Title: March on SEN 12.45pm / Jade Rawlings caretaker coach
Post by: one-eyed on June 06, 2009, 11:51:16 AM
March will be on SEN after 12.45pm

They reckon Rawlings got it because he won't get it the full-time gig next year.

That's just a plain bizzare mindset.

It was a poison challice that no-one wanted.  The club won't want to win games and miss those draft picks, so a job for a stooge.

Summary

* Rawlings got the nod because he has coached his own side (Coburg) and we didn't want to disrupt our assistant coaches especially as we have a young midfield.

* March was asked if we'll play the kids now. Gary said he can tell supporters that we want to finish the year off like last year and win as many games. We'll play players on form. And like last year we'll introduce kids towards the end of the year.

* March was then asked if this rules out Campbell's chances for the job next year. March said certainly not. We saw all our assistants as possible future coaches.

* The process to select the new senior coach is finished but hasn't been ratified yet. Will do so next week. Just putting the finishing touches to it.

* Wallace on footy show - only saw bits of it so can't comment.

* Richo - like most supporters he's been my favourite player. Saw him running this week and was just . 3 weeks ahead of schedule and he'll probbly play 3-4 games this year. If he wants to go around then he probably will.

* Buckley - we'll be sorting out any quality person like a Buckley. We haven't ruled out anyone.

* We haven't ratified the coaching process yet so he doesn't believe it will be a quick process. Like Melbourne and St kilda it'll take a couple of months and a few interviews.

* We've shown this year we aren't going to be driven by external pressures. We didn't plan on a caretaker coach at the start of the year but things change. We'll just go through the process. Cameron, Wright and Bond have been very good handling this period as has the club.

* 6 person list management committee headed by Cameron and Francis Jackson - they'll control that side of the process and we'll have no influence on them.

* We'll do what's best for the footy club.

the younger players should be told they have every opportunity for a senior berth if they pull their fingers out, does that mean we play Jon , pluck Hughes from the thirds and Jake King, no siree it means if thomo can regularly knock up 30+ possies a week at 90% efficiency , Vickery can take more than 3 marks a game and Post can get more than 9 possies then the world is your oyster boys, and be warned the bar may be lifted at any moment :o

That's true bj. I guess we're just sick of seeing the same senior fringe players fail after call-up after call-up after a decent Coburg game or two. Compare that to Tivas treatment last year where he was getting 30+ possies and 4 goals nearly every week at VFL level yet the club never promoted him until a round 22 farewell game because he wasn't part of the future.
