Goes without saying I'll be there OE.  We have a group of 9 and my main mission is to try and woo grandson #1 back into the fold - his Lion's barracking cousin and father have been having a negative influence since we haven't been winning so a Tiger win will go a long way to helping!

Our recent record against the Lions has been good - 3 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss - although we haven't played up at the 'Gabba since our win in 2006  :o.

I heard a rumour that Wallace is on your flight in first class, apparently he is still coasting off the money he made off the RFC.

It's Ebola's 200th game tonight. Considering the delight he took in ruining our Centenary game the other year, pointing to the scoreboard and mouthing off to the cheer squad once the result was in the bag, let's hope we can return the favour and spoil his big day.

Going to be a real laugh if we get up.

The media should absolutely give it to the Lions as there couldn't be two different approaches to list management between us and the Lions.

Well we seem to play against teams just about all the time that have some sort of milestone on the day ::) So the boys should be used to it today.

On the other hand if the Lions come out and play like a team destined for the finals then the question should be asked; where has that type of play been over the last 7 weeks and did they only get up for Fev??

I am a bit more worried about this game, this will be a real test for us IMO. I was ver confident going into the WC game but this game.. well, lets just hope the boys are still up from last week and they transfeer that to the field!!

GO TIGERS!!!

Has it been that long?  That's when mini-me got a signed footy from Joel Bowden.  Mini isn't so mini anymore - she towers over me.

You've got to remember that Fev has only played about 10 games for the Lions, so the milestone wouldn't mean much to the team.  8)

The final teams are listed in the AFL website.

Black is out and Cornelius comes in.

Richmond unchanged.

Thats a big win for us on top of Brown!!!

Massive out for the Lions with Black out. He's not a quick as when he was younger but he still has the footy smarts and skills to still be dangerous.

Looking good for us. Hopefully we come out with the same intensity as we have over the past month especially last week.

Love the biff at half time, real Hardwick like, I also loved how Hardwick had a word with them after that.. ;D
I love it! We have been in heaps of argy bargy since plough left! It shows loyalty to the team mates and that they wont be pushed over!

I was just talking with the family and saying that over the past 4-6 weeks we have really startde acting as a team and the boys are looking out for each other. GREAT to see!!

Great that we were able to steady and regain the momentum after Brisbane challenged with those two goals from 50s.

Proving we are more than capable of matching it with sides that belong in the bottom 6.

With the confidence gained from these 3 wins, I look forward to seeing us against a top 8 side.

I saw the game, great to win BUT ...

1) we have afew blokes who are playing like millionaires and think there ability is greater than what it is
2) we have afew blokes who are still liabilities
3) it was a shocking game of footy from 2 ordinary sides and Brisbane was badly depleted by injury prematch

4) Deledio, Edwards, Riewoldt, Tuck, Martin, and afew others are making the core of a good side.
5) Collins was good also- and I note this coz in the past Ive criticised his performance.
6) Improvement can be seen in the game plan and in some players- thats very good.
7) Id like Cousins to play on in 2011 but Hardwicks post game interview was problematic on the Cousins issue.

very true Ramps re: Cuz and the Dimma interview. I got that feeling too.

Great win more pleasing that we won when really pressured in the last but lets put it all in contest.

it was no top 8 side so therefore hard to get a gauge of where we are really at but a win is a win.

These wins against bottom 8 wins are our bread and butter most years so im sure Dimma is putting a lid on it.

Tambling again a failure of the highest order. What a joke he is becoming. Looks lost whenever the ball is in his hands.

Farmer still not up to it IMO, however that kick which resulted in a Matty White was a beauty.

The rest should play next week.

Agree boys although its nice to win and go to a break with a win we have beaten three poor sides or three sides in a huge form slump.

The positives is we have won well in all 3 games however the better sides will beat us well on the scoreboard.

The fact of the matter is we still have holes in our list that we must fill in the draft and the clubs main focus

should be to ensure we still finish bottom.

As for Tambling yep I agree Daniel is really struggling. Is very expendible right now and has had no impact on

the side.

Now, was it Fev' 200th or 2nd game tonight.... ::) ::) :o :lol :lol :thumbsup

Hmm I feel for Fev absolutely thrown to the gallows by Carlton. A 2 month ban to the VFL should have been before a trade. He looks uninterested and pretty lonely up there. He's a good guy Fev for all that is said about him.

Farmer does things in games that give hope that he may still become a decent player. IMHO I prefer him to King or Jackson and maybe afew others.

First 3 points are a bit soft Ramps.

1) Examples? Fairly harsh comment IMO. No 1 looks to be getting ahead of themselves and everyone is working at 110%. Thats not being a millionaire, thats blue collar hard work.
2) Common Sense. We're 16th on the ladder, if anyone thought otherwise they have rocks in there head.
3) Don't agree at all. Was a good game mixed with contested and free flowing football. Brisbane were depleted, is a rubbish what if excuse, they still had 22 blokes giving it a crack against a vastly less quality and experienced line up who were a man down when the game was at its hottest. Sure Lions were aswell but They had 22 all in the 3rd term and Buchanan came back on with 10 mins to go.

Vosso was so noticeable tonight. He's a horrible umpire. The 3 50m penalties were as soft as they come. The Fevola free kick in the goal square, a goal in the last term when Tambling tackled I think Patful who just put the ball on the ground and Lids stopped waiting for a whistle and it was play on. Stakers play on and missed that was brought back. Brisbane got all the help in the world to win that game.

We were challenged in every part and worked hard to get the little wins across the ground.

Cant believe what I'm reading.

5 weeks ago you'll find everyone was questioning Hardwick and 70% of the list and naming 15 players to be moved on. Now we've had 3/4 wins and everyone is unhappy that we're happy with success lol?

The gameplan is getting easy to execute we beat Port in the wet. We beat West Coast by half a dozen goals and we beat the Lions who are out of form but was at the Gabba and this year havent been easy beats up there.

King has improved out of sight Ramps. Not enough to get a new contract but his last month has been his best since he was drafted.

Jackson well we would still have won without him. If he has value then must be traded.

Farmer's kick to White was the best kick ive seen come off his boot this year

As a supporter I was unhappy to see us turnover the footy on quite afew occassions tonights, the 2 x 50 metre penalties we gave away were undisciplined acts that cost us 2 goals and kept Brisbane in the match. There was other stuff, but overall I thought it was a very average match tonight, but the kids are winning so that in itself is valueable.

Not questioning Hardwick, never have Pope merely stating our wins were against sides in poor form slumps and that the better sides will still beat us comfortably and that we should be looking forward to the draft this year to bolster our squad. If Dimma is real he'll cut another 8-10 from our current list and reinvest in the draft.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves. 3 wins is nice and are valuable to a young team but the key to us is whether in 2012 the steps taken this year and next will have us knocking rising up the ladder.
Usually with kids in their first season they tire towards the end of the year anyway so I'm expecting that to happen to our first year players too.

I think we may have different views on what undisciplined means.

Matty White was chasing to man up Travis Johnson and encroached in the 5m unprotected area which gets paid 1 in 10. You could maybe call this stupid if your in a bad mood but as how I understand the rule you can be within 5m, and or run through the mark if your following your opponent. Which is what White was doing.
Jackson was being held when he had the ball to give back to the Brisbane player who won the free kick. Shockingly harsh especially 1 min after the other 50. Not undisciplined, harsh strict umpiring that would be fine if it was consistent.

10 mins later Graham marks on the wing and gets wrapped up by Rockliff who wasnt in the contest and Graham fumbled the ball. That is 50m penalty under 2 different rules.

Go figure.

I think you've woken on the wrong side of the bed Ramps lol. The game was entertaining. Jack taking screamers and Collins snapping goals. Farmers y0m pin point passes, Edwards magical goal against 3 on the goal line, Griffos first goal Martin taking on every Brisbane player. It wasnt a bad game.

Yeah sorry to single out your post, just bit confused at how needy we are yet when we get what we want we are dissapointed that we don't play like Geelong and beat the flag favourite every week.

Hardwick will definetly move players on:
Simmonds
McMahon

both will definetly be gone.

Next you have about 5 maybe delistings

Polak
King
Rance
Hislop
Thompson

Next some possible trades

Jackson
Morton
Tambling.

You start to go through the second stage of turning the list over. The most pleasing thing is that we have a game plan that proves it can win games, and its with the personal/players that will be around the club for the next 5-10 years.

Really pleased at the effort of the boys tonight. At least we aree beating teams in form slumps. In the past we usually played them into form.
I'm not going to micromanage  the win. What I saw out there from the boys tonight was belief plain and simple. I will give a few thumbs up though..
Graham - His mobility has improved dramatically and his positional play has been excellent in recent games.
Edwards - Dangerous all night
Martin - all class. I hope he turns out to be the best 3rd pick in History
Riewoldt - Merritt was very good tonight and he still got 3 on him.
Collins - very good game and with all the defensive attention going to Riewoldt, he is fast turning into another genuine goal scoring option.
Cuz - in form and seems to be really enjoying his footy atm.
Lids - Was everywhere like Kochie at a mining disaster. showed really good composure throughout most of the match

Other highlights
Justin Sherman - LMAO@ having no left foot.
Amon Buchanan - knows he's played a game of footy
Fev - Looked like Tom Hanks in Castaway looking for "Wilson"
The Lions Runner - Well done mate! Cheque is in the post!

Geelong beat them by 80 odd pts up there in QLD .....we have the next best result.-FACT.

Well done to the boys  :clapping.  Beating the Lions up there is no easy thing especially when they are in finals contention.

Couldn't believe the umps, some more absolutely atrocious decisions especially later on in the game with Fev's mark ? and the two Lions dropping the ball cold.  Couldn't take a trick out there tonight.

The Lions are a slow slow side, players like Nason, White and Lids etc made them look silly at times.

The Lions are a slow slow side, players like Nason, White and Lids etc made them look silly at times.

At the game, the umpiring didn't seem nearly as bad as recent weeks Chuck but there were still the few obligatory howlers (that always seem to go against us).

And you are so right about them being slow, we ran them off their legs.  White, Nason, Deledio, Edwards, Farmer, Collins, Connors and Tambling all ran rings around their opponents with varying degrees of success at different times.  Some of my thoughts of the game:

Deledio will win his 3rd Jack Dyer medal by a big margin.  He is now starting to lead from the front and play very very well over 4 quarters.  He was tremendous last night.

Graham and Edwards have both made me eat humble pie this year.  Their improvement in the first 11 rounds has been terrific and shows how important the right development is for young players.

White is an underrated player who plays a very important role for the team, another who is showing the benefit of 'real' development.

Farmer is improving slowly and making it harder to mount a case for dropping him by the week.

Tambling was nowhere near as bad as many have said.  You really do have to see the game live to appreciate a lot of the little things - the gut running, the blocks and shepherds - that he now brings to his game.  I think some people might be making the mistake of judging him as the running midfielder we think he should be but his value to the team in a 'team' sense is underrated.

Nason - see Tambling re: gut running.  To play the type of game he is in his first year is quite outstanding.

Riewoldt is going to prove so many of his knockers wrong over his career.

Cousins is not done just yet.  Not saying he will or should get a gig next year but his output and value to the team last night was very good and very important.

Tuck is the poster boy for footballers doing whatever it takes to keep their career flame burning.  He has reinvented himself in such a way that it will be now very hard to consider anything else except a new deal come year's end.  He was fantastic last night.

Our backline are now starting to play as a real team.  The difference in the player's knowledge of the game plan and their efforts to stick to it, between the first game and last night is huge.  We are now winning games because our players have almost entirely obliterated the ingrained nightmare of the Wallace/Frawley eras characterised by the 'stop, prop, run backwards' ethos that saw us susceptible to every slight bit of pressure from the opposition.  We now take the opposition on with an increasing level of confidence in our team mates efforts to support us and when the opposition have the ball we now get in their faces, pressuring at every opportunity.  The difference between now and then is quite staggering, and all this on the back of very young and inexperienced kids.

I read some media reports of a "comical" game last night riddled with mistakes but that pays our team a great disservice by ignoring the effect of the pressure our tackling and hard running put on them at every opportunity.  We were much more committed, much more polished and nowhere near as "error-ridden" as our opposition.  The game was played on our terms and some inexperience is all that prevented a much greater winning margin.

And finally, to the Brisbane supporters - we would have to be the noisiest interstate group of supporters going around.  My guess would be that about 5k of last night's 28k would have been Richmond supporters and the noise they made, made it appear that the figures were around 50/50.  Fair dinkum, our players would have thought it their own home game at times and the sound of the song reverberating throughout the Gabba after the game was just fantastic.  The roars you could hear on TV were not mistaken - our support at the game was huge for an interstate team sitting on the bottom of the ladder.

Positives were won interstate again, kicked over 100 points and did not have to rely on Jack kicking a bag. With any win there is a bit of luck involved- no black, and no brown. Yes Brisbane were out of form but we beat them at their home ground which stands for something. I agree we have a long way to go to challenge the top sides but at least we are heading in the right direction. Hard decisions at the end of the year will have to be made regarding some players and we must not back away from making those decisions if we are to succeed

Ramps, the turnovers last night compared to our first game would be easily less than half.  We have improved out of sight in our skills and delivery in just 11 games with a team of kids.  It's like the media wankers writing us off as "worst team ever" after half a dozen games yet none of the fools looked at the little signs of improvement that were quite easy and plain to see if you took the time to look.  Don't judge this team on one single game or facet - look back at the season's end and then make the call.  I reckon you will be very satisfied with the improvement and direction.

I do agree wholeheartedly with your comment on the 50mt penalties, we need to improve in our on-field discipline at times.  But having said that, the Richmond of 2009 (or even early 2010) would have let the game slip at that point, so we keep learning and improving all the time.

when I made the comment about players playing like millionaires it was about instances where they coughed up the ball looking for a smart alec type of play more disturbing was a couple of instances where our key defenders went looking for the big grab in the defensive 50 rather than punching. Can recall this cost us a goal or 2 - the kid that came in for Black, he made us look silly one or two times in this regard by outmarking our defenders and then going back and kicking the goal.

The one thing that has stood out for me over these past 5 weeks,is that yes we still make errors and alot for that matter, but our decision making has improved tenfold and continues along this path.
I dont have the stats in front of me,but i wouldnt mind betting the error count of culprits like jackson, white, edwards, has decreased by a lot.
Even someone like Tuck who was prone to errors has improved by a lot.I have a theory about shane that he needs to keep his football simple...get it and kick/handball it.I think previously he was trying to be all things to all people,eg inside player, outside player,creative,3rd string ruckman etc etc..This boy needs it kept  nice and simple and he has excelled.
One other thing we are now almost the best in the league at clearances and have become a lonk kicking side.....Something i know us generation of the 70s is damn proud of and brings a smile to my face, anyway

winning the clearances, the ability to win the contested football and long kicking have been important in us winning games. Keep it up

I'm tired and losing my voice but very happy.  Managed to sort of catch up with WP & bg25 (thank goodness for mobile phones) and Mopsy and his lovely wife.  The boys stood firm and wouldn't let Brisbane in.  Funny to see all the kids (and big kids) having a kick after the game.
You were on the tellie
Really?  Are you sure?  We were sitting near the boundary but under the stands.  Probably me trying to kick the footy after the game and almost taking some kid's head off - lol
Last quarter.  I think it was when Jack kicked a goal, but could be wrong

I don't understand the constant attacks on Tambling and Farmer  :o

Tambling has grown a massive pair this year and is winning his own ball, shepherding, blocking, tackling and playing an extremely team orientated game this year. Sure it means he doesn't have the ball in his has as much but his importance to the team should be measured on these elements.

Farmer has played the small backman role well this year and improved every game. He is one of the biggest kicks in the team and set up two goals this week from these long kicks. Having him running out of defence along with Newman, Connors and Lids and kicking these long, direct passes to our forwards is a big reason we are a much higher scoring team this year.

I sometimes think when people make their mind up on someone it is almost impossible to change them around. I'm no King fan but I have to say he has improved this year - I'm sure that just as hard for me to say as it is for many of you to admit Bling and Farmer have improved also.. :shh

when I made the comment about players playing like millionaires it was about instances where they coughed up the ball looking for a smart alec type of play more disturbing was a couple of instances where our key defenders went looking for the big grab in the defensive 50 rather than punching. Can recall this cost us a goal or 2 - the kid that came in for Black, he made us look silly one or two times in this regard by outmarking our defenders and then going back and kicking the goal.

Yes agree Ramps
l myself cringe when our defenders try to pack mark  :banghead  when a punch is clearly the correct option

9 different goal scorers was a real positive for mine....much better than 3 weeks ago when we only had 2.

Yeah lets see the knockers come out now and say we are too Jack focused!!!

WAT the knockers were correct at the times they posted.
Its only recent form from all players that everything is falling in place.
It could all collapse just as quickly but this time l think that wont happen.
If l'm knocking something or someone & the tables turn for the better l will be 1st to admit.
l dont no no dick like you telling me  ;D Go to Africa  :lol

Did we notice how many times Dwayne Russell mentioned during the telecast that Richmond had won its fair share of spoons.

7 Dwayne......only 2 more than your beloved Geelong.

And 19 less than St Kilda.

Yes I noticed too! I thought he needed to add, in recent history! But it is still not "our fair share"! I'll give him one thing, i think he was referring to our effort as a lowly placed club against the effort of a more experienced, more successful in recent history club!

Here's the link to Hardwick's EOTT report on the Brisbane game. Tactically everything went as planned.
