From Mark Robinson's live blog
Q. Hey Robbo, you keep saying the Andrew Raines won't be at Richmond next year, WHY NOT???
Robbo: because I think he will ask to be traded
-
That knee is clearly stuffed and we'll never see what we did in his first few years so yes Richmond, do it, get some value that may still be left in him on the trade table.
-
Pity we didn't trade him after his 2nd in the Rising Star, he would have been at peak value.
We might get a 4th rounder for him.
-
I can see a Rodan happening here.
Hasn't been tried properly in the middle or up forward yet..
Warning Bells....
-
rainesy has some real limitations in his game being quite a one dimensional player, lacks the agility and skill of a Mcmahon and although he's hard at it he simply doesnt hurt the opposition enough when he has the pill...will almost certainly be traded
-
For reasons I don't quite understand the media rate young Andrew very highly, which as I mentioned once befor ecould work in our favour.
I reckon he'd be worth a late 2nd rounder if we play our cards right
Or.... thinking outside the square a little if you were to package him up with another player (say one of our name blokes eg Foley) then you might actually get that extra pick inside the top 20 :rollin

Agree again WP.
We got to be careful like you say. Rainesy has had an ordinary few years, but his reputation is still OK, probably because there is a lot of love for his old man. We've had plenty of players who have been untradeable because the fans and the media have ripped into them.
With Rainesy we really need to be tactical and make it seem that we want to hold onto him. Showdown talks. Last minute pleas that sort of thing.

agree he's seemingly higher rated than most tiger fans give him credit...to digress hate your silly idea involving Foley...where did you get off concocting that poppy cock :o
-
He's not in our best 22 and never likely to be. The gold Coast is his only hope i'm afraid.
-
the media rate him, but no one else but terry wallace ever did

To get a decent pick we need to dangle a big carrot. I would think he is a carrot with a lot of currency (possibly 1st rd pick) in the market place and the one I reckon out of all our mids who is expendable
Just an opinion ;D

Raines is a sprinting non thinking player who plays like his got ghosts behind him. A 1 season wonder.
His not even close to the footballer as Rodan & has not even acheived close to what Rodan has as a teen & there will be no worries about him performing for another club in the future.
Trade him now while others think he could be valuable. l bet no-one will want him cause his injury prone & a VFL standard footballer.
