Next up is Dan:
Despite being drafted at the end of 2014, Dan didn't make his AFL debut until round 1 of this season (due to a knee injury in his first year and form in 2016). He subsequently played 23 AFL matches this year including all 3 finals and our premiership victory. All up he kicked 30 goals in 2017 and was ranked 10th in the AFL for total tackles Inside F50. His most prolific games for the season were 3 goals against Port (R15), Bris (R17 including 16 disposals) and Freo (R22 including 17 disposals). His highest possession game was against Carlton in round 1 where he also kicked 2 goals.

How did we all rate Butler's 2017?
-
I rated him a 6 which is good for his senior debut season. Adds zip and X factor but needs to impact a little more and add consistency which will happen with experience.
So far, I have rated most of the players at 5/6 or 7. It could be viewed as harsh but I see plenty of improvement which can only be a good thing.

Rated him a 6
30 goals is a good return and despite some experts saying he doesn't get enough disposals was an important part of our team mantra of pressure first
-
Everyone who played helped us win the flag.
They all get a 10 in my books.

Would actually suggest those numbers are about as good as it gets from a first year of seniors footy playing as a small forward.
-
Gave him a 7.
Mainly because of his B&F performance which meant he carried out the coaches instructions to the letter.
-
Dan Butler's highlights package is better than Rioli's. Inspired late pick.

And despite doing all that some experts expected him to be on par with seasoned campaigners
