Shame mcmahon is getting a game ahead of many in the coburg reserves
-
What I don't get is, if Westhoff is coming off two consecutive bags of 5 goals for Coburg's seconds, what he's doing on their extended interchange bench??
-

Very strange isn't it. Perhaps he will be named in the seniors team but that doesn't seem likely either. Something must be going on....

You maybe onto something Stripes. It doesn't make sense otherwise ???. Duhau is listed on both benches so probably as usual the positional line-ups on the teamsheets are meaningless.
A big game for Gourdis to put his name forward for Richmond promotion with McGuane injured. Hopefully Postie and Taylor also have good games for our future's sake.
-
I really looking forward to seeing how Hicks performs. He has been in the best for nearly every game he has played this year despite the team. Small but could be a fantastic midfielder or forward for us in the future.
I agree with you MT on Gourdis. I think he needs a big game here to be elevated and I would love to see Post kill them up forward and get a bit of mongrel in him to match his ever increasong size.

Polak knocked out after a head clash with Thorp :(

Thankfully Polly is talking to the trainers and removed his mouthguard. I hope he is okay.
Off on a stretcher.
-
Hope Polak is ok ..
Shocking kick to him
-
Relts from the boundary bounces through a point.

Jordie long from 80m out. Rance gives a slight nudge from behind but Morton crumbs a goal :gotigers.

-
Grimes playing his first? senior Coburg game
RFC players starting on the ground: Polly, Morton, Jordie, Post, Grimes, Rance, Nahas, Polo, Gourdis, Webberley, Browne
Browne kicks a point.
Coburg get it back through Lawton but his kick to Browne was poor and Werribee run it up the ground for a goal.
8 - 9
werribee with a 2-3 goal breeze

Hicks and Roberts playing as well.
-
O'Reilly out there too. So 14 RFC guys all up.
8 - 10
Very scrappy game so far.
-
Free to Rance for a hold. Goal :gotigers. One poor kick in midfield but been good so far.
14 - 12
-
Post rucking nice tap to Pusseilli who flicks to Roberts on the boundary but it OOTF.
14 - 14
-
As much as I hate to say it McMahon's delivery by foot is a stand out compared to the rest of the side
Not sure who is opponent is though
Gourdis mismatched on a 175cm small forward which is a bit weird
Polo's left foot is shocking
-
Quarter time
Coburg 2.2-14
Werribee 1.10-16
Goals: Morton, Rance
Very lucky Werribee kept kicking points and were having shots from out wide.

Stats:
McMahon 9 disp 4k 5h
Polo 8 3k 5h

Yep fairs fair Jordie was very good that quarter. A cool head in defence too today.
Polo looks gawn at the end of year.
Nahas and Morton pushing deep into defence so at least they are working hard.
-
Nice tap behind into space by browne to Puselli. Goal :gotigers
20 - 17
-
Hicks long to the goalsquare. Roberts front and sqaure kicks a goal :gotigers.
26 - 17
-
Postie almost took a speccie. Point to Puselli.
Sloppy play by Coburg on the wing. Webbs and Roberts missed targets by hand. Turnover results in a werribee goal.
27 - 23
-
Good spread to the wing by Rance opens the play. Long kick clears the pack with the breeze and Roberts taps in a goal off the ground in the square :gotigers
33 - 23
-
Rayson out of defence again to Nahas over to Rance who hits up Post on the lead. Goal :gotigers
39 - 23
-
Dopey ump has reported the wrong Coburg player in Carnell. It wasn't reportable anyway as the Werribee player bounced off Browne into Clifton's path.
-
Roberts point.
40 - 23
-
Goal to Werribee. Ball came out of our forward line to easily.
40 - 29

Lawton hits the post.
Coburg intercepts the bad kick-in but Postie kicks it OOTF instead of centering the pill..
41 - 29

Another goal to Werribee. Coburg had the numbers at HFF but Werribee cleared it.

Gourdis 6
I've like Rance's game as well. Two errors but workrate both offensively and defensively has been excellent.
Rhys-Jones likes Roberts. Saying he'll just need to lose the excess weight and he'll be fine as he has the natural ability, poise and is now learning to run to the right spots.
-
Rance that was not your ball. Jordie was running onto the mark and Rance spoiled him :P
-
Hicks' poor kick is cut off on the wing and Werribee goal.
48 - 42
-
Maybe Rance doesn't like him either
-
Jordie's running around jumper-less :lol and off with the blood rule. Coburg's defence too busy fighting rather than watching the ball. Goal to Werribee and they are in front.
48 - 49
-
Maybe Rance doesn't like him either
:rollin
-
Rance some fancy dance moves on 50 and kicks long where Browne marks in the pack. Goal :gotigers
Coburg back in front.
54 - 49
-
Werribee goal and they're back in front.

All Werribee in the seniors. Dominating. We need to hang on and need another goal to kill the momentum.
Sheesh our kicking in defence is pathetic at the moment. We might as well give it Werribee players. And now add 50.
54 - 62
-
Good mark to Jordie on the wing. It ends up with Morton on the boundary 30m out. Ends up a rushed point to Coburg
55 - 63
-

Werribee once again easily out of the centre ::) and they get that goal straight back

Point to Clifton. Goal umpire initially gave it a goal but it was touched.
Webberley has another shot but it's also rushed through.

84 - 90
-
We got a free for too many in the centre swuare but stupidly Clifton gets caight holdign the ball on the wing instead of the ball being pumped inside our 50.
OOTF to werribee thankfully. still only a goal down.

Browne was our best I thought, then probably Gourdis and as much as I hate to say it McMahon was quite good (hard to know how his opponent went off the tv)
Post looking like he'll be ok in time and although Rance wasn't great he did a couple of nice things, if only he could get some composure
Polo & Morton were shocking, would have to be on the way out at the end of the year

Agree with this
-
For those that remember back during the draft,
Matthew Scott (42 for Werribee) was one of my smokies along with Tom Harms that if drafted late or rookied they could make it at AFL level.
Was a shame to see him get shirt fronted and forced off the field. Prety unluckyy ricochet off Browne into Carnell path and got cleaned up. Wont get suspended even though there was a report.
He looked on early on, good hands. One to keep an eye on anyway.
-
Get Polo off :banghead
He is a hack i wish they dump in years end.
watched him at Coburg a few weeks back and was soft in so many ways. Is not a smart footballer at all.

Age match report
Jordan McMahon, who was with Polak on that fateful night in 2008, was one of the better Coburg players in its seven-point loss yesterday and remains hopeful of adding to his 148-game AFL career.
Despite at least four impressive performances this year at Coburg, the former Bulldog has been on the outer at Richmond. ''I hope the opportunity comes," he said. ''It gets frustrating at times, but I can only do the things that are in my control.
"I've had a chat with [coach Damien Hardwick] about what I need to do to get myself into that team. He's told me a few things to take on board. I've been doing everything in my control.''
McMahon said he had no plans to retire and would play out the season with Coburg.
Robin Nahas came off with an injured calf but returned in the second half to kick two final-quarter goals. Tigers ruckman Andrew Browne was dominant for Coburg, while North Melbourne's Leigh Adams was best on ground for Werribee.

Can anyone who attended this game tell me if McMahon is still playing the same type of football or has he developed a defensive edge to go with his attack and run?
-
Roberts played well in the second quarter his last goal was very impressive. Browne was good but gave away a stupid 50. Polo was poor. Morton was okay but not great. Post was okay. Webberley was okay. What do people think about the coach of Coburg?
-

Well he did take a couple of contested marks, gave us a lot of run out of defence, and was among our better players. But, like a nun, I think he's just as likely to slip straight into his old bad habits if given a senior recall.

I think his nickname should be "Mumbles", because you can't hear a word that he says at the huddles.
-
Just as an aside, there was a fair bit of niggle at the game. The Werribee reserves all hang around the far wing, yelling out insults to the Coburg players. Real childish stuff like;"Hit the Post" when Post is lining up for goal. But nasty stuff too.
Further up the same wing the Coburg reserves sit in a group yelling stuff over the fence to put off the Werribee players too. It got pretty heated in the 3rd qtr, when Post and that no.5 for Werribee tangled.
Just after the 1/2 time break as players were taking their positions, I heard a Werribee player say to Robin Nahas "the little league have left the ground", pointing him to the change rooms. :lol

Narrow loss for Coburg
richmondfc.com.au
Coburg suffered a narrow seven-point loss on the road against Werribee at Chirnside Park today.
The Tigers led by 12 points at half time but conceded seven goals to two in the third quarter and trailed by 22 points at the final change.
Coburg rallied in the last quarter and got to within five points in the dying stages, but the surge was left too late.
The in-form Graham Polak was carried from the field after a head clash in the opening minutes of the match, but was later cleared of any damage.
Relton Roberts was the leading goalkicker for the Tigers with three, all in an electrifying second quarter burst. Mitch Morton and Robin Nahas each kicked two.
Jordan McMahon was the leading possession winner with 26, Jeromey Webberley had 23 and Dean Polo collected 21.
Andrew Browne was excellent in the ruck, and David Gourdis was solid deep in defence with 10 marks and 14 disposals.
Coburg takes on Port Melbourne away from home on Saturday July 3.
BEST: Browne, Piuselli, Webberley, McMahon, Gourdis, Rayson

Mcmahon got alot the ball. Good run and kicked well.
However the bad still out way the good. How many goals did the other sides small / mid forwards kick?
Mcmahon still had far too many moments of softness and often lost contested 50/50 situations. Not good enough against a side with so few afl listed players. Most many years his younger.

That's it. If you are trying to build a culture of accountable footy, then McMahon needs a lobotomy and a heart transplant before he is going to be a valuable part of the list.

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but Andrew Browne had 36 hitouts against Werribee.

the guy with the schit on his arm is Mitch Thorp taken at pick 6 in the 2006 National Draft....and yes hawthorn overlooked J. Riewoldt.

Yep. Hawks delisted Thorp last year IIRC.
Btw Postie was found guilty for rough conduct at the VFL tribunal and has copped a one week suspension.
