ripper day down there last year, ended up a draw IIRC

Is this the team that smashes us by 100 pts every year?

So what's the point of having a Richmond branded seconds team (which was funded by our donations) if we are (a) getting hammered every week and (b) not properly developing players for the seniors?

(a) we don't get flogged every week
(b) where did this conclusion come from
(A) last year we won 6 games for the year. We also lost by 8+ goals on six occasions. Conclusion :- we lose twice as many as we win, and we have as much chance that our losses will be thrashing as them being competitive losses.
(B) we'd be lucky to develop and bring in 2 players a year that are any good
But yeah, great concept for us
-
Are you suggesting we realign with Coburg?
-
I'm suggesting that people open their eyes and think for themselves as to what degree the benefits stated by the club have been delivered from our seconds side when compared to our former alignment with coburg, considering the money that has been spent by members towards it.
Accountability and transparency.
Where are the improvements.

Didn't the club say that it would take a few years before we would see an obvious improvement in having our own team?
So are we going to make judgements after 1 year and 1 game?
:huh

Elton Menadue Short and Ellis for me. Why Elton hasn't gotten a run in the seniors after his preseason performance is a question that should be answered.
-
yep lost all interest in footy this weekend :banghead :thumbsdown

Elton Menadue Short and Ellis for me. Why Elton hasn't gotten a run in the seniors after his preseason performance is a question that should be answered.
Why is it that Dea is always omitted in player discussions.
Is he the forgotten man at Richmond.
The club seems to love him gave this bloke the number 7 without a blink of an eye.
Maybe Dea is our Obi-Wan Kenobi
Save us Dea! Your our only hope....
OOPS! FJ did it again....
-
A beautiful, long goal McBean after some excellent body work. That's the first for the day.

Great win over Frankston, Good to see Foley has still got something to offer the Reserves. Vickery will be back in next week with Griffiths going down.
:gotigers
-
Good to see Bojangles back and posting. Thought Bj had gone to see a psychologist after last nights dismal performance.
-
Vickery played a great all round game. Contested marks, great tap work when in the ruck, encouraged younger players around him including instructions, worked his butt off all day and played with purpose. Will come in next week and I hope he plays at the same level.
-
What can I say about Ellis....a left footed Jobe Watson I say. The kid is a ripper, pure class in everything he does. Didn't see him miss a target in wet conditions and his ability to win clearances is first class. Also, looks like he loves getting dirty!
-
Ohh god help me junk time vickery!
-
And um frankston will be the aints of the vfl this year, can't contain my excitement
-
Go along for a look cub?
-
No mr machine, working followed online he was never mentioned until late into the 3rd when the game was over against a rabble. FMD we are screwed
-
That's unfortunate as even though Frankston are ordinary, you missed some pretty good football from our guys.
-
Didn't see it Friday night :banghead

With all the FJ masterstrokes running around for us the lazy 9 goal victory was obviously the norm not the exception. ;D

Timmy deserves a 3 year contract extension with this win against the Dolphins.

Watched this game in the rain yesterday with the colourful locals. A few words on the players:
Dea - Instructed team mates all day in positioning and played a solid game. Very strong and always goes when its his turn to go. Reading the play in the back half was very good.
Hampson - The tap out king. Looked better around the ground taking a few marks and hitting up kicks. If only you could blend him and Maric together. Has great hands and delivers the ball to the mids but lacks aggression and doesn't provide any physicality out on the ground. Good game.
Vickery - His work rate was fantastic yesterday. Ran hard all day providing options and worked well with the other forwards. When playing ruck, he looked right at home. Tap work was very good but has agility at ground level which stands out against Maric and Hampson. If the coaching staff have the courage, i would play him as our first ruck for a period of time as I believe this is his best position. Very good.
Ellis - So impressed with every part of his game. Clean and wins hard balls whilst getting his hands dirty. Has time and space when in possession and makes the right decisions every time. I saw something special yesterday :clapping
McBean - Worked hard to get to the contests around the ground so his work rate was better. Played a little in the ruck and did some nice things. The pleasing thing for me was he was willing to get physical with the opposition when some of the younger boys got pushed around. I like the big boys throwing their weight around even McBeans weight! Not bad.
Lennon - I liked what he provided yesterday. Worked hard as a high HF and got involved physically which is not his strength. He should be played every week in the ones IMO as he is a pure footballer with skills better than most. Good game.
Menadue - Firstly he has added some size but is still slight. Great runner and ran all day along the wings. It looks like he is gaining confidence every week that he can play amongst bigger bodies week in week out. Gets into great positions around the ground and hits leading players on the tit all day long. Not afraid to work in close now which is great to see. He just looks like an AFL quality player. I would love to see him late in the season if he continues to gain confidence and starts to rack up possessions. Good game.
Foley - Comes in next week for sure. Great game and provided great leadership all day. BOG
McKenzie - He is a work in progress but boy can he take strong contested marks :thumbsup Worked hard yesterday in wet conditions but marked almost everything that came his way. I loved a few contested marks on the wing when the backs kicked it long down the line. The future!
Elton - He played a great defensive game in the first half, cant recall his opponent getting a kick. Moved forward due to a small Frankston forward line in the second half. Presented well and competed well but didn't get a lot of ball. Looks better in the back line and after some solid form, I believe he should come in next week against a tall Geelong forward structure. Solid
Short - Quick!!! if the opponent has the ball and he is within 10 metres watch out! Tackle machine :clapping Moves well around the ground and gets involved and uses his kicking ability to great affect. His kicks make that perfect pure sound very time...weapon :thumbsup Small forward and very handy indeed. Good game
Castagna - Provides great dash and again like Dea, is hard as a cats head :clapping Gets involved and runs hard out of the back line. Needs to spend a lot of time on his decision making and kicking but gives his all for the whole game. Promising
Thomas, Soldo, Butler didn't play.
Frankston will struggle this year so most of the game was played on our terms, which means most of the players had good games. In saying that, you see what you see and the above are my thoughts.
Foley, Vickery, Lennon, Ellis, Elton & maybe even Hampson should be considered this week.

Great report! :clapping

Foley, Ellis star in VFL Tigers’ first win
By Catherine Durkin
April 26, 2015
AFL-listed midfielders Nathan Foley and Corey Ellis have led Richmond’s VFL team to an impressive 53-point win over the Frankston Dolphins on Anzac Day.
Ellis and Foley put their names forward for senior selection, along with key forward Ty Vickery, who booted four goals in the win.
Foley finished with a game-high 30 disposals and 16 clearances, including 12 touches and six clearances to quarter time.
Ellis was equally dominant around the contest. He finished on 24 disposals, 11 clearances and managed to push forward and kick a goal.
“Nathan Foley has now played his second or third game back. He’s an AFL quality player and our AFL team needs his ability to win the ball and get to contests,” VFL coach Tim Clarke said post-game.
“We need Nathan back in the team and, at the moment, hopefully he can get back in.
“Young Corey Ellis is really putting his hand up for selection now, he’s just been getting better every single week.”
Clarke was pleased with the way the team managed to bounce back after last week’s disappointing 15-point loss to Coburg.
“The boys were put under enormous pressure from Coburg and the boys didn’t handle it very well,” he said.
“We spoke about it during the week and we knew that Frankston were going to try and do the same thing. But our boys were much better in handling that situation.
“It was led well by the pressure our mids put on around the ball, to not only win it but also to put pressure on Frankston’s midfielders.
“Our forwards chased as well as I have seen them chase, and our backs protected as well as they have been able to so far this year.
“It was a real team effort, but it was led by the guys in the middle who just really won the contested ball all day.”
Others to impress included Shaun Hampson, who finished on an outstanding 69 hitouts, and Jaryd Cachia, who won 26 disposals and provided great run through the midfield.
Richmond will look to replicate their efforts next Saturday, when it faces Geelong at the ME Bank Centre in Round 3.

How frustrating, he can look good some times, doesn't like to jump at ruck contests, all his goals were from 10 metres out.

VFL Round 2 wrap:
VIDEO: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/2015-04-28/vfl-wrap-round-2
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tim Clarke's round 2 summary of how the AFL-listed players performed at VFL level:
Nathan Foley
30 disposals, 16 clearances, 9 tackles
Was outstanding. Won the Anzac Medal and was our Cayden player of the day. Picked up more than 30 disposals, had nine tackles, and was very dominant inside at all stoppages.
Corey Ellis
24 disposals, 11 clearances, 7 tackles
Played his best game for the Club. Another of our players who was prominent in winning contested possessions, finishing with 16. Set us up offensively and made good decisions going inside 50. He’s really starting to show why he was a first round draft pick.
Jason Castagna
20 disposals, 6 clearances
Continues to improve on his game running off half-back. Very composed with the footy and made good decisions. Also drifted forward and had two shots for goal, which is something in his game that he’s been working on.
Connor Menadue
16 disposals
Worked tirelessly on the wing right throughout the match. Was better in the contest, and continues to improve with his inside-50 entries. Also is getting more rebounds.
Ben Lennon
2 goals, 15 disposals
Played a solid game across half-forward. Could have ended up with four or five goals, but missed two or three that he should have kicked. Helped set up several more goals for teammates. Is another player pushing hard for senior selection.
Matt Dea
14 disposals
Made the defence much more stable. Cut off many of Frankston’s transitions and helped set up offensive play for the team off half-back. Our defence is always much stronger when he is playing.
Shaun Hampson
69 hit-outs, 1 goal, 13 disposals
Most dominant big man on the ground with almost 70 hit-outs. Also went forward, took a couple of marks, and kicked a goal, which was pleasing, as that’s something he’s been working on over the past few weeks. Providing the likes of Foley, Ellis, and Cachia with first use, through his dominant ruckwork, was a real feature of his game.
Ty Vickery
4 goals, 13 disposals
Battled hard throughout with a pretty good match-up on James Wilsen, one of Frankston’s main backs. Had plenty of shots for goal, and out of the 15 contests he was involved in, he didn’t lose one. Showed the quality of player he is, and will be pushing hard for senior selection.
Liam McBean
3 goals, 11 disposals
Probably the best game he’s played so far this year. This was mainly due to his defensive pressure. He had four or five tackles and many chase-downs. It was really pleasing to see him play this kind of game. Still managed to hit the scoreboard three or four times as well, which is something we expect from him. He continues to show encouraging signs of improvement.
Reece McKenzie
10 disposals
Drifted in and out of the game a little bit, but showed what a quality player he will be in the future. Took three or four really strong, contested marks. Needs to put himself in positions to get used more, so he can start to dominate VFL matches.
Jayden Short
10 disposals, 5 tackles
Was a bit quiet in the first half offensively, but his defensive work was fantastic. He applied some strong tackles and put Frankston players under huge pressure. Got going offensively in the second half and helped set up a couple of goals.
Todd Elton
4 disposals
Had a mixed game. He played back in the first half and did a very good job on one of Frankston’s key forwards. Was then moved forward to see how he’d go in a different role. He continues to develop as a key defender and is ready to go if a position opens up at senior level.
