Don't know what it is :huh Was just driving home from work listening to Triple M when Nathan Brown said that after 12 when Damo is on he will have some news out of Richmond, and Brown said he heard it and said it was big.
'Big news' is certainly subjective. Does anyone know what it could be? Just did a quick look around these forums and it doesn't look like anyone has posted anything yet. If it turns out to be totally poo can this thread please be deleted.

Talking about Richmond and their depth now. Gary Lyon pretending to be on our side and talking up some of our blokes like Grimes. Said Damien will be on soon. Apparently Damien and Brayshaw had a confrontation on air last night so some are joking about these two talking again.

Although having played football for many years and now attending games ,i'd like to think i maybe can spot talent when i see one.However thats probably not the case in reality.i dont work in the world of football and not up with the latest .And furthermore my opinion is muddied by the colors black and yellow
Up until now i have been more or less gobsmacked how Ohanlon keeps getting a game ,and keep hoping to find something in this kid which i think justifies him getting a game.Last night i saw 2 things....an aboslute thumping kick on the boy and an ability to hit packs like a freight train......I guess thats a start

Rumour from a mate who is pretty well connected in Eagletown and has been reliable with info in the past. But..........a rumour is a rumour is a rumour!
Had lunch with a Perth footy club director today who told me that Conca
will be in FWCE colours very very soon even as early as 2013. I think
from memory that he is contracted until 2013 but the FWCE want to add
some pace into their midfield and believe he will be one of the answers.
They have apparently told him a couple of months back that they are
unconcerned about his form and not to knock himself around too much.
FWCE have supposedly spoken to Perth about Conca and his parents are
dead keen to have him over here. Conca was over here a couple of weeks
back for his grandmother's funeral and he spoke at length with Nisbitt
before flying out. I am not sure it would be that big a loss but it
could be good draft bargaining material.

He was definitely homesick last year but had heard early this season that he was back on track.
Has potential so wouldn't want to lose a kid going into his 3rd Pre season.

Heppell is a buffalo girl. In the long run would only be a slight upgrade on houli, at best.
Conca wins more of his own ball and until the last month or so showed much more composure in traffic than the short step specialist.

Certainly didn't sound like a young man who's homesick or looking at going home. Sounded very much like a young man committed to the RFC

Different players entirely. Like replacing Foley with Grigg. If we lose Conca then Gaff will not be a replacement, he will be an addition. We will still need to replace Conca.

How? Heppell and Conca play different roles and I haven't seen anything in Heppell to suggest he will be a better player over his career than Conca.

Gaffs shown more than Conca to date, a lot more imo, and I rate Conca. Doubt wce would be going for something like that... I think something more along the lines of Conca for Koby Stevens and their first round pick. We were into Stevens in a big way pre draft...

theres not a great deal of difference statistically.
gaff finds a bit more of the ball, but a substantially higher percentage of reece's possessions are contested while having a similar disposal efficiency. reece lays a lot more tackles as well

FWIW I think it's rubbish, but:
If it was on, it wouldn't happen in a straight swap of Gaff <-> Conca.
We would need to exchange draft picks also, unless they wanted one of our rubbish fringe players, which I doubt.

I know it's just rumour so there is no point spending too much time on it, but Conca for Gaff would never happen. WCE would be trying to bolster their midfield before Kerr retires so downgrading into someone like Conca kind of defeats the purpose. Trades would be for something they have a surplus of... So i.e someone like Lycett. Their second rounder would be too late and not even worth on trading unless we could package it with a fringe player and trade it on elsewhere to fill a need, and I doubt they'd trade a first round.

If you are going by last year's statistics, they don't paint the full picture. Gaff was a sub in 80% of games (from memory, I saw the stat start of this season for Supercoach). He has been much better then what the stats suggest, and this season has been given more of a chance and looks like he will be a gun.
There is a reason Gaff was taken earlier than Conca in the draft, but that's not to say Conca is a spud. Both will be very good players.

Gaff hasn't missed a game this season for the Weagles, and is averaging 25 touches (16 kicks 9 handballs), 5 marks, 1.5 tackles and kicked 8 goals.
Conca (played 18 games) averaging 19 touches (11 kicks and 8 handballs), 4 marks, 3 tackles and has kicked 5 goals.
Gaff probably needs more defensive work, but shows he knows how to find the pill and uses it really well also (don't have the time to find DE%).
Agreed, not a world of difference, but when comparing 2nd year players the difference is big enough to know we'd be winning in a straight swap out of the 2.

different sorts of players though.
DE is pretty much the same , 75.91 for gaff and 75.02 for conca, but 34% of concas possessions are contested while 22% of gaffs are. conca averages 3.1 tackles a game while gaff averages 1.6.
you could argue that conca wins out in the DE efficiency stakes considering his much greater % of contested possesions, but one thing stats cant show is how creative they can be with the ball

No, and that's why a swap won't be the outcome. As someone else posted earlier, we would more likely be offered a player from a sector that WCE are overstocked in and outside midfielders is not it. Gaff might be just as good or better than Conca but the Eagles want to bolster their midfield stocks, not rearrange them.
