Title: Coaching Pressure
Post by: WA Tiger on May 13, 2009, 09:05:41 PM
I honestly think the pressure on coaches in getting out of control, look at how Malthouse (nearly every week), Williams (after the Captain decision), Thompson (regarding Ottens), Craig (on the weekend) but to name a few have lost it lately. The pressure this year after only 6 rounds is incomprehensible.

Are we ruining peoples lives here and affecting there families lives by the continual harassment of these people?? Sure they are in the kitchen and yeah the same old if they cant handle it get out and all the other sayings but does that excuse the public, media and supporters for putting so much pressure on these people.

I really believe everyone needs to back off and let these people try to do their jobs..... coach!!

Any thoughts.

Yup, let the coaches pay out on the umpys and the afl with their rule changes. Everyone seems to be able to haave a ping at the coaches but they get fined whenever they want to ping someone! It is all one way traffic! Ill never forget the time Danny Frawley was spat on, reckon a few would do it to TW, unfortunately, if they had the chance >:(

That was a dog act but did you see the guy.

are you a man or a mouse?? Wallet is paid 500k a year as most of them are. If they cant handle the heat get out of the kitchen and quit.

Didn't see them complaining when they signed on the dotted line

what is the big deal about how much he's paid? do you actually think it an unreasonable amount... seems to be a big issue with you, what do you suggest a senior afl coach should be paid? $500k sounds reasonable given the seniority of the role, and given you've got maybe 5yrs then no guarantee of future income.

Well good to see you at least removed both posts OE, just one thing though you may want to go through the other billion posts in the other threads and snip snip them too, just to be fair.

But I will move on.

Just the way the media works these days sadly. More opinionated writings searching for an angle different from everyone else to attract attention rather than producing stories just reporting facts as they are known and then letting the reader make up their own mind. There'd be also an ego/competitive element which I guess has always been in the media for year dot to be the first to break the news when coach so-and-so has got the stuff. Look at how they all got bloodthirsty at our last board meeting yet nothing happened and again they're frothing at the mouth at this next meeting coming up after the Port game this weekend. It'll probably be a non-event again if the club holds its nerve.

You need a pretty tough skin to survive in footy and all the coaches would realise it and accept it. They all grew up in an era when as players they would have copped an absolute soulsearching spray from the coaches of the day. Even within clubs you can't be thin skinned. One minute they love you as a favourite son, then turn on you as coach and want you axed, then love you again as absence makes the heart grow fonder in footy lol. Lazarus would have been in his element in footy circles.

There is a big difference between public comment, public opinion and public harassment (abuse).  The first 2 are reasonable parts of the job involved in coaching and would be accepted by all coaches as part of the 'package' but when the abuse comes in the form of sensationalist newspaper headlines like the one recently then sadly it highlights a flaw in our community - the media are not as good at self-governance of their own shortcomings as they are at pointing out those of others.  Fair's fair but the media don't sing from that sheet of music.

the medai are and always will be fos
they have ruined the life and career of an elite aussie rugby player. they targeted him when he did nothing wrong. he was involved in a concentual gang bang, 7 years later the lady wants money and cries she was harrassed. the nx police back then and now say their is no case after a thorough investigation. we have womens rights ppl say group sex is harrassment, welll it isnt when the girls want it. there are many many women into gang bangs, this has been going on for centuries its not something that has just happened now and amongst sports ppl only.
ffs the media ran with a bs story without doing their homework and now have caused more chaos.

but thats the price you pay for being a public figure. i know of ladies and men who engage in this activity, its all concentual and no one gets sued because no one is famous

terry wallace wants less heat, start winning games by changing your dumbarse game plan and ideas, they dont work

problem is this with coaches.
would think in our case that Terry has had no KPI,s and hasnt been able to be judged or his performance measured until its too far down the drain past the point of no return. :banghead
think that this a club problem that STEVE WRIGHT AND GARY MARCH are fully responisble for.
Yep, a club issue.
I am in an extremely good employment contract with my employer and if i dont perform or my KPI,s arent met , guess why, I would be shown the door,
You might find that wallace was fully unaccountable for the first 3 and half years.
Not Terrys fault.

Doesn't the Board employ the coach directly rather than Wright even though he is CEO? Wright's job is more the off-field health of the club. Likewise who made the decision to make Cameron our new football manager on a alleged 5-year deal? They way it was done it sounded from the outside as it was more a Boardroom decision (the club wanting more Richmond people  ::) ) than Wright's doing.

Not Terrys fault.
:o

Who stole Jack's account?  :lol
