For mine I think Jade is an out an out front runner but will our history hurt his chances?
Hardwick's credentials as player and assistant are higher than Jades and can possibly will get him the job. Although he has not coached at senior level like Jade has done. Jade although no premiership runs on the boards has the faith of the group and they listen to him.
With wide media speculation that the Rawlings/Gieschen ground swell look similar, will Giesches failings hurt Rawlings chances?
I think the board if they repeat with hiring the care taker coach and it fails, a ton of bricks will come down on the club. I think they may swing to the safer option of putting Jade as development officer/head assistant coach and hire Hardwick or Hinkley as the senior coach.

If Rawlings is deemed to be the best person for the job after this "process" then the Giesch history is irrelevant

If Rawlings gets the job as coach and it does not work out he can always replace Giesche as the boss of the umpires. :thumbsup
Then nobody can discard the parallells and history.

it is a tough call however the expereince that Rawlo has gained and been able to demonstrate is a compelling one...Hardwick will need to be outstanding to leap over rawlo...the blades big chance is for the team to demonstate further improvement in the run hom against some well credentialed sides...If he can then I believe he has nailed it...as far as giesh goes it's totally irrelevant...in fact no more or less than comparing to the junction betwwn Len smith and tom hafey...there are any number of varibales more important in the equation than using that as a baseline to reject the blade :shh

Rawlings has never seen a Flag as either a player, coach or assistant coach. Before he took over Richmond he was at Coburg. I seen Coburg. Coburg was and is nothing to write home about IMHO.

This is what the Rawlings supporters dont understand. Its different winning 3 flags at 1 club than winning 3 flags at 3 different clubs. McCrae did the first, Hardwick the second. In the end, Its not a contest between Rawlings and McCrae, its a contest between Rawlings and the other 3 candidates. And of the 4 in total Hardwick has the runs on board- with the one stand out = Flags at 3 seperate and different clubs. Shows he can succeed in different environments, with different issues at each place. One Last point, Coburg have been average, making the finals and bowing out is no great feat, we see this year where Coburg is out. Coburg have been average right from the start of the season.

they will realise what we have lost when he gets offloaded to Port or North. I cant believe people get sucked in after beating those teams.
After all these years, all these near misses i still cant believe people still touch themselves over beating bottom hack teams. :banghead
we have a big chance to make it right and we are screwed for the next 5 years if we choose the wrong man

i respond to that by saying that playing in a flag says NOTHING at all surrounding ones ability to successfully manage 50 poeple , galvansing that tema into a premeirship combination...nothing at all...it's all about the callibre of the individual not the bloody number of games played...for petes sake look over the coaches graveyard and see how many of your prototype sit their with FAILED COACH on the dog tags.. :o

The Geisch factor probably does from a supporters' viewpoint because we keep bringing up the similarities but you'd hope the club's process will be more sophisticated than whether Jade's situation reminds them of unlease the Geisch. You would rather hope it's based on his coaching experience to date, coaching philosophies, his management style, gamestyles, where he sees the list now, where he sees the team in 5 years, etc. What will go against Jade the most, looking in from the outside and compared to the others he is up against, is he hasn't been part of a successful side as a player or assistant/VFL coach. Does he know how to and does he have the ability to build up the team and genuinely challenge for a flag within the next 5 years (2010-15).

I've seen Coburg too - nearly every week actually.
Heading off there shortly
Ralwings did a very good job at Coburg with very limited resources.
What you may not know Ramps is that when he took over from Andy Collins, he had to deal with a major turn over in list (which is the rule rather than the exception for aligned clubs), lost 2 of the 3 best Coburg players in Neville and Ronaldson for season 2008 . Because of that he bought a number of young kids into the Coburg seniors (ed Nick Liddle, Ben Clifton, Keogh, John Morris) and they still amanged to make finals after all the VFL experts tipped them for the bottom 3 in 2008. Yes the finals of 2008 were bad but for a first year coach it was a very good effort.
Fact is since he left Coburg they have gone from a top 4 side to a team likely to miss the finals

Does anybody know what McRae's plans are?
Hopefully he won't be there next year.
:thumbsup

Back to being purely a developmental coach?
