If Halfstep picks the same old spuds again it'll probably be even less....
-
Our board will probably think it's the Pies fans that didn't turn up.
Nothing to see here guys. :shh
-
Already arranged to go away for the weekend. Ain't wasting my time watching this soft bunch excluding Martin & Rance. The rest can go fall over themselves.

Match preview: Richmond v Collingwood
AFL.com.au
3 August 2016
SUMMARY
It's been another horror week under the spotlight for Richmond after an 88-point loss to Greater Western Sydney. The Tigers were humiliated in the first quarter, conceding eight goals to none, and finished with three themselves for the game. They appear to be lacking in spirit, and youth in the team is no excuse for an absence of effort. Collingwood is a daunting task in these circumstances after four wins in six games and coming off a 19-point victory over West Coast. The Magpies' midfield is shining, and youngsters James Aish and Rising Star nominee Darcy Moore are contributing well. Finals are out of the question for the Pies, but unlike their opponents this week they are playing with real purpose. Under the Friday night lights, Richmond will at least need to match their opponents' effort.
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Friday, August 5, 7.50pm AEST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R2, 2016, Collingwood 13.9 (87) d Richmond 12.14 (86) at the MCG
R21, 2015, Richmond 23.9 (147) d Collingwood 7.14 (56) at the MCG
R7, 2015, Richmond 16.9 (105) d Collingwood 15.10 (100) at the MCG
R4, 2014, Collingwood 16.14 (110) d Richmond 10.12 (72) at the MCG
R4, 2013, Collingwood 16.17 (113) d Richmond 11.13 (79) at the MCG
THE SIX POINTS
1. Collingwood snatched a thrilling one-point win in round two, with ruckman Brodie Grundy snapping the match-winner with only seconds remaining. Alex Fasolo kicked a career-high six goals.
2. One advantage for the Tigers could be marks inside 50 (ranked fourth with 13.4 a game) The Magpies are ranked equal 14th with 10.8 a game.
3. The Tigers have slipped to 17th for inside 50s this season, averaging only 46.8 a game. They’ve also fallen to 15th in scoring with 80 points a game.
4. Richmond hasn’t defeated Collingwood on a Friday night since 2007. It has won two of its last three against the Magpies, following a seven-game losing streak.
5. Richmond is the worst tackling side in 2016 averaging only 62.8 a game. Collingwood has been impressive ranked second at 79.1 a game.
6. Eleven of Richmond's top 13 players in the Schick AFL Player Ratings are falling, with star defender Alex Rance and captain Trent Cotchin the only players in that group moving up.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR … Damien Hardwick.
The Richmond coach has been backed-in again this week by CEO Brendon Gale, but he is only ever one big loss away from more heavy scrutiny. Does the Tigers' board have the strength to stomach repeated heavy losses from a team now full of youth? Or does Hardwick need to stem the bleeding after 70 and 88-point losses? It is unfair to expect polished performances now from this Richmond team, but effort should be compulsory. If it is not there this week, Hardwick will have questions to answer internally.
PREDICTION: Collingwood by 38 points

I can hear opposition fans protesting already - NOT ANOTHER FRIDAY NIGHT INVOLVING RICHMOND.
Just hope the boys can put on a decent contest and not embarrass the club.
-
We are in BIG trouble peoples :-[
BIG trouble.
and it's what we needed too. :thumbsup
-
I'm tipping us to win
-
Me too. No stuffing prisoners.
-
The players need to come out and make a statement.
We need another big loss and another record low score.
Then hopefully they will move on Dimma,
:thumbsup
-
:thumbsup
we will get pantsed
-
Rfc making a statement
!
-
Watch Buckley outsmart dimwit and come up with an honourable loss.
-
yeah look, their a quality up and coming side with some great youth, they will be a real force next year.... :help
-
Figjams as bad as Dimwit, said it last time we played. Just we are a bit softer in the head at the moment 2.60 lmaooooooooooo :rollin
-
the stuffwits will win this week cause thats what they do.
what they should be doing is losing so hackson's gets pick 4 and not anything else that he will surely stuff up.
-
Watch Buckley outsmart dimwit and come up with an honourable loss.
i reckon his looked at the draw and may want to win. They cant exactly drop any lower unless they really let us smash them.
Either way win lose or draw im sure he will be outsmarting dimwit.
-
Draw
21 points each
-
Watch Buckley outsmart dimwit and come up with an honourable loss.
How is this smart?
It doesn't benefit Collingwood to finish below us. They do not have a first round pick and by second round, such a small difference doesn't make a difference. :whistle
-
Hearing whispers of D.Martin late out :'( :'(
-
:thumbsup
-
Sparse crowd at this early stage. Jim Jess to kick the opening ceremonial goal... :rollin
-
Astbury out with a hammy in the warm up.
Lambert in.
Change that. Astbury running out with the team to "test" the hammy. Lambert warming up in the rooms in case the change is made.
-
Astbury cleared to play. So no changes.
-
6 nil
-
First goal to Pies... :lol
-
Dumb long kick by Vickery. Griffs was outnumbered 3-4 to 1.
-
KB's Take: Tigers must walk the walk tonight
Kevin Bartlett
SEN
05 Aug 2016
On paper tonight’s game with 13th playing 12th is a snore-fest.
Both sides in Richmond & Collingwood have been major disappointments in 2016. For both pumped up their chances pre-season, the Tigers were eyeing off a top four spot and a flag challenge and the Pies were bullish that they were certain to play finals.
A lot has gone wrong for both sides but since the bye Collingwood has won four from six including wins over top eight teams in the Giants and West Coast.
Richmond has won only twice defeating the easy beats of the competition Brisbane and Essendon.
The Tigers effort against the Giants has the club at its lowest ebb for four years and the talk of the town.
Richmond have been the news this week for all the wrong reasons. Tonight Richmond has the opportunity to make a statement.
Long suffering Tiger fans are tired of all the talk, they need the team to walk the walk against the Pies tonight.

-
All over, might see if there is a movie on.
-
Umps loving the Pies tonight ::). Mind you that was dumb by Jack.
Individual effort there in the first 10 minutes but we're not working as a team and our skill level and decision making is atrocious :help. Once the heads drop as the scoreboard blows out again this is going to get ugly very quickly :help.
-
Moore :facepalm.
Vickery goal after not playing on like last time (he's learnt at least one thing :snidegrin).
Rich 6
Coll 25

Can't blame Cotch tonight when he is chasing and chasing and running past jogging teammates ::).
Quarter time
Richmond 3.0-18

Well they are on par with each other
-
Good god, Ellis is mic'ed up on Ch7
Give me strength
-
Oh good they have miked up Ellis... :help
-
Cotch has been brilliant so far, stunned he only has 5 disposals, has been constantly in it, clean hard at the ball and man. Marcon has been very good too
-
Despite winning nine fewer hitouts in the first quarter, Collingwood won 10 more clearances and it outscored Richmond by 14 points from this source. Six of the Tigers 14 hitouts were sharked with Scott Pendlebury leading all players with three sharks.
http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/2016/20/rich-v-coll
We've getting our scores from intercepts as we're getting smashed in the clearances.
-
Vickery's price going up.
-
Are we playing on ice skates tonight? :banghead.
Rioli saves the day and Vickery gets his usual goal quota ;D.
Rich 24
Coll 32
-
Seriously is BEllis BT's love child :chuck :chuck
-
First possie for Jack?
-
Griff is a mile off it tonight.
-
Having a shocker is Jack (clever mark though). That was a momentum building goal kick missed.
25 - 32
-
Nice disadvantage against Dusty, umps ::).
Houli finds Grigg 40m out. Goal!
Rich 31
Coll 32
-
Contest has been even throughout, 3 of the first 4 goals came
From very questionable decisions. Intent is there and good to see they are trying to play on at all costs.
-
So how is that not a high free? ::)
-
Finally the good Jack is back. Goal.
We're in front :o.
Rich 37
Coll 32
-
Jut about our best passage of play for the year. Can't recall the last time we went coast to coast
-
Use your left foot you gimp Ellis
-
Why banana kick within the vee, Brandon? :banghead
38 - 32
-
Cotchin's tackling tonight is the best I've seen in a long long time
-
Wow the umps are ducking terrible tonight. Always Lae with the whistle for us making us sweat for everything, and trigger happy for the pies
-
High on Rance and not paid ::).
And now the ump gifts the Pies one again in front of goal ::) :banghead.
-
now tell me those umpires aren't corrupt pricks
-
Rance's head almost ends up in Richmond station and the umpire says play on
Some c'wood bloke ducks his head and gets a free :banghead
-
How was that not a free to rance?
That's 4 goals From free kicks
-
Go and get stuffed umpired u cheating idiot
-
Unreal...
FFS, get Griff off.
-
Cotchin's tackling tonight is the best I've seen in a lomg long time
Yep, brilliant tonight.
A shame a few of his teammates aren't following his example in terms of intensity and chasing off the ball.
-
lol the ump is madly trying to make up for that stuffing blunder
-
Gee I like Drummond. Tough as nails.
-
Corchins been best on so far, hasn't had as much of the ball as some but has impacted the game, defensively has been fantastic, needs to bring this every week
Look at the umps evening it up quick smart
-
Umire trying to make up for poo decisions... :clapping
-
Hooray, we finally and actually got a free in front of the sticks. In the back to Drummond. Goal :gotigers
Rich 45
Coll 39
-
stuff me dead vickery chasing and tackling!
-
Rioli is running like he's in a cartoon, change your boots son, slipping over every time
-
Now you cant spoil FFS.. :banghead
-
LOL. Another BS free for no contact inside the Pies F50 ::)
-
Who the stuff is that ump? Has gone to town us us like we're jynx mazes arse
-
We lead at halftime
Which is extremely disappointing for umpires
They've done their absolute best to make sure that isnt the case
-
Half-time
Richmond 3.0 7.3-45
Coll'wood 5.2 6.3-39
Goals: Vickery 2, Riewoldt, Marcon, Moore, Grigg, Drummond
-
We're playing with some passion at least! :gotigers
-
We lead at halftime

Collingwood has scored 3.1 (19) directly from free kicks and a fourth goal from a 50 metre penalty.

::)
Richmond recorded 27 more disposals, including 19 more effective kicks, as well as winning nine more contested possessions and four more clearances in the second quarter.
More tackles as well (29-26)
Footy isn't a hard game when you do the basics often and well.
-

Markov
marcon
Hampson 0 disposals :lol
Only carrying a few passengers tonight, Hampson, jack and Griffiths have been woeful, other than that everyone is having a dip (most of the time) been a couple of crap efforts from ty and hamspud that have stood out
-
this umpire is taking the pee
-
We're actually kicking to the hot spot tonight but our tall forwards aren't there.
Another soft one to the Pies (50 against Hampson) ::).
-
And that's why Tiger fans hate this gameplan. Back to happy overuse of the handball until we put ourselves under pressure. Gifts the Pies a goal.
-
Still too many Tiges on ice skates :banghead.
Cotch saves the day. Quality tonight.
Grigg doesn't make the distance from 45m out :scream.
46 - 45
-
Markov's foot skills are un-Richmond like :snidegrin.
Jack poster. Nice kick but he tried to caress it through instead of taking a decent run-up at it behind the mark.
47 - 46
-
Dusty don't rush it :scream.
48 - 46
-
Cloke :rollin
-
Ordinary footy inside F50 this qtr :banghead
-
Rioli misses with a banana as well instead of going the plain old drop punt :scream.
49 - 47
-
Houli, bad decision maker, kicked to a 2 on 1 near the boundary when here was a player free at the top of 50. Lower the eyes ya mug
-
FFS astbury
That's what I mean about this bloke, every time the intensity goes up, he crumbles. He always clunks those marks
-
Dusty :gotigers
Finally we put it through the big sticks.

Coll 48

Jack :gotigers
Rich 61
Coll 48
Geez we have some dumb players :lol
-
We would be wooden spooners on the footy IQ ladder thats for sure.
-
As I said - we have some dumb players. 3 dumb mistakes in defence in the space of a minute. Gifts the Pies a soft goal :banghead.
-
Nice contested mark, Jack. Now need to finish it off. He does :gotigers.
Rich 67
Coll 55
-
JR8 is a legend

Nice hospital handpass to Floss, Brandon :lol

Goals: Riewoldt 3, Vickery 2, Marcon, Moore, Martin, Drummond, Grigg.
-
Mrakov has been fantastic tonight
Just quietly ;D
-
pretty classy is Oleg, they gonna move him up the ground later, looks like he doesn't shirk the hard stuff either
-
Richmond recorded 43 more disposals, including 21 more effective kicks, 20 more marks and four more inside 50s in the third quarter.
The Tigers have generated seven inside 50s this quarter from 13 chains originating in the defensive half and they have scored 20 points from these.
Jack Riewoldt recorded eight disposals as well as booting two goals and he was involved in all seven of his team's scores.

pretty classy is Oleg, they gonna move him up the ground later, looks like he doesn't shirk the hard stuff either
:thumbsup
-
We would be wooden spooners on the footy IQ ladder thats for sure.
:yep
Exhibit A just there. Intercept and 4 free Tiges running forward of the ball and we handball it to where the only Pie defender is :banghead. Pies run it up the other end for a goal :banghead
Push in the back to Jack though not paid ::).
-
Astbury :banghead
-
How pathetic was that, seriously
Marcon clueless
And then in the goal square all up none down, Pendlebury on his own
Pathetic
-
we would be four goals ahead if the umpiring was fair lol
-
Blink of an eye and they hit the front
Our clueless players never let us down
-
Mentally soft and dumb. Heaven forbid we come out of a break with the intensity and attitude to win a game that;s on the line.
-
Rioli
GOAL
-
Rioliiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :gotigers
Rich 73
Coll 68
-

Can Hammer and Griffs tap it down to the guys in Yellow & Black, please!
-
Too many hand passes from the Tiges not enough shepherds.
-
Can Griff grow a brain where to kick it
-
face palm of stupidity
they gonna cough this poo up in the dying minutes again ffs
-
I know Griff hasnt had a great night
But he has offered more around the ground than Hamspon has. He at least he makes contests
And if i never see Andre Moore again in a RFC jumper it will be too soon. Hopeless
-
Can Vlastuin learn to punch
-
Can Vlastuin learn to punch
On Aish? That was Moore
-
Ellis....
-
Dumb dumb dumb. Hospital handpass by Astbury to Short.
-
Touched all it deserved hah!!!!

Dumb by Cotchin, dragged it in
-

-
Oh no, Ellis has it :snidegrin
-
Best play all quarter by the tiges
-

-
Is it me or did it look like BEllis was pooing himself that he going to get hit by Griff :rollin
-
Never a doubt, Brandon :lol :gotigers
Rich 80
Coll 76
-
Oh no, Ellis has it :snidegrin
He'll try to handball into someones back :snidegrin
Goal :o
-
that umpire...
-
Penalise the guy going for the footy, hey ump.
-
5 mins to go. Hampson holds a mark.
-
Hampson gets the tap but he can't bullock the other ruck so he can put it anywhere useful.
-
WOOOOOOOT
-
Dusty you star
In the last 3 minutes Marcon has made up for his dumb mistakes = well done
-
Rance's goal there. Dusty mongrels it from 45 but it lands in Lloyd's arms in the goalsquare. :gotigers

Now can we actually not go in our shell with 4 mins to play and just win the game instead.
-
Dann it should we be tanking now?
-
Why do we try that slow the game down crap late in games when we're hopeless at it.
-
Why do we try that slow the game down crap late in games when we're hopeless at it.
Cos we can (not)
-
Cos we lost a few a few years ago but yeah we are crap at time wasting
-
We are home
-
I wonder if Cotch goes over and rubs Treloar on the top of the head ;D.

Now that never gets old
Stick that up your arse treloar

-
I'm actually happy for the players.
Now to hear Dimmer's presser
-
Rare win without Lids. :thumbsup
-
True Lozza True
-
wrong time of the year to win 'nothing' games but victory does assist the development of the kids......and a big kudos to them for their efforts tonight.
-
good performance, loved the endeavour - just bring that every week - gamestyle still turned to crap in the final qtr, i just hate dimmas footy philosophy but really happy to see markov, Short, Rioli and marcon have strong games
-

Don't forget Drummond....
-
yep stood up and took the hits a few times tonight - actually saw markov run back with the flight of the ball as well near the end - didnt get a mention from the commentators, but was great to see a young skinny fella put it on the line like that
-
Gents,
Loved beating the Pies tonight and asking the direct question of Pies fans about Buckleys legacy at the club. He's a liability and is allowed to run his club into the ground.
I mentioned this and a Pies fans said "yeah but his worth money than you" I responded with "and mate your lining his pockets - stuffing loser"
Funnily enough, no more banter
-
I'm actually happy for the players.
Now to hear Dimmer's presser
Happy for the kids, finally the dud played then and they played well.
His presser- usual dribble with hunt is a great soldier of our footy club and the club has zero debt (thanks to the FTF) and to the 70k members (us)

So am I. Dimma may not be a great coach but I don't hate him for it. He derserves to enjoy last night.

Marcon 2 games
Drummond 4 games
Markov 5 games
Short 13 games
Rioli 15 games.
-
Buckley had a stinker
-
Cant' complain when you beat the scum.
First 10 minutes were difficult around a bunch of Collingwood pigs, gee did we enjoy the rest!
Still think there are plenty of holes that need fixing and we need players playing as good as they can to get results. Which isn't sustainable. Grigg was very good and Moore and Houli who were both fumbly were as good as they've been. Again, can't depend on these players continually playing at their peak for 22 games + finals. Just too inconsistent but very happy with the win.

-
So fellow posters ......was that our Grand Final or will we sneak another win ?
-
Pretty much.
It's he best effort they can muster at this stage of the year and had to be sodomised for weeks before they reached that point.
Tragic

Tim Watson talks Tigers and Magpies
Joshua Papanikolaou
SEN
08 Aug 2016, 10:17AM
It was obvious that the bashing Richmond has copped in the media of late had an effect on the team given the raw emotion displayed after beating Collingwood on Friday night, says Tim Watson.
With the coach under immense pressure and murmurings of a challenge to the board the last month has been a torrid time for those working at Punt Road.
Despite that club president Peggy O’Neal gave a strong speech before the 15-point win against the Magpies assuring that their review would be thorough and concise.
“I reckon that was an insight (into how the players were feeling),” said Watson on SEN radio.
“As much as Damien Hardwick and the club would like to have painted the picture that it’s all external noise, it seeped its way in, they felt the pressure.
“That was the release of that pressure the emotional outburst after that game.
“It was a poor game of football, neither of those sides would trouble anyone in the top eight.
“After that win it was a reaction that they have been on the back foot, the players have been smashed around.
“Don’t wallpaper over that though, they’ve got a long way to go before they become a contender.”
The almost non-existent attempt by the Magpies to stop the Tigers from possessing the ball for long periods was a concerning issue for Watson, particularly against a team badly out of form.
“Massively disappointed in Collingwood because we’ve seen them from time to time this year where they’ve been okay and been able to excerpt pressure on opposition sides in the midfield,” he said.
“The most disappointing thing if I’m looking at that game as a fan – it was clear the way that Richmond were playing that game, they were going to chip the ball and maintain possession.
“They did nothing about it, they didn’t change the way they were playing to put extra pressure on Richmond to turn that game around.”

Good to get a win. Good to see Markov and Short play well and Rioli do some clever things. But the win was against Collingwood who have struggled this year and we are still too dependent on our gun players-Cotchin, Martin, Jack and Rance. Hopefully we can draft well this draft.

Collingwood - 120 tackles v West Coast, 71 v Richmond.....'nuff said...

They played into our hands the nuffers. Most teams (and majority of posters on here) have realised you put an inkling of pressure on us and we crumble but they let us do exactly what we wanted and no other team has let us do. Think they got exactly what they wanted :shh

what to not move down the ladder? Dont think so.
I think your reading too much into it. Perhaps the reason is simple in that they have the worst coach in the afl next to ours.

It's like a summary of last 7 years...

Richmond go to water whenever anybody "presses up" making it hard to get the ball out of defence
Pies just sat back and pretty much flooded regardless of how many uncontested marks were taken ... Tanking :o

Rance and Dusty both made this week's AFL website's team of the week.
FB: ALEX RANCE (Richmond) – Another huge game from the All Australian, who picked up 26 possessions against Collingwood, and had nine rebound 50s for the winners.
INT: DUSTIN MARTIN (Richmond) – One of a host of Tigers to respond to last week's shocker against the Giants, Martin gathered 34 possessions, had seven clearances and booted a goal.

they gave away their top picks so tanking isn't going to do too much for em. Neither side has too much to play for but having said that, Varcoe seemed pretty intent on hospitalising Hunt.

Supporters go into meltdown & melting memberships after GWS & they get up against the Scummy Skunks.
Still won't stop me from folding my long time membership at years end. 1 game won't cut it with me anymore :banghead

While it is good to win this win was against a side that has many deficiencies. It was not a great win. It was not a convincing win and it showed where we are at the moment-okay against bottom 8 clubs but no where near good enough to challenge premiership contenders.
