Title: Dreamtime game fully ticketed [updated]
Post by: Phil Mrakov on April 21, 2012, 01:23:14 PM
Ponsford exhasuted
Olympic exhausted
premium exhausted

Just got tickets for the Dreamtime game and everything was poohouse..

Had to go for level 4 southern row t :(

All reserved seats are already sold except for the Southern stand level 4.

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up seeing that it isn't our home game and most people would reserve seats for this one.

Yes, I booked them online.

And yet we are forced to play on a 'max 20k' dunghill when the stated policy of the AFL is to "maximise attendances".  Bullsh1ter extraordinaire is our Adolph.

You will find that the best seats arent unavailable on the net and are released sections at time
If you go to an outlet, you can select what seat you want

You are spot on Jack

MCG do this all the time

They release certain sections throughout the entire ground, they don't release any further sections until the first lot are completely sold out

There's no way this game could be close to a sell out as it hasn't been announced as a "fully ticketed game"

Oh yeah what rubbish why don't they just put not on sale yet instead exhausted.

The afl are ******.

All for people giving the AFL a whack at anytime but don't whack them for something that is not of thier making

How & when sections of tickets are released on the net are the responsibility of the venue not the AFL, in this case the MCG is run by the MCC not the AFL

So your whack should be directed at the MCC/MCG

Spoke to the MCC yesterday and they confirmed that all PREMIUM seating for this game is sold - there are no more seats to be released, last lot were released last week.

Problem is caused by them needing to cater for Essendon members; in that the Bummers have made all members purchase a resevered seat this year (or something) which meant the MCC had to allocate them more premium seats

All that is left is reserved seating and general admission  :banghead

Would be interested in seeing if anyone has visited an outlet in the last couple of days to see if they've been able to get premium seats because the person from the MCC was adamant that they are sold out

Only posted what the MCC told me yesterday

All PREMIUM seating is sold out (premium seating refers mainly to level 2 around the stadium). They told me that due to the Essendon member situation basically the only premium seating that was available to the visiting members & public to purchase was on level 2 of the Ponsford stand it it sold out very quickly

Yes you can still gett "reserved" seats but they are top deck of the stands

Yep level 4 Southern Stand is reserve seats currently on sale = top deck

Just spoke to ticketek and they told me that level 4 Southern stand is the only reserved seat section currently released for sale. They cannot sell anywhere else because the MCC (god bless them) havne't released any other section and wont be until that section is sold

I've seen the same thing many times, WP, when I've been looking to buy tickets for a game on my visits to Melbourne.

I start trawling the website when the tickets first go on sale, but it takes a lot of daily visits before I can get a seat in a place that I think is good to view the game.  :banghead

I don't like seats behind the goals or in the pockets. I prefer something near the wing, but these are becoming difficult to get and very expensive when they are available.

There's gotta be a better way for us interstaters apart from moving back to Melbourne.   :huh

jack as I said only posted what the MCC told me and let's be honest regarding "PREMIUM" seats they would know

I was told Premium seats went on sale on the 13th and all of them have been sold, there are none left (Premium means level 2 section N) all other seats are classified as "reserve" seats and they are currently on sale on a section by section basis. But the MCC person told me they are no more seats available for level 2 = section N throughout the MCG. Not potting you Jack but I'd take the word of the MCC over ticketek any day

Also, I spoke to ticketek on the phone this morning and was told by the bloke that the only seats he was currently able to sell is level 4 (upper deck) Southern Stand and that they cannot sell any others because the MCC has released them for sale yet. I actually out of interest asked him about the premium seats and he said what the MCC told me all are gone

Title: Re: Dreamtime game nearly sold out?

That makes it 44,000 seats

Correct they have about 45k members Jack and all their members from what I've been told have had to purchase a reserve seat with their membership this season (source Bomber mate who is no longer a member because of this).

Hence the problem with the "premium" seats

What about RFC receiving a ticket allocation from EFC?

Surely in the same way we had a small allocation from the GFC for last weeks match then would not EFC have some sort of allocation for RFC members say 16 game members to actually have a decent seat to watch the game or an opportunity to watch the game.

This is madness.

An 100000 seat stadium with seats in at Rod Laver Arena for opposing members to sit this is heinous.

So Essendon are a much better side than either Geelong or West Coast, neither of whom managed to "smash" us and were both relieved to come a way with a close fought win?

What a joke trying to get tickets for this game has become if it wasn't already  :banghead :banghead

Only tickets still being sold on line are still top deck Great Southern Stand

Rang ticketek today asked if there were any other areas available?

Liz for ticketek said NO - that's all that's released fro sale at the minute. I asked do you have any idea when other areas will on sale. She said NO suggest contact the MCC/MCG

Phoned the MCC/MCG and was told by the lady that for now they are the only seats available and no oother seats will put on sale until those bays are sold out. She then told me contact your club they may have tickets in other areas, I said they've emailed members and said go to ticketek, she then said have you tried to contact them and see what they have for sale.

I said to her
1/ I've spoken to ticketek who told me to ring you and
2/ you've actually just told me the only seats on sale at the minute is top deck of the southern stand

She then said wait until next maybe more areas will be released then  :-\ :banghead :banghead

And around and around we continue to go  :banghead :banghead

Anyone got any suggestions
Title: Re: Dreamtime game nearly sold out?

I got tickets in the Southern Stand as I am going with my brother n law who is an Essendon supporter who is not a member of the Bummers.

I ended up getting row cc in the Southern Stand as best available seats. It's a one off although I am not happy at all. This situation is terrible. Just because the Bummers require their fans to purchase reserve seats with their memberships surely the AFL or the RFC can have an allocation of seats available to RFC 16 members or RFC members to actually sit together or have an opportunity to purchase tickets.

How a club can hijack a stadium and large sections of the seats are unavailable for a match 10 days from the event and expect fans to be happy is farcical.

Another reason to hate those mugs and hopefully the boys win for Newy's 200th that night to rub it in and provide some sort of adequate retribution. I just hope I can see the ants from where I am sitting way up above in the boomdocks. :thumbsup

GA is sold out. The MCC (20k) and AFL members (20k?) would push the crowd figure above 85k if they mostly show up. If they all (up to full capacity) show up then you get 100k.

Because of the seats allocated to MCC & AFL Members

MCG cannot sell those seats to the public so a "sell out" becomes club reserved seats & seats sold to the public excludes MCC members

Why cant members with a 16 game membership gain entry to the ground with the intention to stand.?
The AFL are double dipping by forcing people to buy a seat.
If they allowed people to enter and utilise standing room, they would get a record crowd .

More like the Essendon policy of packaging their total membership with reserved seating.

This always gives me the ....... You can have a 'sold out' game and then half the MCC and AFL members areas are empty. Why can't they organise it so that the MCC and AFL members also have to pre-book tickets and if they find days earlier that there are seats remaining offer them to those on the waiting lists and failing that general public for a good price?

Sold out games should be sold out  >:(

I am talking people on the waiting list. While not quite elitist enough I agree, they have at least been screened and are in training.  ;)

Just think this would add further funds to the MCC Coffers too. Spare seats when they could have filled the stadium half full with the demand for general admission seats, is a waste for mine. Has to be a way of filling the ground.

SEN just said only standing room and restricted view available in the public areas. Still seats available in the AFL members but they expect them to sell out as well by tomorrow night.

MCG twitter: "No, there won't be any standing room available at the gate tomorrow night."

The mcc will b close to capacity dont worry about that!
For what it's worth I pay good money for my mcc and believe I
I have the right to turn up as I please, more often than not in
comfort, no excessive queues for food drink, space and choice
of where I sit. This is what I pay for!
Just like the grand final if you want to be at these games you
fork out at the start of the year and do not bring affordabity
into it some can some can't, it's just part of life.
Oh and go Tiges let's rape our dreamtime bishes  :gotigers

Never imagined at the start of the year that this game would be bigger than the grand final rematch on the same weekend. Hopefully it will be good finals atmosphere conditioning for the players. Especially blokes like Ellis, Morris, Batchelor and Conca.

From the MCG facebook page

A crowd of 85,000 is expected at tonight's Dreamtime at the 'G between Essendon and Richmond. All public seats have been pre-sold, so there won't be general admission entry. Match starts at 7.50pm. Pre-match actvities from 7.00pm. All gates open at 4.00pm.

The MCC handed over 3500 of its own seats for public sale to this match (which all sold) and we expect the remainder of the MCC Reserve will be very well populated. If history is a guide, the main gaps will be Essendon reserved seat members who don't use their seats.

the bummers have a system where people that know they are not going to use their reserved seat can let the club know and it can then be on sold, on a game by game basis.

That is a great system and one I wish the MCC and AFL reserve would adopt.
