It was so predictable the Roos would lose this week. Playing us is there annual Grand Final ::) and then comes the let down the following week. That's why I tipped the Lions in the footy tipping.
Oh well they can spend their September watching us play finals ;D.

Didn't they resign Brad Scott for 4 years on the back of last years final appearance in which they got flogged.

Yep ;D.

North's record away from Etihad is 11-22.
Those 11 wins of course include beating bottom 4 sides down in Hobart. So it's a pitiful record away from Eithad.

Brad Scott carries on more than fans. I reckon he jumps on BigFooty and bags the umps after every game. Can't handle criticism either, instead sounds like a sook and tries to take shots at the media.

North won't knock back windfall finals berth
By Nick Bowen
1:04pm AEST Wednesday, July 24, 2013
“If we finish ninth and we get a spot in the finals, then we want to make sure we're in good form and ready to attack the best teams in the comp”
BRAD Scott is fully aware finishing ninth might be good enough to play finals this year and says North Melbourne would grab that opportunity with both hands if it eventuates.
However, the Roos coach has not raised that possibility with his players, saying the "strange situation" created by the ASADA-AFL investigation into Essendon's 2012 supplements program was beyond North's control.

What's wrong with that?

Nothing
Not norf fault they are playing in a comp with cheats
-
What's wrong with that?
Nothing I suppose if one's hate for Essendon is greater than one's hate for N0rt
But I just don't think it isn't something you want to be saying publicly with six rounds to go. Should be talking about how it's not your focus, it's got nothing to do with them you're out there to win as many games
Should have let the question go through to the keeper

I hope they finish tenth the stuffing ****s

NORTH Melbourne has self-reported a list lodgement indiscretion to AFL investigations manager Ken Wood that could spring open a League-wide Pandora's box.
The Roos' decision came in the wake of Collingwood's $20,000 fine – half of which was suspended until October 31 this year – last week for Flynn Appleby training at its VFL affiliate leading into the 2017 drafts.
An AFL.com.au investigation exclusively uncovered Appleby, who the Magpies picked with the sixth selection in last year's NAB AFL Rookie Draft, as the unnamed player.
AFL rules state that a player of any age who was invited to a draft combine – national, state or Rookie Me – cannot train with an AFL club or affiliated state-league team leading into the same year's drafts.
Appleby tested at the Rookie Me Combine in October, then trained with Collingwood's VFL squad for three weeks in November leading up to the drafts.
AFL.com.au can reveal that North Melbourne had three ineligible footballers under the same rule – 5.9(b)(ii) in the official AFL rules handbook – training with its new VFL team ahead of last year's drafts.
The Kangaroos confirmed the club's self-reporting to AFL.com.au.
"We notified the AFL regarding the list lodgement and eligibility rules and are currently working with the League to review the information that was volunteered," the statement read.
AFL.com.au understands there are other clubs, on top of the Magpies and North, that broke the same rule before last year's drafts.
"The AFL was contacted by the North Melbourne FC yesterday (Friday) regarding this aspect of the player rules (unlisted players training)," an AFL statement to AFL.com.au read.
"The AFL Integrity Department will be responsible for examining the information provided and determining if any action is required under the Player Rules.
"As this matter is currently being reviewed, the AFL will not comment any further."
There is genuine confusion about the rule among some AFL and TAC Cup clubs.
Multiple sources AFL.com.au spoke to in the past week believed the rule applied only to 18-year-olds or players eligible for the draft for the first time.
An AFL spokesman told AFL.com.au on Thursday that "the player's age is not relevant".

Pfft ...they'd do anything just to get mentioned in the media and remind everyone they still exist...
-
Had to laugh when the only thing Brad Scott could think of to try and get both North fans interested in 2018 was 35 year old Jarrad Waite's "best footy is ahead of him" :lol.

We’ll be shattered if we don’t play finals: Macmillan
Roo expectations: NORTH Melbourne’s Jamie Macmillan says Brad Scott’s contract extension has given senior players confidence in the club’s direction and he expects the Kangaroos to get back in the finals mix this year.

Nah, it is obvious that he is talking about their new stand alone VFL side. They haven't made the finals since 1998.
-
46 - 92 and it's not even 3/4 time.
Welcome to 2018, North :lol.
-
flogging coming up in JLT 2 haha
-
Less than 2000 there.
I guess when you fail at reeling in big fish despite paying significant overs, sack all of your senior players in one fowl swoop, hire Brad "whingeing" Scott for 3 more years and start touting 35 year old Jarrrod Waites season as the best form of his life you might generate less hype than you'd want...
-
Less than 2000 there.
I see that Adam Cooney has come out and slammed the footy public in Tassie for not being dinkum because they didn't support this game.
I mean, seriously, this fixture was an absolute insult to Tassie fans.
Footy is clearly struggling down there. Why not give them a game like Richmond vs Hawthorn as a boost.
-
Seriously think we have mind stuffed the whole football world---Ohh I've been waiting for this day for so long
-
I have this little feeling that tonight's game could be the beginning of the end for North.
A completely standalone fixture on a public holiday Friday for most clubs would be a massive bonus.
But if North don't pull a crowd tonight, you just wonder what that says about where they are heading.
-
A nothing but nuisance value, money pit of a club.....just fold already....
-
2.10 apiece the Saints and Roos at half time!
I don't know if the roof is open, but sounds like a shocking game.

All said no, despite telephone number financial incentives. Just as big-name players like Dustin Martin, Josh Kelly, Jordan De Goey and others had done. Tom Lynch wouldn't even take a phone call.

Nothing to get excited about in the players coming in.

Can't wait to dance on that useless nuisance value of club's grave...and a very merry jig it will be indeed... #NeverforgetBobAnsett :dancing :shh
(In reality my reaction to their demise will probably just be "eh, whatever" as that'd be more in keeping with their level of relevance :shh :shh)

Hope they don't get it.
PP's are not linked to club success. Like throwing your savings at a mate with a gambling habit. Doesn't help!
-
No way do Norf deserve one. They mismanaged their list thinking they were contenders for 2019 when they were nowhere near it. Topped up with the likes of Polec & Pittard for a first round pick (Port must have thought it was Christmas). Norf are in their current mess via their own incompetence not bad luck.
-
The AFL have set a horrible precedent for rewarding incompetence in the past.
It’s farcical and there needs to be set criteria’s for what would result in a priority pick. Whether that is xx wins over a 2 year period etc. I’m not sure , but they can’t just make it up as they go along

The AFL is fearing an all-time low Marvel Stadium crowd will turn up for North Melbourne's clash against GWS on Sunday.
“There is a real fear, this home game against GWS on Sunday afternoon could be less than 10,000 (people),” Edmund said on SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
“That is a worry, Sunday, 3.20PM at Marvel Stadium against the Giants.
“They had 5,000 against Port in Hobart, 13,000 in that home game against Melbourne at Marvel, 14,000 for West Coast at Marvel as well and that was way back in round 2 before they really went down that slippery slope.”

North Melbourne offer Alastair Clarkson a minimum five-year contract.
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/north-melbourne-offer-clarkson-a-minimum-five-year-contact-20220812-p5b9g2.html
-
North Melbourne and Essendon expect to know where Alastair Clarkson will be coaching by the end of this weekend.
The four-time premiership coach is yet to make up his mind between the Kangaroos, who have offered him a five-year contract after a month of discussions, and the Bombers, who launched into consideration this week following a change of their presidency.
His manager James Henderson said on Wednesday evening Clarkson was “moving quickly to a decision” and Kangaroos president Sonja Hood has confirmed that’s the case.
“There was no ultimatum, we just wanted some clarity on where things were at so we knew that if we needed to move onto plan B, we could move onto plan B.”
Asked to expand upon who that plan B coach might be, she said: “I’ll tell you what, if we need a plan B, come back and ask me then and I’ll give you all the details.”
Nine reported likely backup targets for the Kangaroos include Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, former GWS boss Leon Cameron, and Melbourne assistant and Power premiership coach Mark Williams.
Naturally once the Kangaroos know Clarkson’s decision, the Bombers will know as well, meaning his future will be public by Sunday night.

SEN saying Norf not only want a priority pick but also extra rookie spots.
-
North Melbourne will be granted two additional draft picks as part of their special assistance compensation from the AFL.
The Age is reporting that the Roos will receive a 2023 second round pick and a 2023 third rounder from the AFL – though these picks both must be traded. The picks seemingly must also be traded for players.
If the picks are not traded this year, they will cease to exist.
The Kangaroos will also receive an additional two slots on their rookie list, to allow them more resources to target young and mature talent.

Yep, they are tied to where Norf finishes next year.
"will be tied to North's finishing position next year for whoever ends up with them, creating a marketplace for rival clubs to take them from the Roos."

North Melbourne is confident Alastair Clarkson will one day return to coaching, having informed the club on Wednesday afternoon that he would be taking indefinite leave from his role effective immediately.
In a statement released on Thursday, North Melbourne said that Clarkson – who was due to coach his 400th game this weekend when his side plays Sydney – would be provided "whatever time he needs to restore his health". The club said "everyone involved has been deeply affected by the Hawthorn investigation and the burden on Alastair has been significant".

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick hopes Alastair Clarkson isn’t lost to the game
Ed Bourke
News.com.au
May 19, 2023 - 11:16AM
Football will be “worse off” if Alastair Clarkson does not return to the game according to Richmond coach and long-time friend Damien Hardwick
Hardwick said Clarkson, who was his mentor during his five years as an assistant coach at Hawthorn, was struggling with the “cloud hanging over him” and called for his privacy to be respected while he was away from football.
He said he thought the North Melbourne coach would return to the AFL in the future.
“It’s always sad when you see someone that you love walk away from the game,” Hardwick said.
“I don‘t think he’ll be lost to the game, the game will be worse off if he’s out of it.
“What I do hope is that, you know, this is the only thing I’ll say on it, everyone just gives him the privacy and the time that he needs.”
Hardwick said few people would be able to cope under the strain of coaching an AFL team while dealing with the serious allegations under investigation by the independent panel.
“The game is hard enough as it is, especially with this cloud hanging over him at the moment,” he said.
“And he unfortunately has been the face of it. I challenge any person to handle the workload and then the nature of that report and what is hanging over his head for eight months.
“It’s a challenging time, so let’s just step back, give him the time that he needs, and I and probably every other footy person in the industry want him back ASAP.”

It does feel like, given the seriousness of the allegations (including instructing a footballer and his wife to terminate a pregnancy), that something should have been substantiated by now.
If individuals at a club are doing that they're likely doing a whole bunch of other smaller things, and yet seemingly nada when it comes to corroborating evidence?
It's all very strange this. I know one thing for sure though: Jeff Kennett's a tosser.
