Can't really complain with those outs or ins
I'm sure some will have issue with Brown coming straight in, but with Richo out we need some more talent up forward
Glad to see Simmo getting a chance up forward, having a decent big guy in the goal square will straighten us up and take a good defender away from others.

hate these ins.
when is wallace going to stop being selfish and looking out for his own future and think about the club for a change.

it's time to play the youth but what does he do?? bring back 3 30yo+ players....disgraceful.  i'm alright with bringing cousins in.  but nathan brown wasnt' in great form before he was injured, and now he comes straight back into the team?? and what's the point of bringing simmonds in at FF?? with richo out it's teh best time to see what our young forwards can do with an eye on the future...but he brings simmonds in....FFS....

we really should have sacked him...hope we get smashed this week with these ins

Sarge did nothing against Casey, didn't deserve a call up

None of the kids played well either, except for Edwards, but it was his first good game all year so needs to back it up before a recall

Yes i know sarge was crap last week but he was great the 2 weeks previous. His form is stronger than Brown, Cuz, Nahas, Jon etc imo

Cousins back with Brown, Simmonds
richmondfc.com.au
By Mic Cullen 5:09 PM Thu 07 May, 2009

BEN COUSINS is back.

After five weeks on the sidelines, Cousins proved his fitness last week with Coburg in the VFL and has been promoted for his second game for the Tigers as they prepare to take on the Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

Richmond will be hoping this match proves more productive than Cousins' debut against Carlton in round one, when he was forced from the field early in the last term with a torn hamstring.

Cousins played 238 matches for West Coast before parting ways with that club and served a year's suspension from the competition. But Richmond snapped him up with 2008's last draft pick.

Following a successful VFL outing, Richmond saw reason to instantly recall him.

"We were really pleased with his form last week with Coburg, and the approach he took into that game was terrific," football manager Ross Monaghan told richmondfc.com.au.

"His recovery has been excellent, he trained well during the week and we're pleased to have him back in the team."

Joining Cousins back at the top level are Nathan Brown and Troy Simmonds, while Matthew Richardson is out after his hamstring tendon operation.

Jordan McMahon and Mitch Morton have been dropped.

"Nathan has come up really well after a couple of weeks' rest and recovery, and Troy gives us some extra height and versatility to match up on the Brisbane talls," Monaghan said.

I can see why Cousins,Brown and Simmonds have been brought in........Its last roll of the dice time.Terry might as well go down playing the so called "Big Guns".

I will cross my fingers and toes that Cuz gets through the game injury free.

Good luck Boys :gotigers

We'll get bagged for all the ins being three 30+ year olds but apart from Browny coming straight back in Cuz and Simmo were two of Coburg's best so no complaints from me. We should have the advantage in the ruck as Simmo will allow us to rotate 3 ruckman against Brisbane who are using Mitch Clark as a fill in due to all their ruck injuries. Hopefully that will give us first use of the footy.

I hope Cuz gets through  :pray despite not playing a full game at Coburg otherwise the club will cop plenty of chicken poo from the media if Cuz goes down straight after Richo  :-\.

The outs are fair enough. Jordie and Mitch were poor. No complaints there.

Best side I have seen this year by far, well on paper at least and of course without Richo and Cotch. I think Brown and Cousins work rate is 10 fold compared to Jordy & Morton at the moment. Morton really needs to get about 3 games in a row with Coburg gathering big numbers or bagging goals.

Schulz simply does not have the class of Nathan Brown nor the smarts, I would have selected Brown as well.

If Cuz does go down why are we going to blame everyone. He is medically fit and he showed in round one he hasn't lost it and for those of you saying that the season is over in round 6 please wake up and give the boys a bit of backing.

it would be hilarious if nathan brown gets injured in this game for coming back from injury too soon.

it's what u get when the coach is looking out for himself and himself only

Very Interesting - at least we kept the young boys in - well done

My only hope is we dont take other clubs discards - only trade for a player one outside our 22 and is below 22

Relax Boys, i see it from both sides but don't have an opinion either way,

1 Browny could be Terrys favorite, but has been a star of the game
2 To wish someone an injury for the tiger's just adds to the GIVE UP/ LOSE culture some are sinking into -  complain and be negative when we win -other clubs dont do it

Is Daniel Connors injured lads? Has anyone got any details on this?
If he is not injured then I would like to see him get a run for the rest of the year.

I know Morton has been shocking for a couple of weeks now so I don't disagree with that and McMahon has been awful for a while in my opinion?
Simmonds? Brown certainly does not deserve a chance after being inj and forced out and having no return through the ressies. I also find it conspiratory that Brown may play forward with no Morton even though I did say that Morton was struggling.

Nevertheless as a Tiger fan I hope we win. When I belt out the song after a win I am not thinking who was in the side but the fact we won, but right now I find a few of the selections for Saturday a little repetitive and standard. This week I felt was an opportunity for a left field selection of a young kid rather than the standard senior player who has underperformed for a while now.

Gee we really know how to pick him and you wonder why we are where we are.

If he is not injured then I would like to see him get a run for the rest of the year.

He was injured pre-season Tucker, had a broken hand during the NAB cup

Played a game for the Coburg ressies, then played in the Coburg firsts, got a call up for the Melb game (when he shouldn't have), was dropped (rightly) after the Melb game and played last week for Coburg.

Based on his efforts (and I use the term very loosely) last week for Coburg he didn't deserve a recall this week. IMO last week he played as if he was playing for himself and not the team. He was unaccountable, wouldn't pick up his opponent and at times appeared lazy. If he'd been playing well I'd say he should be playing but he doesn't deserve it at the minute based on his form

I understand why a number of people being ticked off with the Brown selection but I reckon if he can't fire this week he will never fire up .... and if he kicks 3 or 4  none of us will be complaining

Agree WP. Tucky sadly Rawlings is spot on with is EOTT comments about Daniel from last weekend :(

"Typical Daniel Connors performance . . . some flashy brilliance, but some costly errors and a lack of defensive aspect to his game."

Seems strange, our 3 senior midfielders dont touch the ball for a half so we drop a forward and our defensive go to player, still selecting  on personalities not performance

bit sad to see morton get dropped too. i don't really see the point of that. anyway, looks an interesting forward structure, let's see what will be. Good to see JON still in the mix, about time for a bit of a breakout game for him though. big question for me though.. what will brown do.

Yeh me either, I thought with a fit big fella in Simmo, Schulz or Hughes at FF Morton might be able to impact on the game a bit more.

There may be something in what other posters said that his work rate wasnt quiet up to scratch (personally I could only see that in the Sydney game)

as they say - i couldn't agree with ourselves more c17. with richo out we want these blokes to stand up - so what do we do? drop the guy. is he going to find form having a weekend sitting in the grandstand?

Brown doesn't deserve a recall - he was playing poorly before he was injured and hasn't had time to find his form and fitness back before he has been included. Mitch still remains our most dangerous forward of the last 14 odd months (yes I realize this isn't a huge feat at the moment) but much of his poor form has been due to the additional attention he has received consequently. Browny on the other had has shown very little and the majority of goals he has got have been uncontested.

I am happy with the inclusion of Cousins over McMahon and Simmonds for Richo given the Lions depleted ruck stocks but I would like to see a young tall forward given a chance very soon such as Hughes, Post or even Vickery when their Coburg form warrants it.

It appears that Morton is paying the ultimate price for not laying a tackle last week......also his role in the Riewoldt/Mattner incident.
I would be very surprised if hes not back in the team soon.

With Browny back and Richo out I would've given Mitch another go as well on the proviso he works harder defensively (lays tackles) or he's in the VFL next week. I get the feeling Mitch is more potent with Browny in the side. Maybe because Mitch gets the 2nd best small defender with Browny tagged by the opposition's best small defender.

Brown is still a very good player and a match winner- i think a few on here have very short memories.
His form this year has been just ok at best but he has had 21 mates every week in the same boat.
If fit he plays.

playing shultz before morton... what an stuffing disaster.
anyone know why brown didn't play?
my kneejerk reaction for today is ditch bowden elevate silvester play all the kids inc JON, give Rance the captaincy for his bravery and send that part timer riewoldt back to coburg.
