Richmond should target Sloane, says Cornes

Port Adelaide midfielder Kane Cornes believes reigning premiers Richmond should target Rory Sloane ahead of Tom Lynch.
The Tigers have been linked to the out of contract Gold Coast captain, but Cornes sees a creative way Sloane could end up the more damaging player for the club.
“They’ve been linked to Tom Lynch and a lot people are saying they need a forward to help out Jack Riewoldt, but I’ve got a different view, I think Rory Sloane is the man for Richmond,” Sloane told SEN’s Crunch Time.
“I think Dustin Martin is the second most dangerous forward in the game behind Lance Franklin.
“If you put Rory Sloane into the Richmond midfield, it allows Martin to spend 70 to 80 per cent of the time forward and he’s a 60-goal forward.
“And for Rory Sloane, wouldn’t it appeal to him to go to a big Victorian club and a side that is going to be around the mark for the next three to four years.”
The Tigers reportedly have the salary cap space to target a big player in the off-season and would be able to pick up Sloane or Lynch as free agents without needing to trade.

Jack is closer to retirement. Lynch for sure of the two.

Lynch all the way. We still have Milo Graham and even Higgins who can push into the midfield. Jack goes down we have no focal point for attack and no one to bring the ball to ground. Lynch is a no brainer

Not at the salary cost you would have to pay him.

Probably not. Dont forget, Cornes is a Port man and a South Australian. Probably hates the Crows more than we do. He could barely hide his glee when the Crows got knocked off last year, despite his anti Richmond campaign last year.

Sloane will be 29 next year and he's now missing games due to injury. Not the player profile our recruiters go for.

Sloane is going to come to Richmond on minimum salary.
Rumour is he doesn't want to have to play against Jack Graham in any sort of big game again.
