That looks like a Richmond starting 22 from 2008, scary
-
screw this, why should simmonds be playing in the startig 18 of coburg seniors whereas browne is on the extended bench with the potential of being relegated to the reserves.
-
I think peggles once the 4 RFC players playing for Richmond are taken out of the Coburg side all those remaining RFC players named will be playing. If that's right then Gilly is playing :thumbsup as is Browne.
JON you would think only has 5 weeks left on our list. McRae has said over the last few weeks that JON has been poor and now he's been dropped to effectively the 3rds.
-
How is Collins progress - almost due for a return ?
-
How is Collins progress - almost due for a return ?
Collo trained okay yesterday. I was a bit surprised he isn't playing at Coburg but maybe the Club wanted to give him another week just to be on the cautious side.
-

Coburg 3.6 4.8 9.9-63
Box Hill 1.2 6.9 9.13-67
Goals: Clifton 2, Liddle 2, Rayson, Gilligan, Polak, Bowden, Simmonds
-
Coburg had the play for most of that quarter but couldn't convert it into a decent score.
McRae 3/4 huddle speech:
go go go take game on. patient doewn the line when held up. be predictable as our style works. When we go away from it we stuff up. Run it up further to kick it to the hot spot. Said raines' run was fantastic that quarter. Simmo you look dangerous up there. Wings hold. We are coming in at cedntre bounces and getting squeezed. Spread from stoppages. Midfielders not to push up too much and get caught on the counter. Big Picture season is right here. Want to see plenty of spirit.
-
Is Simmo the FF we have been looking for?
Play him out of the goal square and tell him to not get in Jack's way.
Could take two defenders out of play.
:thumbsup

Could take two defenders out of play.
:thumbsup
65,
Not sure if you are taking the pee but we have already tried that this year after Richo went down with injury.
I would rather see Polly play in the goal square.
-
Cogs towards Bowden who gives away the free. Box Hill get one back.
77 - 75
-
Horne cons 50m out of the ump. 20m out. Goal :gotigers

Box Hill 1.2 6.9 9.13 14.16-100
Goals: Simmonds 3, Clifton 3, Bowden 2, Liddle 2, Rayson, Gilligan, Polak, Horne
-
Gilly's inexperience was costly unfortunately. He had the ball at HF with 15 secs to go and instead of holding it up he bombed it forward to only Box Hill players as Coburg had flooded back and the Hawks rebounded easily and kicked a goal right on the siren.
Can you believe it! Two losses on siren within a month :banghead
-
Its starting to become clear why Richmond was 1-8 at the start of the year.
-
What was Alex Rance's kicking like today?
-
Main possie getters:
Bowden 38
Tuck 27
Cogs 25
Raines 21
Clarke 19
Commentators thoughts on RFC players:
Schulz - Gawn!
Polak - Good early but faded. Maybe a fitness issue due to his comeback. Long way to go before he plays AFL. Needs to find consistency but it's a bonus everytime he gets through a game.
Rance - Very good. A star. Goes hard at the footy and takes them on.
Graham - Good but colours lowered to Robert Campbell in the ruck
Simmonds - Gawn! Kicked goals today but around the ground won't play AFL again.
Thomson - Solid. Mixed feelings as he isn't noticeable being mainly inside packs. Not getting a game in a side playing youngsters isn't a good sign.
Richo - Hammy in first 5 minutes. Ran back into defence and then had to run back forward and did it then.
Raines - Okay. Good when he had the ball however he's not that good 1-on-1.
Bowden - Very good today
Tuck - Pretty good
Cogs - Nearly gawn.
They didn't mention Gilligan.
-
would think that Polak would have to get a game soon, he was very good today
-
What was Alex Rance's kicking like today?
Sounded okay listening to the commentary (no mention of howlers or turnovers from Alex) but people at the game would be able to give a proper answer. The commentators loved Rance. In Coburg's bests along with Joel.
-
thought Graham was just
Bowden was good
Reason Polak got tired is he had a go from the first bounce, tried to Push Forward at all costs
-
Bowden should come back into the seniors for RFC.
-
Bowden should come back into the seniors for RFC.
Correct
Played up forward and in the corridor in 2nd half,

Bowden should come back into the seniors for RFC.
Correct
Played up forward and in the corridor in 2nd half,
Im not for Bowden playing at RFC in 2010 but the club has to be fair. Hes performed well at Coburg. Should come back in. Much rather Bowden in the side than someone like King or McMahon.
-
Coughlan in best, you would have to be joking :banghead :banghead :banghead

Is Simmo the FF we have been looking for?

-
Bowden best on ground again ;D gee why does this player not get promoted for his good form. l exspect him in the senior side next week or Rawlings & Richmond are Bias
stuffing Joke at Richmond
proves McRae cant coach with all them Richmond players in the side, sack him his killing the club
-
Coughlan in best, you would have to be joking :banghead :banghead :banghead
Hate to agree with you but yep!
-
I missed the game today.
What did Coghlan do?
Says he got possies but did he actually look polished or more like a cripple
scrounging for what crumbs fell to the floor?
-
I hope Gilly doesn't get dropped back to the Burger ressies after that brain fade and for kicking too many points. Coburg's finals chances are gone so let him learn from his mistakes in the VFL seniors. If he'd kicked 4.1 out of a pocket instead of 1.4 he would have been the hero today.
Coughlan in best, you would have to be joking :banghead :banghead :banghead
Hate to agree with you but yep!
Yep sadly Cogs is now just a VFL player :(. Too slow both physically (got caught a lot today) and in terms of moving the footy on quickly. Plus his kicking has fallen away badly since the injuries. The modern game has sadly gone past him.
-
What a waste of time and energy
-
What a waste of time and energy
Yep and that goes for the commentators, don't know what game they were at. ???
-
did Polak take any of his marks I50 or as a follower around the ground

hmm remember l said long ago Coughlan will struggle with the pace of the game after missing 3 years of football ;D & he should have got the ass long ago because Richmond got it wrong bigtime by hanging onto injury stricken players. They never learn.
See his came back & his body couldnot adapt to the pace of the game & his body is about to buckle under the constant preasure. l will fall over if he see's the season out in the VFL without doing a leg injury be it the knee or hammy it will happen.
Time to say goodbye to Richo, Coughlan, Polak, Simmonds, Pettifer, & our great star JON who is the worst draft l reckon l seen in many years :lol
-
JON played in the Coburg 2,s I beleive.
And Polak played at both ends today. Marked good

Richardson's return in doubt
Brent Diamond | August 2, 2009
MATTHEW Richardson’s career hangs in the balance after the Tigers’ star forward re-injured his hamstring and lower buttock in Coburg’s five-point loss to Box Hill at ABD Group Stadium yesterday.
And the injuries kept coming at Geelong with David Johnson sustaining a groin injury and Nathan Djerrkura suffering a quad injury, while Brad Ottens is understood to have pulled up sore after playing just 50 minutes and is a "week-by-week proposition" according to Cats’ VFL coach Dale Amos.
But Richardson, the oldest player in the AFL at 34, was taken off the field within the first 10 minutes of the opening term in his comeback match following an 11-game stint on the sidelines from a hamstring injury sustained in round six against Sydney at the SCG.
Scans tomorrow will confirm whether Richardson will play again this season, but Richmond officials last night feared his 2009 campaign could be over.
Richmond assistant and Coburg coach Craig McRae said it was disappointing for Richardson.
"(His attitude was) absolutely fantastic," McRae said. "He embraced the young group. He was really excited about playing today."
Richardson had just two disposals but appeared to be lively early before feeling the pinch and taking himself off the ground.
It was better news for Tigers ruckman Troy Simmonds, who got through the game unscathed, and booted three goals.
But he was beaten in the ruck by Hawthorn’s Robert Campbell, who had 33 hit-outs and 13 disposals, while Max Bailey had 22 hit-outs.
"He (Simmonds) was better forward than what he was in the ruck," McRae said.
"I think he took some time to get into the game."
Joel Bowden (33 disposals), Shane Tuck (26) and Mark Coughlan (24) were the best for the Tigers.
"Tuck’s numbers weren’t as high as last week but I think he was pretty important," McRae said.
"Joel (Bowden) was fantastic … he’s done everything that’s been asked of him.
‘‘He’s a true professional in the way he goes about his footy and to the young guys he’s a great leader."
McRae admitted it was a challenge to coach the experienced Richmond-listed players at Coburg.
"I’ve had many different challenges and I think the hardest one has been getting the Richmond guys who haven’t got a long-term future or (are) seeing the light at the end of the tunnel just dimming a little bit, keeping them on track," he said.
"That’s been the major challenge."
http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfnews/richardsons-return-in-doubt/2009/08/01/1248977242310.html
Coburg coach Craig McRae was disheartened but realistic about his team.
"I’m worried about things that I can control and two out of the six games that I’ve coached here have been after the siren, so I think we can move on," McRae said.

Round 16 Match Report
By Glenn Robertson

COBURG TIGERS v BOX HILL
ABD GROUP STADIUM
SATURDAY 1st AUGUST
The Burgers returned home to ABD Group Stadium on Saturday to take on the Box Hill Hawks. It was a vital game for the Burgers with a win desperately needed to keep within touch of the top eight. The Hawks sat just above Coburg on the ladder and a tight contest was expected. The big hype before the match was around the return of Richmond star Matthew Richardson, however sadly he reinjured his hamstring and left the field during the first term.
Coburg got off to a great start in the first term and finished the quarter sixteen points up. The only disappointing note to the term was the accuracy at goal, with the boys spraying a few shots kicking three goals six behinds. Shane Tuck and Mark Coughlan again lined up for the Burgers and both played solid games collecting over twenty five possessions each.
Coburg Tigers 3.6 (24) Box Hill 1.2 (8 )
After the great first quarter the boys let the foot off the pedal in the second term. Box Hill got on top in the middle of the ground and the ball rarely entered the Burgers forward fifty. Coburg’s defence stood up well, but couldn’t prevent the Hawks slotting through five goals for the term. Graham Polak was again a solid contributor for the Burgers holding strong marks and using the ball effectively. He has become a key component of this Burger side. The Hawks went into the main change thirteen points up.
Coburg Tigers 4.8 (32) Box Hill 6.9 (45)
Joel Bowden was back to his best form playing through the middle of the ground. His left foot bullets set up multiple Burger scoring opportunities all day and he finished with a match high thirty eight disposals and two goals in a best on field display. Bowden along with Tim Clarke and Ben Clifton lifted in the third term and helped Coburg to within four points at the final change. The Burgers kicked five goals to three for the term.
Coburg Tigers 9.9 (63) Box Hill 9.13 (67)
Troy Simmons lifted his work rate in the final term and slotted through two majors to put the Burgers in a winning position. All was looking good for the Burgers ahead by a point with only a minute remaining. However then the inevitable happened; with Sam Iles from the Hawks marking 45 meters out. He slotted the goal causing heartbreak for the Burgers players and their supporters. The loss now makes it very difficult for the boys to make the finals, with each match remaining needing to be won. It starts on Saturday as the Burgers take on the winless Bombers at ABD Group stadium starting at 2pm.

RESERVES
The Coburg reserves had their work cut out for them this week up against top placed Box Hill. After an even first term the Hawks shot out to a six goal lead at half time and the Burgers never got back in the game, and only managed two majors after quarter time. Lachlan McQuilken and Tom Groves played their best games for the year, while captain Rhett Jordan was again dominant. The boys still hold onto third spot on the ladder.
