Title: Our supporters are still the RFC's best asset!
Post by: one-eyed on May 13, 2009, 04:57:04 AM
Despite being 15th on the ladder, having just one win on the board and playing mostly terrible footy, there's still one good thing the RFC can rely on - its supporters. We're averaging 54k to our home games so far which is the second highest just behind Essendon.

Average home crowds after round 7

Essendon    54,255
Richmond    54,127
Hawthorn    47,440
Coll'wood    43,882
Carlton       41,067
Bulldogs     40,324
W.Coast     38,112
Adelaide     37,783
Fremantle   32,518
Sydney       30,787
North Melb  30,478
Geelong      29,611
St Kilda      29,258
Port Adel    29,082
Brisbane     28,987
Melbourne   26,589

Our total crowd figure is 5th highest because we've played away at small stadiums like Kardinia Park and the SCG.

Pies fans have dropped off by 100k in total according to the Age today.

I think round 1 has inflated those figures a bit, but i agree, it is phenomenal how many supporters we have on the back of no success for so long!

But no doubt the Anzac Day would inflate the Bombers' as well.
And Collingwood and Carlton as well, for that matter.
Probably better to take out those two games and see where we're at.

The crowd on the weekend was a record between Richmond and Brisbane. We're gluttens for punishment lol.
