He was finished 3 years ago. I put up a thread that we should trade him. And people as usual got all emotional and said it wasnt worth it, Brown was a champion etc etc. So what, we should have traded him and gotten an early pick.

Once again Richmond was not tough enough with player management and trades - and if that doesnt change, then we will stay at the bottom.

Brown would never have landed us an early pick since his injury

We would definately have gotten a late 1st round pick from a club that was close to winning a flag.

We would definately have gotten a late 1st round pick from a club that was close to winning a flag.

Absolute rubbish. No team is going 2 offer a late first rounder for a cripple.

you might want to take that statement back you clown.

who cares about what pick we could have got! He's a pathetic excuse of a tough Richmond player. Just another limp idiot jelly fish who only thinks of himself. He wouldnt know how to spell fight let alone ever be in one. The quicker this guy is out of the club, the quicker this club can build a team with toughness!

Yep Browny is gone sadly. Too slow and has lost that zip and agility he use to have to outwit opponents. The smarts are still there but the body can't respond. The broken leg robbed him and us of his best  :(.

The Club should give him a send off game next week. Add Simmo as well.

yes he is finished.  but what's with the obsession with giving everyone a farewell game?

to me only long time servants of the club and club legends deserve farewell games (eg with bowden today).  brown hasn't done enough for the club to deserve one.  neither does simmonds as i heard someone mention him as well.

Collingwood wanted him!

And the only people kidding themselves are the Richmond board and its management who are wasting peoples time at the moment with the coaching process. These are the same people who stood by and watched Miller be on the board whilst being an employee, watched Wallace give away a top draft pick for McMahon etc etc.

If it wasnt for the Richmond supporters the club would be dead. And we deserve better management.

Collingwood wanted him when he first came to Richmond
However even if they did still want him, to think that they'd offer a first round pick for a player that had yet to recover fully from his potentially career threatening injuries (effectively they were career ending) is just fantasy land material.

He is worse nothing  now and should just retire.

Agreed

The only other thing I will say on the issue is that it would have made the club look pretty bad if we pushed Brown out of the club after that injury. Not the best way to encourage other players to remain loyal (I do realise that Brown is probably a terrible example of loyalty).

Should retire with some sort of credibility intact next week.
Everyone was horrified by his injury and lamentably that has defined his latter footy career. Sadly he is gone and he has no value in the open market.
Still possesses the skills but he has no pace and he has no desire.
Take his age into account and he will play no part in our future.
Thanks for the memories. What endures for me is the four weeks of Nathan

Round 7 2005 brilliant up fwd in a 85 point demolition of Carlscum.
Round 8 2005 Quiet for 3 quarters on Clement but kicks 5 in the last as we come from behind to win by 35 pints in a canter against the other Filth.
Round 9 2005 kicks two late goals to get us over the line by 4 points over Brissy at the Gabba.
Round 10 2005 Brwaks his leg in the last quarter in a game that at that stage was already lost.

Ultimately he could have been anything with s especially that year but just like many stories at Richmond in the modern era it ends in demise and tragedy. This is just another one of those tales. :banghead

I dont care whether Nathan goes around again in 2010....in fact if pushed I hope he retires.

But in his defence.... What is a small forward to do when you only have 11 inside 50s in a half and 33 for the match.

Hard work trying to resurrect your career when the team cant get the ball past the centre line.

Collingwood l reckon went into the forward 50m about 15 times or more in the first 1/4

Im a clown for having an opinion. stuff your a moron of the highest order. Do you really believe in that warped juvenile mind of yours that anybody would give up a first round draft pick for a player that was a huge chance of never playing again?

And if he even did manage to return would be a shadow of what he was.

There is only one club that would consider a move like that.
