Crap if it's a half decent crowd which it will be by all accounts.  Take the rail/shuttle option if it's convenient.

The peanuts & I are driving down from Brissy Saturday arvo.

Got a great deal through "Wotif" at the Radisson and so I've booked us in there for saturday night

Would any of the shuttles be close to that?

I know how to get from the hotel to the ground via car but if it's going to be a problem then I am happy to seek other arrangements  ;D

Lemongrass in Main Beach is much better, never imagined going to the gold coast for food but it's worth going to go to Lemongrass

Title: McGuane vs Tippett: Local boys battle it out (Gold Coast Bulletin)

Local boys to battle it out
Nick Smart | July 3rd, 2009

GOLD Coasters Kurt Tippett and Luke McGuane will stand toe to toe in tomorrow night's Gold Coast Stadium showdown between Adelaide and Richmond.

Miami product Tippett, 22, has played 32 games and has been in good form for the Crows over the past month up forward, kicking a career-high seven goals against Essendon in Round 11.

But fellow Coaster McGuane, who hails from Broadbeach and was drafted by Richmond in 2004, is one of the league's toughest and most underrated defenders.

Also 22, and with 45 AFL games under his belt, McGuane is no stranger to playing on Gold Coasters, having lined up on St Kilda star Nick Riewoldt last weekend.

In the last AFL game at Carrara before the stadium is demolished and rebuilt ready for the Gold Coast Football Club in 2011, it is fitting that two of the city's best products are set to line up on each other in a battle that could decide the match.

McGuane, Richmond's most experienced defender, up against Tippett, instrumental in his club's five-match winning streak. "There is a chance (I will play on him), because I am a tall defender and he is a tall forward," said McGuane.

"I am sure Kurt will want to have a good game on the Gold Coast, and so will I ... he is a very strong, athletic boy and will be hard to stop.

"It is good to be playing at Carrara again -- I played there in my Gold Coast Stingray (under-age representative football) days. I am sure it won't be unfamiliar for Kurt either," said McGuane.

The Tigers arrive today, having won just three games this season.

Tippett said he had a lot of respect for McGuane, adding that it would not be easy to kick a bag on him. "I know Luke because he is from the Gold Coast and he used to play at Broadbeach," Tippett said yesterday.

"I have played on him once before in my first year. It was a very even contest and I might have to get him back."

Adelaide included key forward Shaun McKernan, the younger brother of dual Kangeroo premiership player Corey McKernan, for his AFL debut after losing another Gold Coaster, ruckman Brad Moran, to a long-term knee injury.

71 handballs and just 44 kicks  :banghead. Just 6 Tigers have not had more handballs than kicks.

we were outclassed but tambling is improving at a rate of knots, post showed confidence although kicking at times was problematic, nahas continues to improve, Vickery looks to be going ok and there were many other positives but i come back to one thing and its this and this will sound tough but we cant improve with the list we have. This may sound mighty tough but why should we keep Chris Newman- a 26/27 hbf, why should we keep Shane Tuck also about 26/27yo, what role can they play for us ... we need skillful mids and a big key position forward. At the end of the year Id be putting up Newman, Foley, Tuck, Pattison and players like that to see what we could get.

And what are you going to do? Get more draft picks? We are going to get 4 picks in the top 40 along with pick 2 in the december draft and be able to elevate Nahas.
Newman is a smart footballer, Tuck is a very good clearance player and getting 1st use is critical in footy. Foley when fit is a playmaker and makes things happen, no-one will want Patto.

Why don't try something novel?

How about we extract the most from the talent that we currently have?

Get our players as strong and fit as the Crows.

Develop the young talent to deliver the optimum performance for 100 minutes like the Crows.

What the Crows showed me tonight was not enormous talent but enormous, cohesive output.

A great lesson for our players, the coaching staff and our supporters.

When we are any good as a club Newman and Tuck would probably have retired from footy or be in there 30s. Richmond needs to be pragmatic.

Ramps is right.

instead of holding onto players till they are worth nothing lets see what we can get for them.

Particulary Foley he had done nothing before he got injured. I hope that swans rumour is true.

Back to the game. We played well tonight i thought. Great effort boys and good on you Jade for playing the kids.

On a negative note that ground is a bloody disgrace. I felt like i was back at Victoria Park back in 1990.

Sitting behind the goals like all other Tiger fans u could hardly see the screen or the other end of the ground

Was a frustrating game to watch.  Caught up with WP briefly before the game and managed to wave to Mopsy and Mrs. Mopsy but couldn't catch up as I wanted to reserve my spot along the boundary from those Crows supporters.  Tippett seemed to be everywhere.  Cuz spent a lot of time puffing around the boundary.  Foley looked proppy but looked like he was going to go back on.  Stupid handballs and sideways, backwards play undid us.  Riewoldt specky was great but his confidence was down and passed the ball to Lids even though he could have made the shot himself.  Nahas was great.  Last quarter was best.  Was very cold at the ground.  We had a very drunk Richmond supporter yelling his head off next to us in the second half and I was very concerned when he started fumbling with his pants, as he was standing next to Mini-me, and then pulled a bottle out of them and offered her a drink.  He quickly left when the security guy, followed by the police made their way over.

Those Crows supporters are very quiet and barely sang the song.

These are players that I feel could get us something worthwhile in this draft. Id be looking for draft picks not player swaps with these players.

Nathan Foley
Will Thursfield or Kelvin Moore (1 not both)
Shane Tuck+Adam Pattison (both as a combo)
Chris Newman

I reckon we are playing one senior play short at the moment. I agree with playing the kids but you need someone out there to ""marshall the troops"" and show them the way, and that aint happening.
You cant rely on Cuz who has played 8 games to do it on his own, especially when he spends a lot of time on the bench.

And that's how it will remain, that was the last game at the ground in it's present state.  It's being redeveloped now for the Gold Coast team and will be much bigger when it's completed, hence the cancellation of the remaining 'home' games for us, Carlton etc.  It was one of the election 'bribes' thrown around by the state government at the last election, luckily, this was one they didn't go back on.

yep so true

many of my cousins live up there

i assume over the past 20 yrs many vic tiger fans have moved to summier pastures up north, not like there has been much to cheer about in vic hey

we have alot of support on the gold coast

we should have relocated there b4 this gc17 came in
i can live with the gold coadt richmond tigers

rather relocate like the swans did than die like fitzroy

i could handle seeing us play away in vic and lying up at least 6 times a yr to watch us play

Richmond members would never vote for any form of relocation or merger. Playing a game or two in queensland however during the winter months would have been a decent reason to go up there for a couple of weeks.

im not in favor of a merger at all, but i would rather move or relocate to the gold coast than die

1st choice  stay in vic
2nd choice relocate to gold coast or tassie as we have good support in both parts
3rd choice die
merger is not an option

I believe the Richmond team that played last night had an average of 46 games per player.

Not all doom and gloom.

Wishful thinking but how good would it be to have Neil Craig at Richmond.

they were monsters compared to us

we have a future just need someone with better conditioning ideas than wallet, he must be the only person beside male fashion designers that love skinny boys

We are so far away from it, it's not funny!!!
Last nights game was horrible to say the least, there were long periods of the game (5 minutes or more) when we could not even touch the footy. And our dispossal was as bad as i have seen in any AFL game ever!!
I must admit i am up for tanking BUT that effort last night was just not Tiger like!!! Sure we have nobody that can hit a target, ever, but if we cannot kick surely we should be able to play a one on one type of footy with tackling and pressure.
We don't even look interested, we are second to the footy and run around like chickins with their heads cut off.
Edwards must have dirty photos of someone high up at our club to still be getting a game! He is by far the worst player i have ever seen play for the RFC, and thats a pretty big mantle to have!
Also, what is with not making a move on Tipitt, Tipitt is an ok player at best but if he is clearly beating Cat, a second game player who got 5 goals kicked on him last week, and with Moore, Thirsty, Mcguane and even Post in our side why not make the move!!!!
Our club is in more trouble than i first thought and those that say our list is in better shape than when Terry took over is kidding themselves.
Until last nights game i thought we were a chance of getting Buckley or somebody good to coach us but they would be mad to go anywhere near us!
Well done Tigers, we are the laughing stock of the AFL. AGAIN!!!

Im rather content with the effort the boys put up.....Although in the end 17 pts was very flattering.

Average height Richmond 187cm Adelaide 187.4
Average weight Richmond 81.8 Adelaide 86.5
Average age     Richmond 22 yr 10 month  Adelaide 24 yr 8 month
Average games  Richmond 46 Adelaide 82

Adelaide had 8 players who had played over 100 games.....we had 2.

On paper Adelaide should of won that game by over 10 goals.I dont think last nights result would of scared off too many aspiring coaches. We were out classed by a much better team who have now won 6 in a row.

I thought it was the Crows who were playing keepings off.  Apart from the first quarter they practically shut the game down by not attcking.  At least some of our boys took the game on even though it came unstuck at times with poor disposal.

There was a move, Sylvestor was taken off him in the second half.  Or is half a game too much to give him, maybe after Tippet got one goal the change should have been made.  ::)

Yes we are so far away from it, unfortunately we have a very young side and like or lump it have another rebuild in front of us, and to get maximum value from this year must unfortunately lose games to do so.

Laughing stock; hardly I think most people gave credit to a young inexperienced side not throwing the towel in

Agree with all that Matt.  If anything the way we came back and didnt throw the towel in would have impressed some people

Is it just me or are AFL teams slimming down a bit? Geelong players to me looked much more streamlined than say two years ago. Footywire says they were on avg 1.5 kgs lighter than two years ago, but that might be due purely to team selection. I doubt the individual player weights are very up to date and one needs these to see if there is anything to it. Thought the St Kilda big boys Riewoldt, Kosi, Gardiner etc all looked to be slimmer too.

I wonder if the rule changes making the game faster over the last few years have led teams to do more endurance training.

maybe thats why geelong have slipped back to the pack a bit

its geelongs tough big bastards that keep them winning

we need size god damn it, if players like mguane moore riewoldt etc were playing under craig, they would be monsters by now

we just cannot physically develop our players its been a massive problem at punt rd for 25 yrs plus

tommy hafey would be so embarrassed at the conditioning of our teams

Mate, take off the rose colloured glasses for a minute! We were really bad Saturday night and some late goals more than flattered us. So what if were younger, played less games, weighed less, these are all just excuses Richmond supporters live on! It's time for all of us to stop making excuses and start becoming men; we are after all a very proud and strong AFL club. Well?....

And as for Cat, I was not at the game, and watching on TV may have looked worse but he at least played on Tippet until three quarter time and the game was over.

Now I know round one was a long time ago but before that game we were tipped by most to make the finals, we have lost our coach and the best result for us for the remainder of the year is to tank, so yes we are the laughing stock like it or not!!!

I was there and Cat was switched to the FWD line early in the thrid qtr when Jack went down back.

Was very pleased with Vickery's game. Thought it was the first time he was really up with the tempo of the game for the entire game  :clapping

I cant understand why you are so fired up Big Tone

I think the team is tanking beautifully.

The skill level wasn't pretty on saturday night but I find it hard to criticise the endeavour shown by our young team.

Are we a laughing stock ?.......Probably.Theres not a lot of respect for Richmond out there.

But at least the club is picking teams with an eye on the future which is all we can hope for.

and even neil craig gave us praise, he knows we outplayed them for 3 quarters and they were lucky they got that far ahead.
we had a pretty raw team with many vfl standard players and took it up to them

enocouraging signs

Yes I would have thought the PRO-TANKERS would be delighted with the result on Saturday.

As I said last week if you want losses you don't and shouldn't get a say in how they are achieved  :rollin

Seriously there were some good signs to come out of Saturday night. When the run and carry comes off it looks great  :clapping

Great result for our club but more importantly they didnt stop trying and fought it out till the end.

I wouldnt mind using our last win on the Blues though. :thumbsup

SEN just had David Noble from the Crows talking about the game. He said Richmond is up there with the best 5 goal+ a quarter teams in the competition so when we had the ball we gave them headaches. Obviously other clubs think defensively we suck and they can exploit it.

Yep happy with the efforts of the cubs and the final close-ish margin keeps the media off our backs but even a pro-tanker can still say the gamestyle is still awful and inefficient. Too much overuse of handball because we are too short and small up forward and we need to run the ball up forward by hand. Given we are putting a side out on the park that is 2 years younger per player and half as experienced as our opposition I don't think a gamestyle with a better forward structure will put the tank at risk lol.
