Title: Tigers vs Saints
Post by: one-eyed on June 24, 2009, 05:35:13 AM
Looking ahead to Sunday's game, who do all think will get the jobs on Jack's cousin, Kosi and the pest Milne down back?

And what about midfield match-ups? Who should Jacko tag?

It's going to be a challenging week for Rawlings as coach.

Our young defenders seem to do alright against Nick Riewoldt.....Thursty and Mcguane have done the job before.

Steven King is still suspended so hopefully Kosi might have to spend less time in the forward line and more time in the ruck.

I would play Jackson on Montangna.....he had 36 disposals against the blues.

Milnes record against the tigers was only average untill last year......Plan A Polo
                                                                                            Plan B Neman
                                                                                           Plan C Moore.

I wonder how many weeks suspension that would be?

high impact, intentional, behind play.

hmmm...

It could be worth it, just give the job to someone about to retire.

:thumbsup (just joking of course, but I do hate that little bastard)

Newman has a terrible record against the little twirp

Solution:

A Jake King return maybe the answer  ;D

We have tried everyone on Milne and he still kills us every time because we don't or can't stop the supply of football to him. King got toweled up by him the last time he played on him because he is not defensive enough and too slow thinking. King also gets caught up too much in playing the man instead of the ball, then the free kicks come. I would look at putting Rance on him to go hard at him all night and stop the supply of football down there.

Talk about bogey sides. We've lost the last 10 against the Saints and it's been 6 years since we last beat them. That record doesn't look like changing soon either  :help.

Terry on SEN said he stayed away from our game against the Eagles to let the club move on (watched it on the tele) but wanted to come and watch us today. He said as a young side we need reward for effort early on. If the Saints get off to a good start then it may be a long day for us. On the other hand, the Saints tackle count has been down over the past month so if they are off the boil, the Tigers running game could cause the Saints problems.

Rawlings coming up next.
Title: Rawlings on SEN
Post by: one-eyed on June 28, 2009, 04:31:14 PM
Rawlings on SEN

* 100% enjoying the hot seat. Frenetic and a step up from VFL but enjoying it. The euphoria of a win helps.

* Supporters want to see what the players on our list can do. We want to win. Rance, Nahas have been given chances and it's coming together.

* Said he's an interactive person who likes contact with people. Said he likes the contact with the players.

* Spoke about Gilligan meeting Dermie for the first time lol.

* Terry asked Jade about the team selection changes last time? Jade said it was a match committee decision. It wasn't easy as you have personal relationships with these older players. The players dropped understood the club's direction and the players who came in vindicated their selection. Edwards and Hislop stood up last week. Nahas and Vickery as well. All benefited from the experience.

* Terry then asked what major change has happened over the past 3 weeks at Punt Rd? Rawlings said most of the things were already in place and said Terry you were part of that. We just worked on tidying things up and more on what we can do to get the ball back (defensive side of our game).
Title: Re: Tigers vs Saints
Post by: mightytiges on June 28, 2009, 04:38:04 PM
Edwards, Cotch, Nahas and JON on the bench.

Btw we've used 37 players this year. The Saints only 26. Makes a difference when you're winning and settled as a side.

We're strangling ourselves by having numbers behind the ball. No one across HF to kick to. When the couple of times we did get it forward we stuffed it up with poor disposal.

4 goals to no score this quarter.

15 - 28

Yep even if we could pinch a win playing like this this isn't how you structure a team for the future.

Geez the umps are giving the Saints everything  ::)

Not helping that we dropping marks. It went straight through Gus' hands inside 50  :P

Sorry guys, but that is the most pathetically inept display of coaching i have seen! id rather kick goals and  be 40 points down than watch this dribble! Jade, this is afl not vfl, grow some balls, you wont get a job with this tripe of a game plan. There, now i feel better ill get just get off my soap box now......
Title: Re: Tigers vs Saints

Terry now he's in the commentary box said there's so many Richmond players who haven't had continuity of preseason training they don't have the tank. So fitness is an issue.

Terry said 1/3 of the team tonight has had 10 games of less experience.

Plough - "This Richmond group is more a thinking man's group. Need to articulate a message across to them. At the Bulldogs he could blast them. The difference b/w Gen Y who want answers to questions compared to previous generations."

Possies:
Tuck      16
Foley     16
Jackson  13
Newman 13
Polo       13
Tambling 12
Silvester  12

It's Benny Hill stuff now. Kicks being smothered, running in circles in the backline, excessing meaningless handball. We have no one forward of the ball to kick to and trying to set up every attack from deep in defence.

Terry saying he wants our mids like Lids and Foley to run forward of the ball to offer options yet we played like this crap under him.

My positives
Gus in the ruck
The Cat
We never stopped trying
St. Kilda didnt top 100 points, amazing considering their forward line
Therefore, our backline
Jacko, Foley and Tuck

My negatives
The flood after quarter time
Only kicked 5 goals
Jacks misses
JON, Edwards not up to it
Jades gameplan

LOL mat

The first time a team has been held scoreless for two quarters since Fitzroy in 1995  :-X

A caller bagged Wallace for recruiting the current players. It then got again onto who is responsible. Terry said you might back yourself on a late pick but he left it to the recruiters to pick the players. You take some responsibility which is why he isn't in the job anymore but not all as list managers and recruiters have a say as well.

Let's just say that if Geelong kept us scoreless for 3 quarters, they'd have been 150 points in front.

I just don't think the Saints can score enough to beat the Cats.

Thursty did a good job on Milne.....infact the whole backline did ok considering the pressure they were under.

If I was told before the game that we would restrict Sk Kilda to 92 points under a closed roof at Edihad I would of been at my optomistic best.

Our effort in scoring 36 pts was our lowest score at that stadium.

Boy did they make us pay for our cheeky start.11 goals in a row.....good teams dont let that happen.
