Next up is Postie...

What are your expectations for Post this year and what would he need to do for his 2011 to be classed as a good year for him?

Just having him at half forward makes us a better team. That's one more tall who can take a mark and one less tall double/triple teaming Reiwoldt because they will take Post instead. He was extremely promising in late 2009. He bulked up a bit for 2010 but took a while to get his fitness up after adding the extra kilos. But he looked promising again later in the year. Looked fitter in those last few weeks. I reckon he is ready to play regular senior games and start to worry teams at half forward

still think he should play at chb.
needs to find more of a physical presence regain some pace and most importantly start to pull down some of the marks he regularly gets his hands to but drops.
lets not forget though he is still only a third yr player.

Don't know why anyone would want to see him play down back, he's been lost when played there
We have David Astbury who could be a 200+ game CHB for us and looks like a natural down back, why mess with that

Actually the only thing i want to see from Jayden is some intensity at the contest make that just osme intensity

HJopefully if he can do that the rest will take care of itself

2010 was a very ordinary year for him indeed

has he geez he looked damn good at hb as a junior.
astbury can play either end geez 3 goals on debut never to be seen forward again.

He did play up forward again, just didn't do much at all while he was there (which is to be expected considering he's 19 or so). Astbury is our CHB

I thought he looked pretty comfortable in defence against Sydney and Melbourne early in the year. He looked completely lost at FF in the Sydney game though. I like him at half forward or half back

Very slow and lacks aggression and mobility.
Think Jayden could be a victim of the new interchange rules and don't expect him to play much this year.
Astbury shot well past him in '10.

If he does get a game it'll likely be up forward and those bucket mits are going to have to take everything that comes his way if he's to make his mark at AFL level.

I think he is just one of those kids when it comes to his footy it seems is too laid back and just meanders through the contest and game.
Would like to see him more aggresive. Thought his last few games were okay but needs some sort of defining moment whether it be during a match at training or even chatting to a coach that will change his thought process and get the lazy and unmotivated out of him for his own personal longer term development and benefit.

Has a big leap and a good set of hands does Jayden. Needs to get motivated this year

Too many negative, impatient replys here  8)
I'm sure those same people were getting excited late in 2009. His signs late in 2010 were pretty good. He struggled a bit early because he bulked up and wasn't used to the extra weight. Think he'll be a pretty good half forward/half back

I worry about his speed, defensive pressure and fight but I think perhaps this more to do with his overall fitness and understanding of the game more than any incorrectable flaw in his makeup. He is still very young but unfortunately for him, other talls are making quicker progress than he is. Given the new Substitution rule, Postie will be competing with Vickery, Browne and Derickx for the same position as 3rd tall forward/relieving ruckman so he will have his work cut out. He will have to prove his additional worth as a forward over the others because you would imagine the players mentioned would clearly have the edge on him during ruck duels.

A wish him all the best but I think Vickery may have the edge on him in terms of agility and pace at this stage.

Errr Not really because....

Had the same concerns back in 2009, and those came to the to the fore more in 2010 (read defensive side of his game being almost non-existent) and have created big ?? ?? ?? coming into 2011

Young tall, has done some growing since arriving at the club, groomed in a few different positions, my expectations are still quite low. Won't be getting concerned about his development unless he hasn't shown much improvement by the end of 2012.
Another 7-10 games this year.

Thought he showed a bit at the end of last season. I'd be happy with steady improvement.

not looking at overrall performance, just how he goes about the little things that are weaknesses in his game - chasing, defensive pressure, sustained running and his physical development like speed, strength size agility.

Agree. He's played a massive 15 odd games. I think his knockers need a reality check to realise they probably struggle to get out of their armchair let alone to ever being close to playing afl  8)

I don't have ridiculous opinions of Post though. I'll give him 2 years at least until I have an opinion. I have no problem getting out of an armchair though. Stopped playing footy after high school to watch the tiges instead  8)

Fair enough man but why retire? You would have been playing in the 11am game for your local club, so you'd still be able to see most Richmond games.   ;D

im accused of always being negative so will refeain from the negative.
what i like about him is the way he moves and believe it or not his aerial work.
yeah people will say but hes slow, which i would disagree with.
the thing  i was very disappointed with was his aerial work last yr.  he got his hands to contested marks numerous times only to have the ball spill. this is normally a strength of his and it was not until i found out he played most of the yr with some kind of hand injury that the penny dropped.

of course we all want him to work on the defensive side of his game and i hope he can regain yes regain a yard of pace. time is on this kids side ffs hes just entering yr 3. for a tall hes a baby.

Postie did play today so he's not injured; just not in favour. Surely he could get a game ahead of Miller  :P.

Thank heavens. If he can't get a game ahead of that witches hat from the Dees then he should be delisted at years end.
Come on Jayden..
