Title: Who is at risk from our premiership 22 in 2018?
Post by: yellowandback on February 06, 2018, 08:58:32 PM
If there is one thing we know with some degree of certainty, it's that there will a minimum of 3-4 players from last years 22 who will most probably have to make way for other players this year as we refine and develop our playing style, team balance and structures.
Assuming there are no injuries (After all, this thread is a hypothetical) - who do you see that's most at risk this year and why?

From your poll list it is Broad for mine

Going to miss the 1st 3 games and will be surprised if he gets his spot back...

I think there are a couple on the books that will overtake Castagna this season so he gets my vote. I see the logic of selecting Broad because of the suspension though.

Townsend. Simply because he is the oldest, and despite the last 5 games has poorer exposed form.

Broady is actually older than Towner by nearly 2 months

Interesting responses so far.

I think the guy in the gun is Castagna, based purely on the number and quality of the back-ups to his small forward position. His decision making is ropey, and the brilliance of Bolton, Stengle and Higgins makes his position perilous.

To be honest, I'd have McIntosh and Broad not far behind. You can easily make a case for both.

Townsend pretty safe I reckon. Provides a hard contest in the forward line which is a little different to basically all the other forwards. Also, while he appeared to hit a purple patch last year, I think his superb conversion rate when shooting at goal is no mirage. Like Jack Graham, he has a lot of composure when shooting for goal. Both his hardness and composure are very hard attributes to ignore.
