We are not that sort of side.... :rollin

Co-captain Steven May and midfield master Gary Ablett both expected to play Richmond on Saturday night.
With Jack Leslie (leg) and Rory Thompson (hamstring) already ruled out of contention, May's return in defence would be a huge boost for the struggling Suns.
Ablett has missed three of the past five matches with a combination of calf and hamstring issues.

Match preview: Gold Coast v Richmond
afl.com.au
26 July 2017
SUMMARY
One team is on the up and the other on the slide in this Saturday night match at Metricon Stadium. Richmond surged into the top four last week with a strong win over premiership fancies Greater Western Sydney, while the Suns continued to plummet, losing their third-straight match with a nine-goal defeat at the hands of the Western Bulldogs. The Tigers are loaded with midfield talent, led by Brownlow favourite Dustin Martin and red-hot skipper Trent Cotchin, while All Australian full-back Alex Rance seems a perfect match for struggling Suns skipper Tom Lynch. The Tigers have had their share of troubles with Gold Coast over the years, but if they're serious about challenging for the top-four and ultimately the premiership, they should leave Carrara with four premiership points.
WHERE AND WHEN: Metricon Stadium, Saturday, July 29, 7.25pm AEST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R12, 2016, Richmond 17.12 (114) d Gold Coast 15.7 (97) at the MCG
R20, 2015, Richmond 22.6 (138) d Gold Coast 8.7 (55) at the MCG
R1, 2014, Gold Coast 12.15 (87) d Richmond 10.9 (69) at Metricon Stadium
R16, 2013, Richmond 6.17 (53) d Gold Coast 6.8 (44) at Cazaly's Stadium
R16, 2012, Gold Coast 13.12 (90) d Richmond 13.10 (88) at Cazaly's Stadium
THE SIX POINTS
1. The Suns could have won when the teams last met, leading by 10 points at three-quarter time before the Tigers kicked eight goals to four in the final quarter. Dustin Martin picked up the three Brownlow votes with 38 disposals, eight inside 50s, six clearances and two goals.
2. Defensively the Tigers continue to be impressive, ranked third for least points conceded with an average of 79 per game. In contrast, the Suns are 16th, giving up an average of 103 points.
3. Nothing separates the teams from six contests, with three wins each. Four of the games have been decided by less than three goals.
4. Richmond is ranked second this season for marks inside 50, averaging 13.7, comfortably ahead of the Suns in equal-14th at an average of 11.1.
5. It’s been a mixed bag for the Tigers interstate in 2017, with two wins and two losses. Two games have been decided by 13 points or less and the other two by more than 50 points.
6. Dustin Martin is having an incredible season, and has moved to third overall in the Official AFL Player Ratings. He started the season ranked 30th.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR … Dion Prestia
The Richmond midfielder will play his first match against the Suns since leaving the club at the end of last season. Prestia spent six years at Carrara and after a patchy start to his time at Tigerland, has come good in the past fortnight.
PREDICTION: Richmond by 27 points.

Just drove past the stadium. Pretty impressive set up.from the outside. Alot bigger than i thought. The afl have pumped some big money into it. Not that that should suprise anyone.
But re the article - yep about a 5 goal win is a bare minimum pass mark.
7+ goals would be satisfying.
-
Just want 4 points and yup ill be there - Golf club drinkies pre game :cheers
-
I might actually attend. Currently in nsw. Hopefully we slaughter them in front of 5000
I reckon around 17,000. When they played the pies in the rain 2 weeks ago they got 17'000. A couple of years ago vs Rich it was 19500. Somewhere around there.

We're so short up forward our mosquito fleet would have just burnt him off :snidegrin

Last time I went to Carrara we were standing on a grass hill watching Bears v Footscray.
Did you run onto the ground while Beasley was lining up after the siren?
-
Going to be there with my son & his girlfriend. Unfortunately mini-me is in Perth

Did you run onto the ground while Beasley was lining up after the siren?
No, but I did run onto the ground and through the banner with Capper 8)
-
News off Twitter from fans at training is Dusty left the track early.
Could be another out????
-
For those in Melbourne its a comparatively different weather forecast on the Gold Coast today for the footy:-
Dry, light winds and 23 (18 for the start of the game).
No chance of the torrential rain that Collinhwood had to play in up here 2 weeks ago. :thumbsup
-
I reckon the ground will be a bit dewy tonight
-
Lots of fans out for lunch in their tiger gear on Cavill Ave and also down in Broadbeach earlier this morning.
Looks like quite a decent number have made the trip up. :gotigers

You see the Broadbeach bullet out there showing his Carey skills?
-
We've turned up asleep :banghead ::).

Finally get our hands on the ball. McIntosh nice pass to Rioli inside 50. Goal :gotigers
Rich 6
GC 12
Understatement to say we needed that!
-
Where's the defensive pressure, Tigers? 3 inside 50s for 3 goals to the Suns ::).
-
Dusty free in the centre. Goes long. Off the contest, Rioli kicks a point.
7 - 18
-
Houli off HB to Macca to Edwards. Finds Houli who has run on. Set shot from 50. Misses.
8 - 18
-
Houli towards FF. Out the back. Butler to Rioli = goal :gotigers.
Rich 14
GC 18
-
Poor start and some concerning signs, but good to see Rioli starting well.
-
Dusty now forward.
We get the centre clearance and it's a stoppage 40m out. Witts threw it (not paid) and GC get the free instead ::) and clear.
-
Umps paying some really soft frees
Caddy needs to start converting!
-
Almost stuffed it up in the middle with the Ellis-Cotch-Ellis passes. Houli now finds Caddy. Bad kick and another missed set shot :scream.
15 - 18
We're scoring goals just 21% of the time from our in50s. Apparently, the worst in the comp.
-
Kick to the pocket and Caddy marks it. Kick goes to the goalsquare :P and it's cleared by the Suns.
-
Gc player has possession of the ball fumbles and gets tackled holding the man, same thug happens in reverse 3 mins later it's play on
-
Dusty to Miles to Ellis. Good kick to Lambert at HF. Goes to Edwards who kicks around the body and Rioli takes a good mark running back with the flight. Goal :gotigers.
In front! Rioli with all 3 goals.
Rich 3.3-21
GC 3.0-18
-
Cotch goes forward. Everyone slips over. Nank had a good chance but missed it :P.
22 - 18
Gc player has possession of the ball fumbles and gets tackled holding the man, same thug happens in reverse 3 mins later it's play on
We've been on top in general play since that early Suns blitz and yet we're 4-6 behind in free kicks.
-
Good lad Rioli, has been down for a good 6-8 weeks, responding brilliantly.
Geez this poos me, every time they go fwd they can't miss, we miss from 15 and 25 metres
-
Suns goal makes us pay for our misses :banghead
22 - 24
-
Geez this poos me, every time they go fwd they can't miss, we miss from 15 and 25 metres
As they say - bad kicking is bad footy. Our goalkicking has been pathetic all year :banghead.
Edit: They finally missed one.
22 - 25
-
Almost time to change it.. ive seen this film before and dont like the ending :whistle
-
Our last 3 defensive clearances have been 2 OOTFs and an Edwards turnover off HB.
Thankfully, another miss to them.
Astbury cops one in the head and no free.
22 - 26
-
Edwards to FF but Caddy can't mark. Harbrow deliberate not paid. Throw-in. And another free to the Suns ::).
And another at HB ::).
And another to Wright ::).
There's two teams, umpires! >:(
-
This is a joke!
Deliberate not called????
3 soft frees to GC in a row, is deboy umpiring?
-
What the hell! 3 OOTFs by us in the last 5 mins :scream.
1/4 time
Richmond 3.4-22
Gold Coast 4.2-26
Goals: Rioli 3
-
FMD how that cat Cellis gets a game? Under no pressure whatsoever "silk" puts it out on the full.
Like last week, 6 of his 9 posies were turnovers but bc he did a couple of good turns, people wanted him to keep his spot. The bloke is the worst player on our list, FHO
-
This is a joke!
Deliberate not called????
3 soft frees to GC in a row, is deboy umpiring?
Frees: 4 - 10 ::)
-
loving the umpires tonight, pro stuff
-
loving the umpires tonight, pro stuff
Having a big impact thus far...they are so inconsistent :banghead
-
The small forward set-up isn't working so far. The Suns are doing a North and pushing numbers behind the ball and sucker punching us on the counter.
-
three frees in a row for 'holding' then ignored a stuffing jumper stretching hold that you could see from geostationary orbit when the ball was going the other way which caused a turnover.
-
Miles out of the middle to Dusty to Houli. Goes long. Rioli gathers to Caddy and he finds Grigg 40m out. Goal :gotigers.
Back in front!
Rich 4.4-28
GC 4.2-26
1 min Q2
-
Well worked goal!
-
Bad mistakes by two Suns at HB. Grigg tumbles one to the square and Nank gets a boot to it. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 5.4-34
GC 4.2-26
-
No one talking to Dusty.
-
Good to see Nank get one, should've had 2. Miles has been important so far.
Disappointing defensive play game hen, lucky GC hit the post
-
Every time they go forward they score :banghead.
Thankfully, they hit the post.
34 - 27
-
Are these umps seeing a different game to the rest of us?
-
Of course they are
-
Ellis inside 50. Georgie to Nank and it's a goal :gotigers
2 to the big Nank the tank.
Rich 6.4-40
GC 4.3-27
-
Of course they are
Just checking ;D.
-
Brilliantly worked goal from half back, well done nank and Edwards with a brilliant release handball
-
Of course they are
Just checking ;D.
:snidegrin
-
Bolton pushed = no free.
Ellis high to the pocket towards Nank. Off hands for a throw-in. Harbrow quick kick under pressure and we get the turnover. Caddy marks 20m out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 7.4-46
GC 4.3-27
10 mins Q2
-
Grimes puts Ah Chee down with an old fashion hip and shoulder :clapping.
-
We have 40 more possies and dominating yet Frees: 5 - 12 ::)
-
Georgie stuffed up a certain goal :facepalm.
-
Cantstandya :facepalm
-
The first three clearances of the second quarter have all been won by Anthony Miles. It's been a mammoth opening five minutes for Miles, who has won six disposals (five of these contested) at 100 per cent efficiency to go with his three clearances.
Richmond has put the foot down, kicking the first four goals of the quarter to extend their lead to a game-high 19 points. All four of these second quarter goals have been sourced from stoppages as they dominate the clearances.
http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/2017/19/gcfc-v-rich
-
Cantstandya :facepalm
lol.
He's frustrating. Knows how to get the pill around goal; If only he could kick straight.
-
Ellis off HB. Hands to Houli. Outside to Rioli 1-2 with Ellis. And they find Georgie 30m out on a tight angle. Banana misses.
48 - 27
-
Miles good. High ball inside 50 and Georgie marks. On a better angle this time. Misses to the right.
That's 3 misses for Georgie.
49 - 27
-
Ump pulls a 50 against us to gift them a goal ::).
Our misses and the umps are keeping them in it :banghead.
-
LOL. Another free to them.
-
I really like castagna but his misses kill us, absolute momentum killer, has fluffed two certain goals which would've put us nearly 40 up, instead GC go fwd courtesy of a generous 50 and it's back to 3 goals
-
How was that not holding e ball against lynch? These umps
-
Lucky Hanley kicked it OOTF.
Great stuff by Rance but where were his teammates running back to help? Not much defensive running by our mids.
We get it up the other end and Nank gets his 3rd :gotigers.
Rich 8.7-55
GC 5.3-33
-
Macca outside of the boot but the Suns defender touches it.
One min to go.
56 - 33
-
These umps
They've been a joke tonight.
-
Half-time
Richmond 3.4 8.8-56
Gold Coast 4.2 5.3-33
Goals: Nankervis 3, Rioli 3, Caddy, Grigg.
-
These umps
They've been a joke tonight.
They're providing more resistance than the suns
-
:lol
-
LOL Chuck!
-
just heard on the radio that this is our 7th game at Metricon, and the first time we have been in front at halftime.
-
Cantstandya :facepalm
How can someone be so bad at kicking the ball?
-
Suns may be down to just two on the bench.
If we could kick straight and make the most of our chances we would've/should've/could've been further in front.
-
Cantstandya :facepalm
How can someone be so bad at kicking the ball?
It's why he was a rookie draft selection. He's very good at every other aspect of the game but just can't kick :-\. If he could kick he would've went first round.
-
just heard on the radio that this is our 7th game at Metricon, and the first time we have been in front at halftime.
Wow hoodoo ground for us or what
-
Cantstandya :facepalm
How can someone be so bad at kicking the ball?
That one in the goal square was diabolical, but the miss from 20 out wasn't far behind. You can tell he has no routine, he's constantly twirling the ball and bouncing on his feet looking for a pass. Needs to develop a routine that works for him and then practice practice practice
-

If we could kick straight and make the most of our chances we would've/should've/could've been further in front.
2 rotations down and 4 goals down, if we lose this one then it would rank as our worst loss of the year.
-
just heard on the radio that this is our 7th game at Metricon, and the first time we have been in front at halftime.
That includes the bad news Bears days of Carrara plus a one-off against Adelaide. This is only the second time we've played the Suns at Metricon.

Thanks for that.
I couldn't quite believe we had played the Suns 7 times up here, but they didn't say that. They just said it was the first time we had been in front at halftime at Metricon.
-
Astbury goes long. A scramble inside 50 and Macca's snap misses.
57 - 33
-
Goal to them ::)
57 - 39
-
Caddy getting the Bronx cheers for holding a mark
-
We actually get a free for HTB and then another to Nank for interference in the marking contest. 55m out. Kicks it into the man on the mark :P.
Not switched on again after half-time :banghead.
-
We've come out sloppy and GC are out working us
-
And just like that it's game on again. Idiots ::)
-
Another to them. It's a repeat of the first qtr. We've come out asleep :banghead.
Where's the killer instinct, Tiges? :banghead
57 - 45
-
We're just turning it over everytime this qtr. Either poor disposal or just plain fumbling :scream.
-
I thought they stopped paying in the back when players dropped the knees ::)
-
Caddy. Lmfao
-
Rioli nice mark. Passes off to Dusty. Drifts left. Another missed set shot :scream.
Rich 8.10-58
GC 7.3-45
-
GC may be down to 1 on the bench - Ainsworth hurt his knee.
This is becoming very frustrating, we've let the GC back into the game and given it's their home ground we're playing with fire here if they get on a roll...
-
:facepalm :facepalm
-
Well done captain :clapping
-
Yep, they're down to just one on the bench. Yet, they are winning the qtr ::).
Cotch with a set shot and finally kicks one after all our misses :gotigers.
Rich 9.11-65
GC 7.4-46
-
Template working perfectly tonight
-
Poor tigers put them away keeping them in game were's the fire in the belly.
-
Do they work on goal kicking been so poor this year.
-
Georgie kicks the hard one on the siren :gotigers.
-
Can'tstandya!!!
Good finish to the qtr, after giving them a sniff. Now let's show some killer instinct and bury them early
-
Georgie! Never in doubt from the boundary line with a banana! :clapping
-
3/4 time
Richmond 3.4 8.8 11.11-77
Gold Coast 4.2 5.3 8.4-52
Goals: Nankervis 3, Rioli 3, Caddy, Grigg, Cotchin, Martin, Castagna.
-
GC down to one on the bench but with the umps it's still as good as even numbers.
-
just don't give him a soda in front from 3 feet out, or he will still kick it ootf with a banana. The key is to change Castagna's kicking style, make him turn 45 degrees away from goal when in front :cheers
-
How many frees has Witts received in the ruck? Probably more than our whole side has combined ::)
-
I've been impressed with Bellis tonight, actually I've liked his whole season, much improved and going fwds with speed a lot more.
Miles has been very important
Rioli has been dynamic
Broad isn't putting a foot wrong.
-
Macca long. Off the pack. Scramble and it's a ball-up 30m out. Cotch snaps a point.
78 - 52
-

Agree with that, TM.
Brandon isn't stopping and propping then going backwards and sideways this year.
Another point to us.
79 - 52
Double the scoring shots.
-
Disposal efficiency:
Rich 57%
GC 71 %
-
Goal to them :banghead.
79 - 58
-
sheesh wtf was that miles
-
We are tanking!
-
They've got just one on the bench and we're just trying to go through the motions rather than finishing the game off :scream.
-
Lol we just can't bury teams, it's really frustrating.
-
Rioli, legend, never gives up
-
looks like we are trying to train Castagna to kick goals
-
Houli to Cotch in the middle. Over the top to Ellis who finds Georgie. Another set shot for him. He's missed two from here. Not this time. Goal :gotigers
Rich 12.13-85
GC 9.4-58
16k at Metricon. Almost a Tiger home game in terms of crowd support.
-
It does sound like we have more support there haha
-
LOL. You run someone down and it's not HTB :lol.
At least, these umps are consistent tonight. Consistently, bad and biased.
-
Can we crack the ton tonight?
Look at the maggots giving us some cheapies at the end.
-
Free to Dusty. And we get two in a row :o. Free to Bolton. Goes to HF and hands over to Lambert. Long to the square and Corey Ellis takes a top pack mark. Goal :gotigers
Rich 13.13-91
GC 9.4-58
-
C. Ellis :clapping :clapping
Still perplexed they play him as an outside player..
-
Good mark Cellis, top mark actually.
-
Shame Jack didn't play tonight.
Would have kicked a bag I reckon.
-
great umpiring
-
Lynch pushes, looks to the ump with a guilty look and still no free ::).
Another goal gifted by the umps to the Suns tonight ::).
91 - 65
5 mins to go.
-
Umpiring performance about as good as the Suns.
-
Shame Jack didn't play tonight.
Would have kicked a bag I reckon.
I was thinking the same thing, Slipper. Easily would've had half a dozen.
-
more umpire charity in our fifty LOL stuff me sideways
-
Umps on some anti-Tigers agenda tonight ::).
Hanley wrapped up and not paid HTB :facepalm.
-
Lynch pushes, looks to the ump with a guilty look and still no free ::).

I'm not
-
how the stuff was that kick out 15 metres it wasn't even 3 feet?
-
Where do they pull that mark from for deliberate? Either spot of infringement or goal line.
-
Hooray, they finally give us a free inside F50 (deliberate) Lambert screws it around for a point.
92 - 65
-
Goal :gotigers
Rich 14.14-98

Why?
-
yeah but did you see the kick out, he paid a mark and it was 3 feet lol
Missed it trying to dig the crumbs out of the chip packet. They need to make the bags with round corners or have a tap on the bottom to get the last little buggers out.
-
Good to see Soldo getting a good run in the ruck tonight. He needs it.
-
And that's it :gotigers.
In the end, we did what we had to. Only in the first half of the second qtr did we put the foot down. Take the win and move on to the Hawthorn game.
-
Honestly that was a horrible advertisement for the game of AFL tonight, fastest I have ever deleted a game off the Foxtel IQ.
-
Was it just me or was Houli shocking?
-
Final Score
Richmond 3.4 8.8 11.11 14.14-98
Gold Coast 4.2 5.3 8.4 10.5-65
Goals: Nankervis 3, Rioli 3, Castagna 3, Caddy, Grigg, Cotchin, Martin, C.Ellis.

Was it just me or was Houli shocking?
Wasn't you
-
Was it just me or was Houli shocking?

Can't believe we win so many games carrying crap players
-
Take the win but will not be watching that again...umpiring is a disgrace :banghead

C. Ellis :clapping :clapping
Still perplexed they play him as an outside player..

Why?
Weak body, doesn't get it enough, have doubts he can win the hardball consistently at afl level. That pack mark was the first thing I've ever seen him do in the field that was robust and not timid
-
Was it just me or was Houli shocking?
A bit of a mixed game for mine. Periods where he was really effective on transition with him delivering off HB and then running on forward to receive. I thought his second qtr was v.good. Then there were other periods where he seemed to repeatedly miss targets he should have hit.
The game commentators on SEN actually praised Houli's game and said tonight showed we missed him off HB when he was rubbed out. They must have been focusing on the second qtr when the game was won.

I agree he plays a bit timid but I think it's more that he's not used to that outside role. Put him in the middle and he'll have more confidence in himself and his game. Will have a flow on effect and he'll get so much more ball as he doesn't know how to get the ball on the outside

Weak body, doesn't get it enough, have doubts he can win the hardball consistently at afl level. That pack mark was the first thing I've ever seen him do in the field that was robust and not timid
I agree he plays a bit timid but I think it's more that he's not used to that outside role. Put him in the middle and he'll have more confidence in himself and his game. Will have a flow on effect and he'll get so much more ball as he doesn't know how to get the ball on the outside
Don't mind the logic YR, might be something he can do as his body develops. Has a bit of class, like Dan Rioli I would like to see him do this on a bigger stage than against the GC

At the game last night. Had it taped for me on foxtel but i dont think ill be watching the replay. A low skilled game riddled with erroronous decision making and disposal which was punctuated with the odd cameo moment.
Umpiring very poor.
16,000 crowd i reckon only 3-5,000 gold coast supporters if they are lucky. 8 years after the concept was registered this whole experiment is a complete failure to date and i shudder to think the amount of money lost. Imagine what hundreds of millions would be able to do if it was pumped into facilities and junior programs in Tasmania (with leftover for Victoria) - would be an afl fortress and being a traditional afl state i dont think anyone would resent that.
That aside i thought dusty cotch rioli and Miles were good. Castagna works his arse off but jeez his finishing is shocking.
Caddy needs to lose some bulk and get serious.
Butler very quiet. Vlastuin and Edwards disposal (including handballs) to the opposition was very very poor.

What was disappointing was how RFC (IMO) took their foot off the gas in the 3rd quarter.

When GC got the first couple of goals they blare this trumpet like the opening bars of their pathetic song and when we kicked our first goal, one Richmond supporter yelled out "where's the trumpet now?" :lol

Our skill level & composure or lack thereof is still a major concern......lucky for us Ablett & May were out and the bad Gold Coast turned up...Hawthorn won't afford us such luxuries...

I would argue that the Hawks could have an off day and still win if we dished up that slop again this Sunday
