Title: Nathan Brown must play for Coburg first.
Post by: TigerLand on May 04, 2009, 11:50:20 AM
For mine there seems to be a problem with player hierarchy at the club.

Nathan Brown only warms up with Richo or Joel Bowden.

This may just eb coincidence but if you watch Gary Ablett warming up with Joel Selwood, Simon Black with Daniel Rich, Shane Crawford with Xavier Ellis last year, it's just a small thing that I notice and it doesn't sit well with me.

Surely Brown should be warming up with Tambling, Morton, Nahas, even a Thursfield or Graham. Richo as well.

Ben Cousins had to swallow a massive pill coming through the VFL to prove his fitness/ability. He is in teh exactly same boat as Brown. Returning from injury and hasn't played a pivotal role for a lengthy amount of time. Astonishing every other player has come through VFL reserves coming back from Injury - Coughlan, Cotchin, Cousins all have done it.

Richmond absolutely must make Brown earn his spot with a 3-6 goal haul for Coburg. I don't care how Morton, Nahas or Riewoldt are going. No player should make his way for Nathan Brown if none have made way for a returning Cotchin or Cousin thus far.

This must happen to further emphasis the strong culture building at our club. Absolute must happen. I woudl love to see Browny come back for Coburg kick 10 goals and warrant selection and show the young men how it's done with hard work and skill instead of cheaply earning back his spot.

I can't stand this internet trend of misspelling 'the' as 'teh'. For some reason it really gets to me. X used to do it and it drove me nuts.

And while I am having a pedantic sook, FF I really miss your 'asian guy eating a cucumber' avatar, I hope you bring it back one day.

Oh, and Brown will probably come back through the reserves.

I agree with you Popelord, he needs to come back through the 2nds for many reasons - setting an example, fairness, to ensure he warrants a place and to recapture some confidence and form.

I expect he will be included though... :(

Brown has missed 2 matches. Cousins missed 4, plus hadn't played much for years. A big difference.

It all depends on the player, how long they were out for, the type of injury, and a lot of other factors. Brown could slot back in after missing two matches.

Our forward line is going so well without him

Our forward line is going so well without him

not the point bentleigh.

Why should he pick and choose where he plays and on your point last week we played well enough to beat North without him.

Our future is without him in our team and IMO our season is over in terms of finals, so why not play someone who is our future.

Id rather Pettifer than Brown. Not sure i understand why to be honest, actually yes i do.

Pettifer is fighting for his Footy life so will give it his all while Brown is going through the motions, preparing for a life of tshirts and coming out of the closet.

I dont rate either but Brown like Simmo and Johnson are finished.

He might come back if the baby gives away the cigs.
His constant chewing annoyed the crap out of me.

Edit: I typed cigs originally as f@gs and it posted as limps.  ;D

Should Richo come back thru Coburg also?
Might break his "never play for another club" rule.

Yes he should. After a 10 week injury he definitely should.

Agree...if it's good enough for Coughlan, Cotchin, Cousins it's good enough for Brown.  He wasn't exactly setting the world alight before his stint on the sideline (other than a good game against Geelong).  This might have been related to the injury but I would be seriously suspicious at his relationship with Wallace if Brown strolled straight into the seniors this week.

i would have put $2 mil on Brown playing before Richo's injury now ill bump that up to $5 mil.

Wallace is a puppet and so predictable

stuff i cant wait to see the back of him and all the coaching staff to be honest.

complete clean out is required.

Given Coburg have the bye this week then Browny if fit (listed as test) could only play for Richmond if he plays.

The guy was injured so clearly it was affecting his game
With only 2 weeks off his match fitness shouldn't be too bad, I don't see the problem with bringing him straight back

He was no more likely to come back through Coburg than Richo would have been if he only missed a couple of weeks.  AND with Richo going down AND with our forward line being our weakest and underperforming link then it was a lay-down misere.

But no, some on here believe it must be a conspiracy - it must be because Wallace is trying to save his career.  Pfft.   :wallywink
