Indian Tigers Supporter Group
This supporter group will provide you with an exciting introduction to the Richmond Tigers and the game of Australian Rules Football. The Tigers’ home ground is the mighty MCG. As with cricket, it is a great place to watch elite-level football.
The Richmond Football Club is keen to build on its relationship with the Indian community. As a result, the Club has formed the Indian Tigers Supporter Group. This supporter group will provide you with an exciting introduction to the Richmond Tigers and the game of Australian Rules Football.
Indian cricket great Rahul Dravid is delighted to be the patron of the Indian Tigers Support Group.
“Sport brings people together. I have seen that all over the world. It’s great that Richmond is connecting with the Indian community,” said the champion batsman, who visited the ME Bank Centre at Punt Road Oval on the eve of the 2011 Boxing Day Test.
“I like the idea of the Indian Tigers supporter group – it will give Indians another team and another sport to follow. I have watched some games on television – it is fast and very physical. It would be great to see a game played in India one day.”
Indeed, Richmond does have aspirations to play an exhibition game in Mumbai in the near future. As part of this planned activity Richmond officials recently joined a Victorian State Government Trade Mission in India this month.
We would like to offer you a free three-game Richmond membership for the 2013 season, as well as an automatic, free membership of the Indian Tigers Supporter Group.
Your free Indian Tiger Membership entitles you to:
· Access to any 3 home games in Melbourne
· Personalised 2013 membership card
· A unique inner sanctum experience at the Club, before a game at the MCG
· Personalised communication from the club
In 2012, the Richmond Football Club achieved a significant goal by signing over 53,000 members and breaking our all-time membership record. We want to be even bigger and better in 2013, as we continue our quest for 75,000 members by 2014.
To join the Indian Tigers Supporter Group and become a member of the Richmond Football Club, fill in your details below and we will contact you shortly.
Do they count towards our mebership tally?
And what is the cost to the club?
:cheers
I reckon they will..
I don't think this whole Indian thing will work..
When I see 50 Indians at the G then I will believe it.. Also when there's a few Indian members on OER

Richmond great, Dale Weightman, is convinced the Tigers have the capacity to become the strongest club in the competition for membership numbers.
“If we get in (to the finals), and I know it’s going to happen, but if we become successful over a period of time, where we are playing finals consistently, don’t worry about Collingwood having 75,000 (members), we’ll blow them apart!

First they copied and took our idea of playing two home games in Hobart .....
Then they recently decided to do this preseason's training at Craigieburn ....
And now North have 'Target 10,000' new members for their latest membership campaign.

How big is the Maurice Rioli club? The old social club membership. So if you have a MRC membership you just RSVP the Club prior to gameday and you then just rock up to the ME Bank Centre after the game. There are also guest passes. It also guarantees the holder a Grand Final reserved seat ticket if and when Richmond finally makes that last Saturday in September. The MRC will be at capacity in 2013 so the only way anyone will get in from then on is if someone else drops out.

Oh I see lol. It's the Social club room on the top floor of the ME Bank Centre. So virtually the whole upper floor. He is going to be doing an apprenticeship as well smokey, heavy duty mechanic. Will do his basic training at Wagga and then will be posted somewhere for his apprenticeship, not sure where that will be.
He was going to join last year when he turned 17 did the exam, passed easily but decided to put it off for 12 months so he could finish school
They are coming down for Xmas so I'm expecting more details then
Fair enough, he's made a good choice - I hope the lifestyle is for him. When I was in, the vehicle/engineering apprenticeships were mainly done at Bonegilla near Wodonga but I'm not sure nowadays. 12 weeks at Kapooka - he will remember that for the rest of his life regardless!! ;D
IMO we'll pass 60k with ease. My tip is 64,269 :shh We'll get more than the Whoreks from 6-8th spot while they make top 4.

is it a case of people still reluctant to become reserved seated members
because of lack of success?
this is what the membership dept need to be trained in, upselling these
to our supporter base.
mind you doesnt the bombers only have reserved seating albeit capped.

I cannot understand why hawthorn is so far ahead of us ,and ahead of carlton and Essendon for that matter.Sure they have had huge success over the last 20 odd years ,but i always thought we had them covered for supporters.Other than the dogs and cats story is there a reason why they seem to be doing so well in the membership stakes?
I reckon it's got a lot to do with peeweak supporter parents of other clubs.
I don't know how many times ive seen young kids barrack for the hawks and the parents support another team.
For me it was ...
.... I'm into the footy and passionate, you want to marry me i have one request....you support the tigers. We have kids & they support the tigers no matter what.
If you don't like it get out of my house!
....quite simple really.
With the kids they've complained alittle over the years, at times might have been alittle ashamed to be seen in the yellow and black but now they are all very passionate tiger members and very excited about the future.
Ever since '83 the hawks have reaped the fruits of success and benefiting from parents that allowed their children to support them. That's a whole generation of support due to peeweak supporter parents of other teams. That generation are now members of the hawks and so are their kids.
In my opinion, those parents that have allowed this type of nonsense to occur from their children is un-Victorian. And that opinion counts double for Richmond supporters! :gotigers

Collingwood is a monster at the moment isn't it. We should overtake Essendon after Christmas but we are a long way off the top three membership clubs currently. Surprized Sydney aren't higher.Collingwood's target is 75k while Hawthorn's is 65k. The Eagles are limited by the size of Subiaco and their tally will include those on their waiting list. Mid-high 50k was their tally last year.

We're still doing well for a club that has been in the wilderness for yonks. :cheers truly a sleeping giant the only competitor to Collingwood in terms of support and major sponsorship.
In terms of support absolutely, reckon we have every bit as many supporters as them, major sponsorship, not even close, in the bottom echelon of clubs historically when it comes to corporate dollars. I know 2012 was a record for us so well done to the club, would love to know how we compare to the rest of the comp in that regard. but still think its pretty low compared to hawks and other mid tier clubs

I agree we are behind the Pies, Hawks, Bombers and probably the Blues who have the biggest deals but would think now we are on par with "mid tier" clubs and ahead of the lower clubs eg Melb, Port, Saints (they only have one major been trying for 2 for a few seasons now)
Not getting ahead of ourselves, but what kind of sponsorship could we get with sustained success?

Definitely should have arrived by now, so I am going to have to assume something has happened to it in the post on the way to your address from the mailing house. What I will do, I will run over a new card and pack to the post (it’s about to go) and send it in an express post bag.
Just in case you receives two packs, please throw out the card that receives in a WHITE plastic post bag, and the one that arrives in the EXPRESS bag is the correct card.
You should receive it tomorrow, if not Saturday post is also going.

Enlighten me then Mrakov. What was the impetus that spurred you on to make such an outlandish comment?
I understand that we need more money but your brute force approach of increasing membership fees by such a huge margin would only end up discouraging many from renewing and therefore offset any new memberships.
Im with Mrakov, although $500 is a bit high. If the club can hit us up with a finals campaign then a GF in the coming years would be happy to pay whatever is required as will a lot of people. They will come in big numbers if we make the 8

The AFL audits the figures. That's why in the past there was a discrepancy between the Club's tally which included both match access and non-match access memberships and the AFL's official figure which only included match access memberships and in some years was 7000 less than the Club's figure. The club will rig it and still announce 60k even if we dont get themWe had 26,284 at the same time last year. Even 55k looks alot at this point.
Some whinger on the RFC Facebook said Aussie Post lost 500 memberships that were sent prior to Christmas. Is there any truth in this? I renewed on the 14th of December and the cut off date for pre-Christmas arrival was the 13th so I know I wasn't eligible (didn't even receive a confirmation email until the 19th of December), but ours haven't arrived yet and wondering if I should chase it up? I assumed it would be a little delayed do to changing membership package and signing up the missus.I'm in the same boat mate. This is ridiculous!
Interstate membership race is on
richmondfc.com.au
Monday, January 21, 2013
Richmond is challenging non-Victorian states to show their yellow and black passion, by launching an interstate membership race.
The Club is holding a competition for the first state to reach 2000 Richmond members. Prizes include flights and accommodation to the Tigers’ Round 21 match at the MCG.
To enter the interstate membership race, simply join or renew your Richmond membership for 2013.
Last year, Western Australia and New South Wales led the charge for interstate members, with 1713 and 1706 respectively, closely followed Tasmania (1672), Queensland (1616), South Australia (1580) and Northern Territory (837).
Interstate residents that have already signed as a Richmond member for 2013, have automatically been entered into the competition, however, for a greater chance to win, refer a Tiger fan to become a member. Click here to refer a member (http://membership.richmondfc.com.au/refer-a-tiger-fan.html).
Richmond has specific memberships for interstate residents, as well as Richmond Supporter Groups in most states.
For more information on 2013 membership packages, go to the Club’s membership website (http://membership.richmondfc.com.au/) or call the membership team on 1300 742 466.
Competition prizes:
1st prize – Flights, accommodation and match day benefits to Richmond’s Round 21 clash against Carlton, at the MCG, on Saturday, August 17
2nd prize – Richmond guernsey signed by the 2013 playing group
3rd prize – Brett Deledio signed and framed photo.

I wonder if international members qualify?

Yeah and you had a sook about it not being there before Christmas. Get with the program guy before I start snipping for no reason
You nearly missed round 1 because of this! What an outrage!
Got mine yesterday as well... with somebody elses in there as well :o
Renewed my memberships the day we were able to, and mine just arrived yesterday as well. I don't have any children so it's not a big deal for myself, but I can understand the frustration for those that do. It is a little disappointing when they guarantee you'll get something and they turn up a month later. Why aren't you sooking like WP

The Club was the one that promised/guaranteed (again) if you signed up before a certain date then your membership would be delivered before Xmas. They failed (again) to meet that guarantee. Don't promise something you cannot deliver

Makes no difference if these are just renewals - what really counts is how many of these extras are new members because if theres say only 1000 new members of the 6000 then we aren't making the inroads necessary to get to 60,000 members.

There was no update last year for 24/01; the next one was 25/01/2012 when we had 29,007. So if we are close to 35k tomorrow then we'll be 6000 ahead.

There comes a point where you reach the maximum and then you cant grow the membership numbers anymore - what happens then?
Club needs to find ways to increase revenues from membership by value adding. You cant exponentially just increase member numbers year after year. There comes a point where you reach the maximum and then you cant grow the membership numbers anymore - what happens then? Clubs done a good job but they need to do more on 1) maximising members 2) maximising membership revenue 3) creating outside sources of income.

Thanks but I forgot to add that
Point 3 is the most important point for me. RFC needs to start building income sources from outside the club that can be built on over time. I dont care what it is but the club should invest in a business and try and grow it over time. What they invest in is up to them of course. Plenty of opportunities all over the place and with the number of members and supporters over Australia Im sure we'd all do our bit to make it a success.

It is a good point and ultimately when you rely so heavily on one source of income for incremental revenue you end up squeezing that orange to the point where you end up with the pip.
I've always thought we could better utilise Punt Rd, particularly on big matches - Richmond and Non Richmond games.
Prime space, close to the G - pre and post game, great car park access, next to the trains.
Most importantly - it's unique, no other club can do it so it would be protected income.
Captive footy audience and it has the 3 most important rules for retail - location, location, location!

I agree it's a unique asset and we need to be more creative about building a source of revenue from Punt Road.
There is unfortunately a problem with capitalising on Punt Road for games at the G - I believe that traders at the G have an exclusive right in their contracts with the MCG trust and the AFL.
We are not allowed to set up an operation that may take turnover away from the commercial interests (food vendors, merchandisers etc) that supply MCG/AFL crowds.
Of course we should be able to use our facilities with our own members but I think that's the limit.
IIRC this issue was raised a few years ago and the limits were pointed out to the club however it's probably worth having another shot.

GWS are doing really well for a new club. Interesting if the success of the Wanderers is helping to promote the Western Sydney brand up there.
ACT members make up 3000 of the total membership (Sheedy or their CEO mentioned this in the last week or so). The growth has been mostly from within Sydney it seems. The Giants are now double the figure they had at this time last year. The Swans btw are 10k ahead so perhaps them winning the flag has helped attract more interest up there as well.GWS are doing really well for a new club. Interesting if the success of the Wanderers is helping to promote the Western Sydney brand up there.
It's not. They have a shed load of ACT members which inflates their numbers.

Just out of interest does anyone know what sort of membership sales we usually do on the family and supporters day which is fast looming?A few hundred I would've thought (from memory). The ability to renew online these days as well as rollover memberships means it's not as many as people would think. Not so long ago heaps of supporters would wait until the Family Day to renew but online renewal has changed this I've heard.

41,424Just over 800 behind the Bombers now. If we're signing up around 500 members per day we'll have 43.5k by Friday and should jumped ahead of Essendon.
Doesnt their membership include a reserve seat? I suppose most of us hand over $100 bucks a year for the Tiger Fund on top of membership, so Its hard to tell how to measure it all.Yep it does Ramps.

As for us, from memory our membership revenue last year of $7,600,000 divided by 53,000 equates to around $143 per membership. So if we reach our target of 60k this year then the additional 7000 members will generate around $1m in extra membership revenue.

If we beat the cheats round 1. Then beat the 2 bottom feeders we'll be 3-0 going into the pies match.
Beat the pies and well easily have 65000 members this year.
If we lose to the cheats then we won't make 60000 this year.
....that's what I reckon anyway.

They have some seriously wealthy backers and it wouldnt be surprising if 1 or 2 or 3 of them have all purchased 3000-4000 memberships each to lift the figures. They were losing touch with the big clubs they had to do something to catch up. ;)

Just need to wait for the right time to launch the announcement
I must have been at the same function as you willy, and yeah 48k was the number
you know what annoys me about the Blues figure.
Once they reach 50k members they will screaming to the AFL for MCG home games and will probably get it
This may happen just as we are about to challenge come 2015
hey scum. FO
you know what annoys me about the Blues figure. They've already got Kernahan doing radio ads saying they want to move their home games to the 'G and they can only do that if the Blues reach 50k members. I've heard their current Docklands contract runs out next year and Carlton want to go from a 7-4 Docklands/MCG split to a 7-4 MCG/Docklands split. That would mean other Vic clubs will have to make up the shortfall to satisfy the AFL's contract of some many games (I think 44?) at Docklands.

At the function I went to last week IIRC they said they were expecting to be around 52k by round 1If we take last year's figures as a guide ...
OER, would it be safe to say that a win on thursday week could send the phones into meltdown on the monday?? I think yessss, let's do it tiges. Being good friday the blue baggers could eat their own jumpers instead of a steak :shhYes!

Correct smokey, unfortunately they have a massive membership revenue bc of this, from memory was behind only collingwood in terms of $$ revenue and almost double ours even though we had 4-5k more members

The big issue for our club isnt the membership numbers its the AFLs plans for Punt Road. This could be the biggest issue weve faced in years.

We're still 6000 ahead of this time last year. So 60k is still achievable. Membership growth slowed significantly last year after our round 1 loss. It won't this year now we've finally won a round 1 game.

Like it or not they do, they sell alot for those 3 game memberships.
Plus they sell a fair few 16 or in their case 17 game memberships because they offer something that I reckon is a great idea and that's reserved seats for away games. Hence, their members have the same reserved at the MCG for every game. Extremely popular!!
Been saying it for yonks RFC should look at doing it too

Is there a reason we don't have reserved seats for Away games at the G? Is this a question for RFCO?
Surely, instead of worrying if the block they purchase will be able to be sold, send out an email and get expressions of interest from members. If they get 5000 replies saying "Yes, we are interested." then they'll know it is feasible and can proceed?

I think they're like the Bummers and have a ceiling on their numbers due to stadium size. Same for the Crows too I think.

The sooner they put nought into tassie the better, get the hawks out of there and see a drop of 10k tassie supporters off their membership total to put them back in their box. tbh I still find it hard to believe they have 50k members in melbourne, just dont buy it.

Since Hawthorn came to power with their 1971 Grand Final win, in the next 41 years to 2012 they have only missed the finals 15 times, with their longest stretch of 'outs' being 5 years from '02 to '06. In the same period Collingwood have missed 17 times with their longest stretch of 6 'outs' from '95 to '01. In that time Hawthorn have won 9 flags and finished runner up 5 times. On those figures alone it's not hard to see how their supporter base could have and would have built up with such a long period of sustained success. They had powerful sides with charismatic figures (Hudson, Matthews, Knights, Brereton, Dunstall, Platten, just to name a few) and sheer weight of successful results would have proven irresistible to many young kids over time. I still think they fudged their figures early on when they miraculously 'doubled' their membership in the very same year that the AFL was using it as a basis of calculating compensation for losing Waverley as their home ground but I don't doubt that today's figures are genuine. Whether their supporter base is as passionate as ours is another matter entirely because ours has stuck and grown through a couple of embarrassingly long periods of failure ('48 to '66 and '83 to today) whereas Hawthorn were perennial easybeats for the first half of their club history, taking 52 years from 1925 before playing in their first finals match in 1957 and only making 3 finals series (1 flag) prior to 1971. Our support is genuine, hardened and proven while their hardiness and ability to stick the tough times is unproven. And while we have a very large latent support base that has yet to fully come back out of the woodwork, I believe the support we see from Hawthorn is all they've got.

smokey, i just find it interesting that their huge membership never seems to translate into crowd figures. In the blockbuster games you will always see large gaps in their members section. Over the years at various times you go to big blockbuster games involving us, carlton, coll and ess now and then you will concede they have more fans, louder roar etc, I cannot recall once ever going to a haw richmond game and thinking "poo they have a big contingent".
Also about the success, absolutely they have been stunning in the past 40 years, but prior to that they were the worst side in the comp, they would have been coming off a tiny base from the previous 40 years of nothing. I also look at noughts success in the 70's and again in the 90's with arguably the greatest player of all time at their helm taking them to 8 prelims in a row and that has done sweet f all for their base. I think a large portion of the fans from the old power clubs have a strong success rate in keeping their kids following in the tradition so whilst the hawks have had a stunning run of success I dont think that would equate to this large a membership base. ill concede I have no facts to back me up and i may be wrong - just find it hard to believe :thumbsup
in summary, Hawthorn sign up pets and Norf are faeces

People not happy with the tiggy express
That's the first time I've seen the Geelong cheer squad without their knitted quilts.
The more dawks supporters I meet confirms the suspicions I've had for some time...I'd hate to be your son :shh
They have the most turncoat, disloyal supporters in the VFL/AFL.
In my opinion their success in the eighties has created a generation of support to the detriment of clubs such as Richmond.
The dawks really didn't have a big supporter base that we see now. This was a result of their success in both day and night grand finals which caught the imagination of many many youngsters.
Now in my household I didn't give my kids a choice who they wanted to barrack for, but obviously there are many softie limp wristed parents out there who allowed their kids to choose another team.
If you don't beleive this to be true just ask every Whorethorn supporter what his first team was or what jumper his parents bought him when he was a baby! You'll find I'm spot on with this.
In my understanding most of them just went with team on the top at the time and during the eighties the dawks were there most of the time.
Really as much as I scoff at them for being the traitors, defectors, deserters, apostates and jumper swappers, I don't really blame them as much as I blame their pussy parents for allowing it.
In this city it's sacrilege. :banghead
The more dawks supporters I meet confirms the suspicions I've had for some time...

Time to introduce the 3 game membership, basically stopped to a walk now
We have a home game at Dreamtime, one against Carlton time to market these two games and include them as part of a 3 game membership. Maybe the reverse fixture against the Dockers too.
Don't need to introduce them TM they've been on sale since 2013 m'ships went on sale ;D bought one for my nephew who can't get to games because he lives in QLD soon to be Wagga

So when does the bandwagon kick in?
I think membership trending is all based on dwaino's suck-o-meter. If we do beat the Bombers as Mrakov suggests, dwaino's suck-o-meter will be off the charts and our membership dept will be firing along like its running on Scooby Snacks.

Outselling St Poopoo
For all those reason that people put out and ridicule north ,I admire them. For close onto 30 years they have not only continuously put out a competitive football team ,but along the way have won a few premierships too. They are a club we should all admire, great character despite it all
Tucker don't you think we can learn a few things from them. They are a club who have enormous spirit. How many times have they been almost down and out and yet bounce back.that says a lot to me.They have been kicked around like an empty tin can yet when on the park they give their all.Can the same be said about us especially looking back 20-30 years

Coterie 89.
RFC is proud to announce the formation of two new Coterie Groups. Coterie 89 in recognition of the 89 point loss to Geelong in the Prelim of 95 and Coterie 68 in recognition of our 68 point loss to Brisbane in the Prelim of 2001. Spots will be capped and you'll have the opportunity to have a game day experience mingling with stars on the club rosters during those years like Stephen Jurica, Craig Biddiscombe, Adam Slater, Mark McQueen, Craig Ednie and many more.
As I said spots will be capped and if we still haven't made finals by the end of 2015 we will have a new group on offer for season 2016 Richmond 5000 to commemorate 5000 days since we last played a final. This will ensure unlike 3121 where you are more likely to win first division lotto instead of getting a GF ticket you'll be front row at the race at every thrashing to give the boys all your verbals and then some for the sum of about a cheap pair of scissors so instead of cutting your membership or microwaving your membership you can throw it at the players ala Gieschen and Frawley era like so you can live retro weekend every weekend.
Make no mistake Malakies the Tigers.

It seems the Club has put the membership tally cue in the rack and will happily sit on 60k as a final tally for 2013.
The membership page is now saying if you sign up for 2014 general admission membership then you'll also get entry into the remaining 2013 home games for free.
Stupid. Could've got 3-4k more members

Just hope the $190 price they offering for the 2014 membership now, is what they charge when current members renew for 2014 (eg Nov onwards)

Just wait till all the Whorethorn supporters, the most fickle of supporters worldwide, start jumping off the Dawks once they start to rebuild & sliding down into the lower half of the ladder. The great majority of those front runners will start proclaiming a new allegiance to the next top club to hit it big.
They'll be jumping back on the tiger train back supporting the team of their birth or maybe they'll just start following the 2 colours they've always wished they had. Once they experience true passion, true affection, true attachment and singing a truly great song then they might learn a thing or two about loyalty.
Like they say, "Once you go yellow & black you can't go back!"

and that coming from someone who refused to go to the game because of one team selection ::)
oh, you've been to more games than me :bowWhat are you on about. :huh
:lol
that was one of, if not the, most fickle, petty things i have read/heard from a so called supporter, and undoes anything else, real or perceived, that you think may entitle you to judge others and look down on them.
The pies are now selling 1 game memberships - 1 game, scarf and hat for $50:clapping and upgrage to the $95 option and get a discount dental consultation ;D

But I made a vow to the club & I'll stand by it because the club owes me. :thumbsup
Anyway I've been to more games than you ever will. So STFU! :shh
And we tiger supporters can't be accused of being fickle not after what we've been through. No way Jose!

Exactly. Probably not even a member.
In any event, craves entitlement over others. Reminds me of Raines, Cloke and Wood in the early 80's, the antithesis of Richmond. Glory hunter at best
You get to go to games for free and a scarf + whatever extra's if you for out the for better memberships, what else do you want?

Im on neither side of the argument, but this statement is complete rubbish.
"You get to go to the games for free".
LOL
What do you actually think your membership is buying?
Of course you aren't getting into games for free.
whoa, how are they going renovating the G to fit 200,000 :shh
