Title: Team for Round 2
Post by: one-eyed on March 31, 2010, 10:08:32 PM
Footy Show had added to the squad - Polo Polak Browne Graham Post King Rance

They also compared Ben Nason to Bo Derek in 10 for matching hair.

Would love to see Browne come in and have a go in the ruck.

Well if we play King, Edwards, Farmer and Polo in the same team we are screwed IMO, Polo not so much but the three very short players in the same team..... ??? ???

Rance to CHB mcGuane as a makeshift CHF makes sense IMO.

Well that would be good I think and well overdue, but then how does that affect the structure we have apparently been building.

what about Jayden Post to CHF!

If Harwick has a plan for Post at CHB who are we to argue??
That's where Post played his best junior football.

Richmond stuffed around with Schulz's development by throwing him all over the park.
I don't want to see the same thing happen with Post. Just let him master a position.

McGuane is a much more battle hardened body than Jayden currently and will be able to take the hits week to week at CHF.
He'll contest well in the air and will also provide some much needed defensive pressure o the opposition. He is a better option there than Polak IMO.
If he's a success there great, if not then ship him off to the GC at year's end at which time hopefully Astbury & or Griffiths have shown enough to replace him up front.

Current Team:

B: Thursfield
HB: Moore Post
HF: McGuane
FF: Riewoldt

Future team:

B: Thursfield
HB: Post
CHF: Astbury Riewoldt
FF: Griffiths

McGuane GC17

Title: Re: Team for Round 2

Last week it appeared obvious that we needed an additional tall in the forward line and that there was too little forward and midfield pressure on the ball carriers.

In this day and age, you only need one of the mids or forwards to lose concentration or puff and the opposition can make large holes in your defensive zone.  I was dismayed by the way Carlton was able to run the ball through the corridor.

I'd like to think that a tall is added to the team and that we replace the mids and small forwards who let us down defenisively.  Granted that I watched the game on the idiot box and it's different from being there.

Dimma admitted today we went in last week too short. Polak one to come in.

Polak's "a player that can straighten us up," Hardwick said.

"Last week we went in with the idea that it was going to be a hot night so we went in with an extra runner … and it didn't work. We tried Ty Vickery forward and probably ended up being a bit short so we learned a lesson from that.

True about the suspension - no speculation there

However, the fact is we don't know why he has been suspended by the club.

The club have said it has been dealt with internally.

Fact is the media is speculating as to the reasons why but people are taking that speculation as gospel i.e. fact

whats unbelievable is this .Plays one game and gets suspended for activities outside football.
I have the solution.
Forget about him..
We need players that want to take this club forward.
Not to keep holding it back.
Hardwick and the club needs to drive unity and everyone focussed on the tasks at hand.
Dont need players going out on the pee after a flogging in Round 1

i actually dont caren what he has done. stuff him.

you show me one club where a player is elevated for a game then gets dropped the week after.

he should not play another game this season.

Absolute garbage.

Raines is playing good football for a guy who couldn't get into the 1s at Richmond and playing mediocre footy at Coburg.

He'll look much better with the bigger bodies to block his way at Brisbane. Still will go to my grave and say the Astbury pick is 100 times better for us then keeping Raines. Still has to many brain fades and gets caught far to often.

Pretty sure we got Brisbane's pick 44 for Raines; which we used on Dea not Astbury.  We took Astbury with our pick before at 35.

GO TIGES!!!

The Tigers are at just 83 per cent strength, according to Champion Data's Full Strength Indicator, the lowest figure of the round.

Cousins, Nathan Foley and the out-of-favour Shane Tuck make up 15 per cent of the Tigers' best 22.

Western Bulldogs are ... operating at 95 per cent on the FSI.

yep they are strong all right but look at the structures  they are big right across the park. matching up height size wise is a pretty hard exercise.

personally i would like to just keep them honest  by playing lsimilar types against similar types. eg they are tall down back and bloody big morris lake and williams lets give em opponents that they have to mind  lets match em up with similar types to what they are.

lets start with the forwards  hmm lake on polak, williams on post morris on riewoldt or a combination of these. morton who is decent in the air on hargrave but he has to work defensively. gilbee gives them drive make him accountable by putting cotchin on him a player who will hurt him if there is no respect shown. harbrow i would play collins on. type for type and accountability structure  and flexability.

He debut in 2006, that makes him is in his fifth year this year.
Maths not one of your strengths yellow and black ::)

Anyway, been discussed this week that he might be swung forward.
With Post now playing and being earmarked for CHB and with doggies not overly tall down forward, we will see what happens ;)

Richmond debut may have been 2006.

Was recruited on rookie list in 2004, so in his 6th year at Punt Road.

mguane was recruited as a fwd, played all his life on the gold coast as a fwd.
early n at punt rd he broke his arm pretty bad, and they played him down back cos we had richo  schulz and browny up fwd and we were desparate to develope back men

If you are talking about McGuane he was never a rookie

He was drafted in 2004 (the Lids, Tambling, buddy draft etc) with a pick in the mid 30's (36 I think)

I dont doubt this one little bit Mopsy. I have set it my mission in next week to try and find any post he might of made back in those days about how he liked this player or that.

I am so sick of everything negative about our Club. I realy think that your past might just come back to bite you Jack.

If anybody finds something before me please post it here as I am very busy over the easter weekend. If not, then trust me I will find how you contradict yourself.

Go away you idiot or we will force you away.

You know what Jack you are right this time. I was over the top with my repsonse to your comments.

The thing is Jack is that you have to understand that your constant negative comments and know it all attitude can get to even the more mild mannered posters on this site.

We are all here (I hope) for similar reasons. We love the Tigers, we want to share and discuss all sorts of opinions on all things Richmond. But Jack you spoil this for many of us and I have no idea why. I just cant seem to figure out why you are here. Why would anybody want to spoil this for other Tigers.

Well I have said my peace, will leave it at that, I honestly cant be bothered searching old posts for what you said on certain players as reading old posts of yours would be very depressing.

It's Orthodox Easter ans well as what I'd call normal Easter (not meant to offend anyone) Owl

Orthodox Easter is a massive family day and it will impact on the crowd numbers I reckon

I'll be honest I turned going to the footy down today. Probably the first MCG game in 15 years. Since I've only got foxtel this year wanted to get some use out of it, plus Easter.

Not a good sign as I'm sure I'm not the only one in the boat and I'd consider I'm pretty loyal and will always go regardless of how bad we are. Attendances will be really down this year.

Feel bad, shoulda gone but good coverage on Foxtel, James Hird is a genius. Get him to the club. I said 7 months ago. Brendon Gale President / James Hird Coach double would get us closer to a premiership.

Brendon at least came but as a CEO. I want Hird involved somehow.
