Rance must be polling votes, would have to be leading.

Fyfe who...when you look at consistency its Rance.

Fyfe will be 10 in front.

It's over.

Also, backmen don't poll like they should

Don't think Fyfe is that far ahead, if ahead at all. Rance has played up the grpund a lot more, look at last night, he was up on the wing at stages. He has been high profile and very noticable. Don't write off the backman just yet.. :shh

Fyfe has it in he bag unless he gets suspended

First 10 rounds he would have polled in at least 8 most likely 9 games

NAT FYFE'S Brownlow Medal chances could again rest with the Match Review Panel after a clumsy spoiling attempt in Sunday's clash against Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium.

Running back with the flight in the opening term, Fyfe took his eyes off the ball and pushed his elbow into the face of Hawk Taylor Duryea. Duryea was rattled but not injured and got up to take his kick.

Donny Osmond?

Would be an hilariously embarrassing Brownlow night for the AFL with an ineligible Fyfe on nearly 30 votes at halfway mark and probably with a record number of votes by the end....and then to top it off Rance wins and refuses to drink the bubbly on stage....might actually be worth watching...

The Case for Rance

Been our best player this year

Richmond will win enough games and we will get a lot of 2's and 3's

Running style of game will be noticed by Umpires

I can see him getting 20+ votes the way he is going.

Jon Ralph is backing that Fyfe will get himself suspended and is looking at who would win the Brownlow if Fyfe is rubbed out.

Trent Cotchin (Ric)

Traditionally a strong Brownlow poller, Cotchin is playing his best footy since he tied for second in the 2012 count. Big numbers against Brisbane and Collingwood should guarantee maximum votes and he has lifted the Tigers to at least two of their recent victories. Kicking more goals helps, too.

Who wins the Brownlow without Fyfe?
Scott Pendlebury
Dan Hannebery
Dayne Beams
Dane Swan
Todd Goldstein
Patrick Dangerfield
Trent Cotchin
Matt Priddis

Your club's Brownlow hopes

Jennifer Phelan
afl.com.au
September 23, 2015

RICHMOND

Best chance: Trent Cotchin

The Tigers' captain has proven he can poll, with 83 career Brownlow votes, including 18 last season and 26 in 2012, which saw him finish equal second. He led the team to the finals for the third straight year and improved on his inside game, with an average of more than 12 contested possessions across his 22 games. He had some big performances, with the wins over the Brisbane Lions, Collingwood and North Melbourne standing out.

Fast starter: Jack Riewoldt/Anthony Miles
Cotchin and Dustin Martin will bob up early but Riewoldt and Miles could also figure. The Tigers only won two games from the first six rounds but Riewoldt kicked 16 goals and Miles won 36 clearances in that time.

One-vote wonder: Ivan Maric
With the Tigers' ball winners to collect most of the votes, including the ineligible Brett Deledio, Maric could pick up a single in round 18 for his dominating performance against Hawthorn.

Total votes
Deledio, Cotchin, Martin and Riewoldt will fly the flag for the Tigers with our predictor estimating a decent total of 88 votes across the board after their 15-win season. - Jennifer Phelan

Leading Crownbet chance:
Dustin Martin, $51

Brownlow Medal 2015: Who will top your club’s voting?

Vicky Roach
Herald-Sun
September 27, 2015

RICHMOND

Trent Cotchin is a proven vote-winner, but even that is unlikely to translate into Richmond’s first Brownlow Medal of his lifetime. The Tigers haven’t won a Medal since Ian Stewart won back in 1971.

The skipper has polled 63 votes in the past three seasons. The Tigers have three players in the mix to win their club voting — Cotchin, Dustin Martin and Brett Deledio.

Herald Sun votes: Trent Cotchin 14, Brett Deledio 12, Dustin Martin 11, Alex Rance 11, Brandon Ellis 10, Jack Riewoldt 6, Kamdyn McIntosh 5, Bachar Houli 5.

Champion Data votes: Cotchin 20, Martin 19, Deledio 10, Ellis 8, Anthony Miles 7, Riewoldt 5, Shaun Grigg 5.

Coaches’ Association votes: Cotchin 16, Martin 14, Deledio 13, Shane Edwards 12, Rance 11, Riewoldt 6, Ellis 5, Houli 4, Miles 4.

TAB club odds: $2.50 Cotchin, Martin, $3 Deledio, $15 Ellis, $34 Rance.

Past winners: Stan Judkins (1930), Bill Morris (1948), Roy Wright (1952, 54), Ian Stewart (1971)

After picking up Dusty at 3, I reckon we wanted a tall at 19 so went with Griffiths. Our recruiter stocks would've been still poor and well underfunded back then and I doubt we had a WA scout to even spot Fyfe. Supporters bagged FJ more for not taking Jake Carlisle. Fyfe went at 20  :-\, so every club overlooked him and regretted it if you look at what virtually every club picked up in the top 20 in 2009. Plenty of flops.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_AFL_draft

Just to add, if we had won just 4 games that year instead of the 5 1/2 that we did by winning meaningless games late in the year, we would've had a priority pick at 20. I, of course, had that infamous 'discussion' with Craig Cameron at the post-season fan forum about it if you remember  ;).

Very much aware that we picked Griff at 19. Actually looked it up

But the point is most clubs didn't rate him enough to take him earlier than 20 = Tigers weren't alone. So let's not let anything get in the way of nice cheap whack at the club.

Freo didn't take him with their first pick at 4 - took Morabito instead.

And BTW there are some blokes taken in that draft by other clubs that look more foolsih than us...

Butcher to Port (8)
Tom Scully to Melb (1)
Andrew Moore to Port (9)
Gysberts to Melb (11) - no longer on an AFL list
Howard to Bulldogs (15) - no longer on an AFL list
Kane Lucas to Carlton (12) now at WCE

Fyfe spoke with aplomb, passion and belief in his club. He showed an understanding of its structure.

When Cotchin talks about the RFC, it seems rehearsed and fake, as though he knows want he should be saying.

Big difference.

No finals success for RIchmond.

I guess, but I worked with a Yank who had heavy experience on the college system over there and he was totally flabbergasted how much crap recruiters get over here with regards to drafting 17 and 18 year olds. He was impressed at how often they're on the money. The US system accross all sports get it wrong come draft time way more than we do over here and the money for recruiters pales in comparison to how it functions over there.

Not a lot of finals success for Freo , out in straight sets last year. Very lucky to beat a depleted Sydney this year. Bookends are gone and the human tree must be retiring soon too.

But Fyfe did speak very well - cant help but like him
Title: Re: Brownlow - 2015

Fyfe has admitted that, as a passionate Richmond supporter growing up, Fremantle was by far his least favourite team.

And when it came to the 2009 draft camp, he tried to slip under the Dockers’ radar. “I was actually a passionate Richmond supporter when I was younger and my least favourite team was the Dockers — I absolutely hated them,” he said earlier this year.

“This was to the extent that at the AFL draft camp, two weeks before the AFL draft, I was trying desperately to get in front of the Richmond recruiters, but they weren’t interested in me at all.

“Then I heard Freo was interested so I was trying to do everything possible so they wouldn’t pick me up.”

“Then I heard Freo was interested so I was trying to do everything possible so they wouldn’t pick me up.”

lol as did 18 other blokes.

if we take a skinny flanker who has not shown anything outstanding at junior level with out first pick will jackson be lauded for taking a punt to get the next fyfe, or bagged for taking another skinny flanker?

Surely fyfe must have shown something to go top 20

They get payed the big bucks to work out which ones the next Jon and fyfe
yet not one single club's recruiting staff knew how good fyfe was going to be.

Go figure?

If only hed worn a tiger scarf, we'd have had to take under the Paddy Steinfort clause.

Hindsight has 20/20 vision.
Fyfe was much smaller back then.  Freo took him with their second choice, not first. Melbourne and Port ignored him 3 times each. 11 other clubs ignored him before his pick.
