Title: Corey Ellis - the good news story of 2016
Post by: 🏅Dooks on May 06, 2016, 10:14:11 PM
This kid is punching way above his weight.

Loving his confidence and run.

Working his way into our top 8

Not hard breaking into our top 8. Competing with a whole heap of duds

I hear it's only a top four due to the lack of quality

I hear it's only a top two because we rebuilt during the expansion period.

I heard Rance demoted himself to second in favour of Chol.

I like watching both Rioli and C Ellis playing at the moment because Tigeritis hasn't completely stuffed them yet.  :rollin

Who was writing him off only a couple of rounds ago? He still has a way to go but it's obvious he just needs games and is already proven he's worth persevering with. Had a couple of dinky stuff ups with handballs missing targets but soon enough he'll gain some strength and confidence to ride the tackles and get the ball out effectively

Starting to look more comfortable with ball in hand but he defends like a little girl. He was on Breust in the first quarter when he kick those 3 goals.
i thought we might have thrown him in the middle at some stage last night but oF course we didn't. Pretty good opportunity to IMO with Mitchell and Hodge out.

I thought he might need a spell in the 2's after the Melbourne game as he looked down in confidence. It just proves the point that you continue playing lads like Lennon, Short, McBean etc when they do get a game and drop the established players who won't or refuse to improve.

Exactly.
Youth can improve dramatically. Senior players like Chaplin, Houli, Morris etc etc have no improvement left in them.
Play the kids.

bit of a cat. Looks good with ball in hand, but has massive deficiencies elsewhere

Sometimes looks a bit soft doesn't he? But he has also laid a couple of good tackles

Yer I think Cellis was in Bruest in the first quarter when he kicked his first 3 goals.
But seriously, why play him back? They should have given him time in the middle last night with Cotch out.

Someone has to play back

I would like

forward:  Cotchin. Deledio. Edwards. Lennon. Rioli

Middle:  martin. Vlastuin. Miles. Lambert. Menadue. Mcintosh.

Kid looks good, would persist with him and Menadue, Short + Castagna for the rest of the year. And play Lennon, McBean and Elton too.

We have 14 games left to see if they're worth keeping/able to accumulate any trade currency.

Blokes who should never play again at their expense:
Griffiths
Astbury
Chaplin

Just to name a few...
