to first in our forwardline?
Sure he could improve his tackle count and defensive pressure but ultimately no one man can shoulder the responsibility alone.
We need our forwards to stand up and take the pressure off EACH OTHER so the load can be spread otherwise players such as Mitch, no matter how hard he works or how good he is, will struggle to score.
You're right the whole situation is bs.

Mitch needs to put the 'play on, snap for goal' back in the holster as well. Fair enough if you's 10 metres out on the boundary, but 45 metres out??
Just go back and have a set shot.... after you've done your stint at Coburg.

we had too many passengers yesterday, how many times when we had a player win a hard ball, he went to dish off a handball , but he had no support around him, this happened often in the fwd line too, only nahas seemed to try his guts out there yesterday.
we need a whole new fwd set up and structure , royal must wear some of this blame. im sorry to say this but richos time may just be up , not his fault but whenever he plays fwd we are too predictable , we have too many stupid players who cant think quickly enough to find better options up fwd, its all to easy to bomb it long to richo

Lack of basic awareness by Jack as well to expect to have more time at AFL level to kick the goal but yep WP where was the talk from Mitch :banghead

Passengers.. If Jack kicked the ball 1 seconds quicker and it sailed through we probably woudl have ran over the swans. How can you be so negative and so cut throat with passengers and axings to Coburg when literally it was a matter of 1 or 2 simple if's. Your acting as if we got smashed by 100 points.
The boys gave a massive crack. If you know what it takes to play football at any level you'd understand this.

They sure did against a side whose ground gives their bigger body weights an advantage. We know we have speed but combine that with the attack on the ball that was displayed against the Swans and hopefully we will be enjoying some wins soon.
-
Spot on Pope....only a few "ifs" from marvellous victory and another "no change" team(apart from Richo)next week. The chemistry of the team at the moment is the best it has been all year.

In the past 5 years Swans would be the best contested football side in the comp. To match there intensity (after qtr time) and take it up to them is a huge positive. Swans inaccurate kicking kept us in it but I thought with a bit of luck we could have pinched the game. When that's a possibility it's certainly not panic stations and time for multiple axings.

coulda shoulda woulda im sick of hearing about ifs and maybes.
4 points went begging and down the drain. WE LOST END OF STORY!!!

Another one that got way this year. Last year it was these sort of close games that we won more often than we didn't. This year we haven't won any one of them - Geelong, Swans, Lions, Port. Not that we deserved to win them either as we haven't put together more than two quarters of decent footy in any one game all year except against North. Just goes to show how even/mediocre most of the clubs in the comp are and if you can plan right and add 2-3 classy key players to your side you can quickly turn things around.
-
we certainly did Olly ::)
-
The game against Port was one of greatest examples of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory ever.
During the last quarter on four separate occasions I was doing my rendition of a victory dance much to my dogs amusement.
Once Cotchin kicked that goal in the last all I could think off was how I was going tease WAT for his "Fat Lady" comments during the third.
Football can be so cruel at times.

The photo displayed here is exactly what happened in yesterdays game but the decision was not given the same WHY, umpires hate Richmond l'm sure
-
l enjoyed yesterdays game thought the lads played some good footy on a ground that holds water like a sponge
game turned when Mitch kicked out on the full turning the ball over but no-one is too blame for the loss, those conditions are hard
Next week
-
Actually think we've moved on from playing 2 good quarters
Yesterday we played 3 + 10 minutes
Give us 4 good ones and we will win more than we lose
The Mitch out on the full effort was ghastly but the goal Motlop got was one we didn't need to happen either
9 points up, goes back to the centre and they just cleared it far to easily :'(
-
I enjoyed that game as well, a bit dirty as it was within our grasp to win but on the other hand Port missed two absolute sitters dead in front which I couldn't believe.
-
Nahas was my highlight of the game. Showed plenty.
