Title: Injury update 2010
Post by: one-eyed on December 23, 2009, 08:15:31 PM
From Southern Stand on Y&B:

First up, I received some mail that young Rance had an athroscope in his ankle area and will be about a month behind in his pre-season training schedule.

Interesting to see that list, I read it on the AFL web site and it blew me away, I really thought we had a lot more injuries than that. Looking at the Blues too, they had better beat us as they have a full strength side.

No need to rush Griffiths even if they just have him do another preseason between R1 and R11 that would probably be to his benefit.

Astbury played a half for Coburg Reserves on the weekend

yea interesting that owl, the couple of times richo has been asked about him, he mentions his pace on the lead that needs to be worked on, lopes a bit, which is a no no for anyone that aspires to be an elite key forward

He hasn't been aspiring to be an elite key forward at all this year, he has been played down back the whole pre-season as a potential CHB.

No mention of Collo but I guess if he played half a game on the weekend he is getting over whatever injury he had.

Hopefully Astbury will play for Coburg seniors this week. Good to hear Griffs is only 1-2 weeks away. We need to get as much experience into our young tall forwards as soon as they are injury-free and right to go.

Would like to see him get match fit at Coburg first. Would not want to see any flare ups of his injuries.

Well he cannot be de-listed until the end of the season - so you will just have to wait

But (if true) he can go on the LTIL which means we can promote another rookie

Gonna have to agree with Infamy here, TM.  Poor form spouting the "told you so"s after a young kid gets injured.

what gunna beat up on me now cause l proved a few know it alls wrong. care factor 0.  ;D
l'm not celebrating about our players going down, its the fact RFC have a history of making bad decisions, nothing more

A positive for Griffiths is that it was his right shoulder he injured not his left, which he's injured before.

Hope its just a pinched sub lax.

Yeah well your love child John Butcher has stress fractures in his back and also has needed surgery on his hip and he's not even in his first year.
You're laughing and celebrating that one of our kids has got injured so you can say "I told you so"

What a pathetic excuse for a human being you are. Do you torture puppies in your spare time?

You haven't proven anything you clown, it could have happened to anyone, especially given it was his other shoulder that's given him no problems in the past. If he gets delisted in 6 years after multiple injury problems then maybe you'd be right, but for now you're just going off prematurely. However you probably have a history with that.
Title: Griffiths likely to miss; Nason and Tambling to face North (Herald-Sun)
Post by: one-eyed on July 12, 2010, 06:15:56 AM
The Tigers will likely be without tall forward Ben Griffiths on Sunday after he dislocated his right shoulder against Fremantle.

Football manager Ross Monaghan said yesterday Griffiths, who has had his left shoulder reconstructed, would have scans today.

Ben Nason (cut face) and late withdrawal Richard Tambling (knee) will be fit to face North Melbourne.

You say it happened to his other shoulder  ;D WTF are you listening.  :banghead  Now he has 2 bad shoulders that makes him even more a liability on the field.
See how easy he was injured in a simple contest that shoulder was out in mid air. Rewoldt jumping over him in the future in a pack will make him even more a liability

Griff will bulk up and protect those weak wings! Didnt Chris Judd have weak wings early in his career? Dean Polo? When was the last time they popped a shoulder? Griff will be ok! Too early to chop him him off, imo.

If they can get him right the potential is enormous. We are looking at a forward line the likes of which we haven't seen in 40 years.

Worth the risk IMO

When I saw Griffiths injury it looked like only his left shoulder was strapped.

Now most players who have had shoulder problems (Carey, Judd, Clark Keating etc) strap both, either because they have injured both, or because if on has popped there is a higher chance that the other shoulder is weak too. Surprised Griffo didnt.

A wonder if we will elevate more rookies given we now have three players out for the season. Love to see Hicks get a call up. If by some miracle Gilligan and Westoff get a gig also that would be fantastic.

Hahaha TM, when your stranded in the desert you'd accept mud to drink.

Quite frankly you've shown your true colours.

As Infamy said your overated bean pole from Maffra has back stress fractures yet you wanted to draft him. Yet you disagree with Griffiths selection. Pick a statement and stick to it. You also know nothing about Griffiths to back your opinion, just pure speculation.

At the end of the day its a shame that Griffo is injured and his season is cut short by 5 games. To celebrate it and run your mouth on a forum claiming you predicted an injury of one of our kids, is about the most un-Richmond thing I've ever read.

I've said it before go support Collingwood where your membership lies. You're not a Richmond person and probably ever have been.

No point paying $20k per player to elevate them when we can't even fit our 1 elevated rookie into the side. Most are only on their 1st year on the rookier list so have plenty of time.

Thomson is LTIL groin, I read, must of been an issue with him for some time, I think he has had surgery.
Hislop as well, surgery.
Griff is gonna be a star.  He copped a knee in the back of the shoulder joint when his arm was fully extended.  Some things aren't meant to take 85-100+ Kg crashing into them focused into the point of a knee.  Its gonna fail, and as we seen with Barlow's leg, if it isn't a joint, It can break too, not just dislocate.  He was just unlucky.  This bloke has talent oozing out of him and size with it.  Get him brushed off and polished up for next year, beefed up in the gym, He will be a star for us.

Tyrone Vickery, Mitch Farmer and Luke McGuane will miss the remaining two matches of the season through injury.

All three have undergone minor surgery in the last week, with Vickery (hip), Farmer (knee) and McGuane (groin) all expected to join the main group at the beginning of pre season training for the 2011 season.

Nathan Foley, Ben Griffiths, Tom Hislop, Richard Tambling and Adam Thomson have previously been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Matt White will undergo a fitness test this week in a bid to overcome a calf injury sustained in last week’s match against Carlton.

I though it was more just putting the shoulder back in and stabilising it more rather than a full reco but I could be wrong Gigantor.
