Club's explanation......

Thomson to make his Tiger debut
richmondfc.com.au
By Mic Cullen 5:26 PM Thu 20 August, 2009

GRAHAM Polak is back and Adam Thomson is in for his first game for Richmond.

They are part of five changes at the Tigers. Five always looks like a lot of changes for a football side but sometimes it really isn't.

Such is the case this week for Richmond as they look towards Saturday night's match with Hawthorn at the MCG.

Jake King and Tom Hislop will miss the game due to suspension and Joel Bowden has retired.

Mark Coughlan was a late replacement last week for Matthew White, who had hamstring soreness, so with White good to go again, the 2003 best-and-fairest is straight back out, while Ty Vickery has had a gruelling time in the ruck and the Tigers want to protect his young body.

The other two ins are Troy Simmonds and Kel Moore, who have both been good in the VFL.

Richmond football manager Ross Monaghan said Thompson, who was traded from Port Adelaide for pick 42 last year, was reaping the reward for good VFL form.

"It's just really good, consistent VFL form," he told richmondfc.com.au.

"He had a period where a few minor soft-tissue injuries and general illness got him for a bit and stopped him being at the top of his game.

"But the last few weeks with Coburg he's just shown us that he's ready to go, and we're really pleased that he's finally cracked it in the side."

Monaghan said Polak had been under consideration for the last couple of weeks.

"Polly was right in the picture a couple of weeks ago, then he missed last week with a rolled ankle but he's recovered pretty well.

"His form up until then was good, so he's got his opportunity, which is great."

Youngster Vickery is being looked after by the Tigers at the end of a long and gruelling first season.

"Ty's out of the side – he's only a young kid who's been playing in the ruck, and we're just trying to manage him as a young footballer," Monaghan said..

"He's showing a few signs of wear and tear generally – no great alarm bells, or anything like that, and Simmo's been in good form, so it's a straight swap, Troy Simmonds for Ty."

Word of advice to Ross Monaghan, cut the crap.
if you wanted to protect young Vickery, you would not have asked him and Graham to take on Jolley 2 weeks ago. :banghead.

Having known Ross Monaghan for many years I am sure that he doesn't need advice from a moron like you "Jack who has never been a star".

Ross's father taught him about integrity and team work through his own unselfish acts and Ross's great work throughout junior and now senior footy earns the respect of everyone involved in any of Ross's endeavors.

He is one of the footy brains running around the AFL who works unselfishly for the players and the club under his charge.

By your constant abuse of the people, like Ross, who are doing their best to bring the Tigers to the fore again, through expert and first hand, experienced knowledge of the abilities of the players at Tigerland and the most effective to develop their full potential as men and footballers, you bring the whole Tiger community into disrepute.

Your attitude reinforces the idea among other AFL club supporters that Richmond eat their own. For that alone you should be banned from anything to do with Richmond.

Eating your own, or cannibalism, causes MAD COW disease.  You have it mate.

You have brought your BF childish attitude across to this once esteemed forum and showed how weak you are by just abusing the club when the chips are down.

Tough Tigers get tougher when the going gets toughest, they don't cower and blame everyone else for their own failings.

Hawthorn's ruck stocks are down, which would've made it a good chance for Vickery to have a dominant day in the AFL.
Opportunity missed.

He's still a baby as a big bloke and probably getting sore after his first season.  His time will come.

I third that.
 :clapping :clapping :clapping Fantastic post.
Your right, I shouldnt bag a club that has such a sensational season.
I couldnt care less who knows who , BIG DEAL.
I watched Craig Cameron stand next to the Jack Dyer Statue and talk crap at a press conference.
You people are deluded.
wind the clock back 12 months, most of you ""NUFFERS"' wanted to give Wallace a contract extension.
:banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead.
In my opinion, they have made the wrong decision with Vickery and with Post.

Now Ekto, what are Ross Monaghan achievements.????
They would have to be better than the other Parasite we had for 4 years in Arma, but that wouldnt be too hard, would it. ::)

QUESTION.
How on earth does McMahon get a game :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead
And Brown for the matter :banghead
And Rance
And McGuane.
And White as well

Answer = ONE WORD

TRADE

Trade: McMahon for Luke Ball I say

thank god your not going to be the next coach.

Luke Ball please. Another hack who cant kick over 40 metres.

We should accept anything for Mcmahon, even Infamy's mrs will do, but all our draft picks should be kept at all costs.

wouldnt that be a welcome change

While I wouldn't call him a hack you're correct.  Luke Ball simply can't kick and we might as well hang onto Cogs if we want a player like Luke Ball.

Ball was an extremely talented junior but injuries have torn him apart just like Cogs and neither of them can keep up with the game or kick the footy adequately anymore.
