McBean, Menadue question is whether they are actually gonna be named or just bloody placed in the squad....that's the real question....
be typical of our match committee if they end up just naming Vickery, Elton and Dea....

Out of interest, only 4 Pies have been in a team that has lost to us (Round 19, 2007) :P.

Yep 100%

These selections smell of someone trying to save their own bacon, really nothing drastic with only two unforced changes after Hardwick openly said that he would look in the VFL for players to replace those not being capable enough. What a joke, this guy is dead set delusional if he thinks things will just turnaround and really says alot for our current predicament.
An analogy is a political party not wanting to make tough decisions in their third year in office due to an impending election, self centred interests does no one any good in the long term., the quicker he is out of there the better, its so frustrating as we are simply wasting valuable development opportunities for our younger players.
Will be a smashing this week, the only enjoyment i get out of the situation is listening to Hardwick's spin each week, must surely be running out of cliches.
-
I reckon when we stop naming Edwards at chf and Vlastuin at chb we will win. Bloody smartarses...

Yep 100%
Dea and Elton both deserve games
-
Dea in for Newman
Elton for Astbury
McBean for Griffiths ( won't play )
Vickery for Gordon
Menadue if Lids doesn't play
-
Dea in for Newman
Elton for Astbury
McBean for Griffiths ( won't play )
Vickery for Gordon
Menadue if Lids doesn't play
Don't mind that although Menadue in for Gordon if McBean plays.
Ellis in for Lids if he he doesn't play
-
Vickery to be used as back
Up ruckman for Ivan
-
I recon if Witts doesn't play, Vickery doesn't play.
Ivan v Grundy.
They have a lot of quick young guys, we need to try and match them..
-
Thats it, if Menadue and McBean dont play i am done
-
Hope Elton, Dea, Menadue & McBean actually get a game! I can hope ... :pray
I want McBean in at least. Its time ... do it!
-
Can't help but know the trickery of potential ins after Hardwicks faux sook after last week's result.
Lip service. Time wi'll prove me right
-
I recon if we can lock down on Swan and Pendlebury we could be a chance..
Grigg to Pendlebury and Hunt to Swan.
Then maybe Dea to Elliot and Morris to Blair.
Elton to Cloke
Isolate Jack deep, on Brown or Frost and let him win us the game.
-
I recon if we can lock down on Swan and Pendlebury we could be a chance..
Grigg to Pendlebury and Hunt to Swan.
Uh oh. :help
-
Ring the changes he says. Find who can play the Richmond way he says...
Drops the sub again. Brings in Vickery again.
What a circus. Have no idea down there. If what Jack says happens, its not too bad but still soft. It clearly shows we have no depth but with all these bloody moneyball selections surely we are stacked with a variety of B Grade rubbish to bring in instead of the same lot each 2nd week lol..
-
He's a stuffing moron. The same older guys keep on losing. So what does he do to change things up? Plays a similar combination of them.
Square peg, round hole. Repeat x 22
-
McBean, Menadue question is whether they are actually gonna be named or just bloody placed in the squad....that's the real question....

To be honest I'm not fussed what mix of those players get a gig as long as it isn't Vickery.
-
He's been developing McBean for 4 years.
This guy must be GONNA win 3 brownlows..
I'm really excited :snidegrin
-
The selection committee and PR division Mist think the fans must have an iq of 75.
It embarrassing
-
McBean, Menadue, Ellis C, Elton and Dea must play. Play cautious with Lids. Would drop Batchelor. Would not put Hunt on Swan. Swan will kill him especially if Swan plays as a forward. If Swan plays as a forward would rather Dea have a crack at him.
-
But what if they play all the kids this week McBean, C Ellis, Menadue and Elton which is what a lot of people have demanding and we lose what then?
What will the response be? Will people look for the positives in the kids being played or will that get lost in constant whacking of the Club, coach and recruiting.
Are people just going to bag said kids if they don't all get BOG honours?
I am as peeved as anybody with what's gone on so far this year, it is nothing short of gut wrenching and disgraceful
However, play those kids and at least it's an improvement over seeing the favourites jogging around the park collecting their weekly wage.
Will all of them play, probably not but if they do, I'll take that because it's a start :thumbsup

WP I would rather get games into these kids and get beaten than play the same older players and get beaten :thumbsup
-
what about dont pick chaplin and grigg for a change
-
Grigg has done better this year than Batch, Newman, Astbury, MORRIS and the like.
We should be playing Menadue, Ellis, Arnot (elevate him) and anyone else willing to have a crack. Not the pathetic imbeciles we have been playing.
-
Agree with WP Even if it means we lose would prefer playing the kids. Bring in fresh faces. Give them a proper chance.
-
Will be nice to see some new faces, even 1 or 2 is a start.
Cant see why there are complaints here even if only a couple of the named ones get games.
-

The Blues "line in the sand" at this week's selection meeting is what ours should be, unfortunately our delusional club think we have a brilliant list so regardless of how poorly the team plays we generally make no more than a couple of unforced changes. I wonder if stats are kept which shows the number of unforced changes following losses of say 40+ points, would guess it's a stat we would be at the low end in comparison to clubs at a similar stage of development.
I suppose the other important stat is whether those unforced changes are same for same or for younger developing players and if younger players are selected then how long they remain in the side. 1-2 weeks seems to be the maximum time before some fictional version of a "favourites" performance at VFL level gets them back into the side at the expense of the younger player.
-
Play the kids ahead of the tried, tested and failed, whats the worst that could happen? they fail too. Nothing to lose, no brainer for mine
-
Sure some don't get a good run at it for various reasons (not all I agree with) and some have not been given a go at all.
Sure there are some that are getting games that should be overlooked for younger ones.
But here is a couple of numbers that might surprise you.
Before this round we have played 14 players with less than 50 games and half of them have played less than 10 games. That could jump to 18 players that have played less than 50 games and 11 that have played less than ten. When you look at this then its hard to say we are not trying players out. Just doesn't seem that way at times.
-
Bring in the beanstalk. Jack and the bean stalk would work well. I don't believe in making overly drastic wholesale changes as I'm of the belief there needs to be a level of player cohesion (which isn't exactly high at the moment anyway) for game plans to be carried out.
I would definitely go with McBean and Dea. Menadue is meant to be really quick right so use him as the super sub? Don't want to run the risk of going to tall so maybe it will be a toss up between Morris and Ellis. I say toss up because Ellis is coming back from injury and they shouldn't break the kid.
-
Is there a reason Lennon isn't getting a game??
-
Is there a reason Lennon isn't getting a game??
Yes because Newman is.
-
FM he was our No 1 pick last year wasn't he?, he shd be getting played, what a crock of poo

Played one game and was dropped.

Think vickery will be named purely for ruck purposes. Unless they plan on letting mcbean get monstered?
think it will be
Elton for Newman
Vickery for Astbury
Ellis for Gordon.
-

...and still have a chance of improving unlike the same old hacks who've reached their ceiling, cracked their heads on it and are well on the way back down...hell Newman and Morris have already crashed through the stuffing floor....
-

And outside of Vickery (though I understand the logic) I'd take those changes, couple of kids and let's see how they go

Well if the Ruck work is shared between Griffith and Maric we don't need to see McBean snapped in two. Really think we should play him because our game plan is ridiculously predictable. At least with McBean it may throw a curve ball at Buckley's back 6
-
Griff out McBean in.
Ellis and Elton also in.
actually excited to see these fellas play !
Vickery is in too though :(

Happy with those
Agree it's exciting to see some kids getting a chance
Would hope everyone is pleased with that :clapping
-
Yesss! Jack & the Beanstalk in the forward half!
Good to see Elton & C.Ellis in too. :gotigers
-
With Griff out and the need to play 3 talls, I can cope with Vickery in for this week. Unfortuantely lack of options would have forced that move, even more tragic is probably the fact it wasn't forced and Hardwick was "forced" to play McBean
-
not so sure about that. after hardwick talked up Vickery's performance against geelong he ws dropped, which made me think there were others on the slection comittie starting to read different pages to him
-
Wasn't Corey Ellis out for 2-3 weeks with a bruised knee????? :huh
-

You are a wise man Al but I hear there was more to that dropping than meets the eye :shh
-
Do tell young grasshopper. :allears
-
About bloody time, put them in and leave them in FFS (hope I don't get banned for the acronym, it means "flipping fantastic selections")..
-
yeah, yeahright. put out or get out
-
Play the kids and let them have a run around on the big stage. Elton has deserved his chance and Id like to see if Menadue and co. can show something for us tomorrow. They have to be played at some stage anyway so put them in.
-
Late change today
-
Would have been great to see Menadue play
-
Worried about Elton being out of his depth/costing us goals
-
Like Morris???
-
Would have been great to see Menadue play
He is playing
-

So who went out then for him?
-
Small player
Leave it at that
-
Worried about Elton being out of his depth/costing us goals
As opposed to Astbury or Chaplain?
-

True. What do we have to lose, really?
-
Yep Edwards to be late out for menadue.
-
That's no good, whats wrong with Shane?
-
Ch 7 said there may be a late change.
Concerns about whether Shane Edwards will play. Menadue has gone across to the 'G with the seniors so they reckon there will be at least one change.
Question marks of course on whether will Lids play today as well.
-
Edwards officially out. Would love to know why. Menadue debut as a sub.. Don't like that. Maybe Deledio to only play a half ?
-

Edwards is a big loss. I hope its only this game he's out
-
In the context of this game and the way we have been playing, Edwards is s huge loss.
-
He is probably our best and most important player at the moment.
Massive out.
If it's his calf again I'll start to worry.
Calf is old man's injury and if he has it already then we'll be seeing him outwith the late change a few more times.
-
Titch is a massive loss. We lack leg speed and creativity in the side as it is :help.
-
Rance in middle and Elton on Cloke.
Hardwick is done.
We have 1 thing.... 1 thing that works and that is an all Australian full back.
What a joke. Cloke will kick 10
-
Tigers too good
Close kicked 3
Edwards back next week
-
And griff :shh
-
Should put a bit of life into cocktail night :cheers
