HAWTHORN’S Tyrone Vickery is the current AFL player being investigated by Victoria Police over a serious matter.
Vickery, 27, joined the Hawks as a free agent last October after eight years at Richmond.
Hawthorn released a statement this afternoon that reads: “Hawthorn Football Club is aware that Ty Vickery is assisting police in an investigation. As the matter is under investigation the club will not be making further comment at this time.”
Victoria Police are investigating Vickery and a former player.
The AFL refused to comment when contacted by the Herald Sun but confirmed the league had been made aware of the investigation on Wednesday afternoon.
Victoria Police have confirmed a 33-year-old Thornbury man has been arrested in Clarendon St, South Melbourne.
The arrest occurred at 1pm.
The man, understood to have been taken into custody by police outside tattoo parlour City of Ink, which is owned by Jake King and jailed underworld figure Toby Mitchell, was taken to the Melbourne crime investigation unit for questioning.
No charges have been laid at this stage.
Police confirmed they also arrested a 27-year-old man from Wheelers Hill.
“A 33-year-old man from Thornbury and a 27-year-old from Wheelers Hill have been arrested and are assisting police with their inquiries,’’ a police spokeswoman said.
Search warrants have been executed in Wheelers Hill, South Melbourne and Thornbury.
The investigation is ongoing.

I have edited this topic for legal reason
The only person named at this time is Ty Vickery
The "former AFL player" at this stage has not been named by any new services
So until this happens on mainstream media under no circumstances is anyone on this site to name the said "former player"

The age says king and TV involved. Trying to get 100K back someone stole from TV's restaurant.
Must suck having bucket loads stolen. One crook/ex employee from my work embezzled a million. Took him years but we always wondered how he owned 5 houses and drove new Mercedes.

Should add impersonation of a footballer to the charges

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has defended the character of former Tigers Tyrone Vickery and Jake King amid a criminal investigation over an alleged case of extortion.
King played 107 games at the Tigers before retiring in 2014, spending five seasons under Hardwick, while Vickery played 119 games before moving to Hawthorn at the end of last season.
The Tigers coach said he maintained irregular contact with Vickery and conceded he was shocked to hear of their involvement in a police investigation.
“Those two guys fought their backside off for me. From what I know of them … it is out of character for those guys,” he said.
“Across the year, you keep in touch … and Ty, I send texts and wish him all the best, happy birthday, those sort of things.”

Jake King gets 12 month good behaviour bond after threats
Brad Norington
The Australian
29 May 2018
Former Richmond player Jake King has escaped a jail sentence with the help of his fellow Tigers.
King was charged last July after he threatened to break the legs of a businessman if he did not pay him $150,000. He pleaded guilty to possessing testosterone supplements, but after references from former Richmond colleagues, he was sentenced to a 12-month good behaviour bond, without conviction, in Melbourne’s Magistrates Court yesterday. He must also pay $5000 to charity.
A list of Richmond greats including Brownlow medallist Dustin Martin, former player Matthew Richardson, Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale and former Tigers president Gary March provided character references for King.
It is understood a former police sergeant with 25 years’ experience also supplied a reference for King, who played 107 games until he was forced to retire due to injury in 2014. Vickery retired last year.

Where's the condemnation of Cho, Dusty, Benny & March?

Heard it was the reference from WAT that ultimately swayed the judge.... :shh

Glad he got off, sounds like the guy he tghreatened was the real crook. Though if he had broken someone's legs I'd have a different opinion.
