It's hard to know because players drop like stuffing flies when there is any incidental contact. It's a blight on the game - like the Hawks decided last week if you can't beat 'em....

Not really a fan of the ducking tbh
Puopolo thought he was auditioning for the Cypriot limbo team.  :whistle
How low can you go?  :shh

Spew-up-olo is an utter flopper!  He looks to stick his head under arms & then exaggerates the contact, goes down like a shot injun if you even look at him!  A total blight on the game!  I hope that one day somebody takes his head off completely!

Serious question

What to do with Kane Lambert?

Was poor again today, cost us 3 goals with atrocitious decison making and terrible handballs in our F50

Horrilby out of form and not coping with the extra attention

And Rance is in trouble, like Caddy last week too late
I think Rance will be fine. His contact was late hence the 50 but the head knock happened when old mate hit the ground.

Here's a replay of the incident:

------------------------------------------

5. Rance under scrutiny after late hit

With Hawthorn mounting the latest of surges, Tigers defender Alex Rance tried to stem the flow physically, taking out Luke Bruest in the process. Set to mark a ball in the forward 50, Breust copped a late hit from Rance as the Tiger flew to try and spoil the ball. Breust was left groggy from the hit but did play out the game. It will be reviewed by match review officer Michael Christian who will decide if Rance can suit up for next week's game against Brisbane. Earlier in the heated final term, Cyril Rioli flew the flag for Paul Puopolo after he copped a high tackle with Tigers players voicing displeasure over a potential 'duck'.

Might be a good time to bring in Balta for a run. He was impressive in  the reserves match

 :thumbsup

Open hand and no concussion to the Hawk = 50m and no further action.

However, with the roulette wheel that is the MRP who knows?!  :huh

Don't believe he made contact to the head or am I blind?

There's no reported concussion from Hawthorn's medicos anyway so contact should be classed as "insignificant force to warrant a report".

Don't they just put a blind fold on and throw a dart at a board that determines force, intent and penalty?

Really late, and beware the delayed concussion.
I personally think it was just late, but the MRP are cracking down on just this sort of act.
We'll just have to wait and hope and yes we will need against the lions who are very hungry for a win and playing good footy.

I agree, although I think I'd rather see Balta playing with Rance in the side and one of our other tall defenders out.

The title of this thread should be updated. It's just a single Match review office now isn't it?

Also I think we will get shafted because we always do.

Depends what Michael Christian reckons he was looking at....I'd say the ball but then I also thought that's all Caddy was clearly looking at last week.... :shh

Difference with Caddy is no concussion.

Nothing or a fine at the most.

He was pinged for it. 50 metres. Nothing more to see, Grimes however will get a wrestling fine.

If I remember correctly, in both instances it was Breust that was the player in question and both times lay on the ground like he’s out for the count. I guess this is another way to try and either milk a free or 50 metre penalty as the umpire will assume that he was hit pretty heavily in the head or the tackle was overtly dangerous. In some way a clever ruse to fool the umpires and also get some needed rest without having to run to the bench.

No player has anything to worry about.

Soft. Breust milked it and made it look worse.

What is our game coming to? Rance hardly hit him with any force at all.

Rance “damn lucky” to avoid suspension says Lyon

By SEN
10 April 2018

Former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon believes Richmond’s Alex Rance is lucky to walk away with just a fine for his hit on Hawthorn’s Luke Breust.

The incident occurred late in the Tigers’ win over the Hawks on Sunday, with Rance arriving late to a marking contest. Match review officer Michael Christian deemed the hit as careless conduct with low impact to the head, which led to a $2,000 fine.

However, when compared to Josh Caddy’s suspension against Adelaide in Round 2, Lyon thinks the Richmond defender is fortunate to avoid a ban.

“I’m thinking Alex Rance is damn lucky today,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“He got a $2,000 fine, and his teammate Josh Caddy just missed a game for swatting at a ball that he missed and then he got David Mackay, who he knocked out.

“It was an open hand swat at the footy, and he missed the footy and got him, and because he was knocked out he got a week.

“Alex Rance’s was a pretty solid round arm spoil.”

Christian explained the decision yesterday.

"Yes (Rance) was late with his spoil, but he wasn't far away from the ball," he said.

"At the end of it all, to say that he intended to commit a reportable offence is stretching it too far."
