-
Morris ??? Rofl. Where's Lennon ?
Lennon had / has glandular fever & missed a fair chunk of pre season, wernt you listening :)
-
Griff named twice?
-
Morris has been smashing his starjump pb's all summer. First picked.
-
Good to see C.Ellis in the middle!
-
No Grimes
-
No Grimes
Back pocket?

X2 can't ffffff believe Lloyd and Morris completely bemusing.

Lennon very stiff!
Played all three NAB matches ... did Lloyd play in the NAB?

Lloyd didn't have glandular fever
-
Is this club stuffing with my head??
Wtf is that ^^^?
-
Lennon not even an emergency. Injured?
If glandular is an issues he would not have played all nab games.
-
Not even emergency makes me think injury maybe??
So glad to see T.Chaplin being forced out.
-
Supercoach 7 of 9 clearly not serious.

he was playing NAB to catch up fitness wise
-
I'm pretty sure that's the wrong team.
The one I've seen has Grimes in it and also doesn't name Griffiths twice.
Unfortunately both Lloyd and Morris are in - it's like some bizarre love triangle with dimma

Chaplin has paid the price for his Nahas brain implosion.
Astbury - here is your chance .
-
It looks as though Astbury has moved ahead of Chaplin in the pecking order. Good to see. Batch is unlucky if fit, he had earned his spot.
There are too many workhorses that can't kick in the side namely Lambert, Morris and Townsend but there isn't that much to choose from.
Lennon, I just don't get it.
-
Will be at the President's function and I'll try to sniff out why Lennon isn't in the team. :huh

GLANDULAR BLOODY FEVER, he has missed a large chunk of pre season remember

Yep, should not be an issue, has been in full training for long enough to be up to speed. If not injured, kick in the guts for him

I know about the glandular fever but he has been fully training for 2 months now. He played all 3 NAB cup games. I want to know if there is anything else going on.

Yes but pre season goes for 5 months & he would have played NAB to try to catch up

]IIRC he was diagnosed in December (did not go to Palm Cove on December ?11) with Glandular fever, so he had already done 2 months of the preseason. So he missed only a month or so of the 5.

Anyone that's had glandular fever will tell you it takes a full year to properly recover and 3 months before the symptoms are passed. Could be another month or so before he's in the team.

meet you halfway then :)

That is true for severe cases. If you have spleen involvement it usually means your out for a while. There are milder forms which I believe is what Ben had. Having said that there is the possibility of a relapse too.
That is why I want to find out what's going on!
-
Glandular can be as subtle as a cold. I had it and was fine after 2 weeks. Ben isn't in the same due to form, doubt it's to do with the glandular. As someone else said, too many work horses that can't kick. It's like we're trying to lose
It's actually a very inexperienced team.
Rioli, menadue, c Ellis, lloyd, astbury, mcintosh, lambert, townsend.
-
Some more really strange decisions at the selection table.
Although it's great to see Rioli debut, not sure it's the right call. Apart from about 30 minutes in NAB 3, he looked a fair bit of the pace of AFL footy
Why Morris? His NAB form was ordinary
Understand Lambert getting the gig as the defensive small forward but just think Lennon offers more variety. Can play as a lead up mobilr forward, a Gunston type role.
From what I hear there are no after effects from the glandular fever with Lennon, his case was extremely mild so his non selection is stange
Doesn't make sense to me that we are playing Lloyd and Lambert, too similar; read slow across the park

Thoughts on Griffs selection?

I count around 9 newbies or fringe players in the team.
This is like the perfect storm resulting in a Blues victory.
Worried sick.

More excuses fact is his preseason has been ordinary and a first yr player took his spot. WE LOVE LOOKING FOR EXCUSES AND THEN PUTTING THEM ABOUT AS FACTS.

PPPFFFTTTT. Excuses are excuses. If he had full blown GF he would not be playing would not be training and would not have a hope in hell of playing this year.
-
The selection of Morris does not surprise me
Training extremely well
-
LMAO
-
Morris and Lloyd. Making same mistakes year in year out.
Kidding ourselves. Hate negative people but bloody hell. Lennon surely plays.
Don't mind Rioli, yeah he's off the pace but I don't mind blooding untried talent. If Morris and Lloyd are genuinely in best 22 we have again failed in the off season.
-
Good selection.
No grigg no Chaplin
Well done
-

Yeah I'm just wondering about all these players that should have been included, who are they?

And the actual replacements are better? Look im all for change and think they have to go but the replacements!!!!!. Its a bit like jumping out of the pan into the fire.

Can tell Lloyd is probably 33% fitter than Lennon as this stage
No surprise to see Lloyd get a game and being rewarded for a hard pre season
Has earned his spot

l'm going to have nightmares tonight ;D

Half that team is below AFL standard if we win this one it will mean Carltank have more duds.
-
LMFAO this jackstar send up is stuffing hilarious
-
Morris adds hardness against a a young Carlton side, or so I assume is the rational
Lloyd can kick goals.
I pleased with rioli.
-
it may surprise some, but comparing the ages of the 22 that's named for the two sides, we are actually about 1 year younger on average compared with carlton (24.4 vs 25.6)

How are the Menadue c Ellis Mcintosh supposed to improve, or get the the standard unless they play #claw

not using it as an excuse what so ever...quite the contrary....
i just find it funny it's reported everywhere in the media that carlton is fielding a young and inexperienced side....
sad for them when they get pumped
-
The general consensus seems to be that a number of other players should be in this round 1 side. In addition to our injury situation it does show that we are developing more competition for spots which can only be a good thing moving forward.
Hardwick should have little excuse to keep under performers in the side. Alternatively should some of the younger brigade perform above expectations then with players still to return after injury we should become a much stronger unit overall.

The only fit players that have been nominated thus far are
Lennon. Who is stiff (again)
And bachelor. Which is a terrible suggestion

if youd taken any notice of the great sage, then youd know that it is years in the system that brings improvement. all they need to do is sit in the medical room and the improvement will come as time goes on.

Astbury > Chaplin
LOL. I dont think so, but even if he was its Marginal. We are actually debating who is the bigger hack not who is the better player.

we should have got drug cheat Carlisle
And should get drug cheat Hurley
Arsebury makes Chaplin look like Jakovich....
-
IMO Astbury is getting a go ahead of Chaplin because Carlton's forward line is young, and TBH I'm happy to see Chaplin losing/fighting for his spot. Honestly I'd be happy for Elton to get a crack ahead of Chaplin too - bloke needs a shot and Chaplin is in his last year of 'serviceable' footy I reckon.
Also nice to see Hunt get pushed out. Depth player at best.
Great to see C Ellis and Menadue playing.
Lids, Yarran, Lennon and Maric (our ruck sitch is so F'd) are missing from our best lineup. You would think Morris, Lloyd, Lambert (stiff) and Hampson will make way for those 4 eventually...
-

So are you suggesting that it's training form rather than how they've actually performed in NAB games is and should be the main criteria for selection for round 1 :huh
LLoyd & Morris (throw in Astbury too) may have been training brilliantly but their NAB form wasn't great

Well originally the RFC website had him named twice, back pocket and wing
Not sure his fitness levels are high enough for either position

11:15am: LIDS TO SLIDE IN LATE?
Some, uh, early late mail today, with Richmond star Brett Deledio - not named among the Tigers 25 - seen going through what looked to be a fitness test at Punt Rd this morning in front of club fitness staff.
While it seems very unlikely the midfield gun would get the shock call-up tonight, it's an interesting time for a test with Richmond still eight days away from their round two fixture.
