True. It wouldn't surprise me if Nank is rested and Soldo plays in the seniors for just the one game on Sunday.

No hes not hes been omitted from the senior team and not before time.
The reason hes not playing ressies is because it would mean just a three day break between games.

Markov has only had 3 possies by the way.
Quad tightness according to Ch 7.
Bolton off too after friendly fire.
-
Bit slack this quarter for my liking.
We've completely switched off. That's why Werribee players are all of a sudden hitting targets this qtr. There's no pressure on them unlike the first 3 qtrs.
Another goal to them.

Last quarter has been pathetic. That's what happens when pressure turns off.

Final Score
Richmond 3.7 10.9 16.13 17.16-118

Goals: Grewar 3, Stengle 3, Chol 3, Coleman-Jones 2, Lloyd 2, C.Ellis, Moore, Wood, Silvestro.
-
Lloyd - 23 disposals, 4 marks, 2 goals. Played midfield first 3 qtrs then played deep forward in the last.
Miles would have had mid-20 possies.
Chol - 10 disposals, 5 marks, 3 goals. Could have had 5 goals if he didn't fumble the ball at his feet.
Stengle lively up forward with 3 goals.
Garthwaite solid in a key defensive post.
Naish had about 10 disposals too play deep in defence.
Menadue often undid his good work off HB with poor kicks.
Quiet games from Markov (quad tightness), Bolton, Balta and Miller.
-
I went along today and looked like Markov had a corked thigh.
Lloyd was a cut above as was Miles. Garthwaite was solid as our key back. Silvestro looks pacy.
-
Really disappointing final quarter
That's all
-
Really disappointing final quarter
That's all
Yep.
-
Great sides don't turn off like that. Some work to do still but plenty of positives.
-
Maybe the players are figuring there’s no chance getting into the seniors. Might be a mental issue having to play in crap areas like Werribee when the big team is playing at the G in front of 90k.
I’d reckon it would be pretty demoralising secretly wanting there to be an injury to one of your mates but at the same time not wanting it to happen but knowing it was your only hope of getting a gig.
-
Last uarter was a disgrace.
Several players nowhere near as close to senior football as some think. :shh
For all his skills & smarts with the pill, Stengle won't be seen until he learns to chase. :shh
Bolton will be lucky to e seen at AFL level before he starts wearing purple or blue & gold...more interested in getting on youtune or that segment on the footy show.... :shh
Menadue needs to learn to actually kick to a target as well as the importance of one percenters- like f.e. smothering grubber kicks on the goal line instead of jumping out of the way as if the ball was a bullet.... :shh
Chol's when he stops fumbling - will be punished at AFL level and probably even by the better VFL sides....... :shh
Play CEllis on the ball or stuff off- useless as t@s on a bull anywhere else and why he's been moved off it is baffling... :shh
Oh & Lloyd just takes the pee at VFL level but his selfishness is a throwback to the tigers of not-so-old.... :shh

I didn’t understand your critique of chol.
And how were Miles, Balta, Moore and Coleman-Jones?
-
Chol will be closer to a senior call up when he stops fumbling.
Miles did ok considering he wore a hard tag all day from this mad unit who got away with murder and generally made Crowley look like Roland Rocchiccioli.
Moore was the best of the talls if not best on ground, CCJ - not as exciting as last week but looked promising again and Balta was relatively quiet -not surprising considering the backline had stuff all to do for the first 3 and a bit quarters- but was impressive when involved.
-
Thanks dio. :thumbsup

VFL Tigers roadshow rolls on
Richmond VFL took its show on the road for the first time in 2018, and travelled back up the Princes Freeway with the four points after a 38-point win over Werribee.
The battle of the Tigers was quite spicy at times, with Richmond outlasting its hosts, 17.16 (118) def. 11.14 (80).
Richmond's early inaccuracy opened the door for Werribee, who started the better in front of goal, until a Tiger cub stepped-up once again.
After staring in his debut last week, Callum Coleman-Jones picked up exactly where he left off, with his right-foot snap ending Richmond’s opening term inaccuracy.
The likes of Jake Aarts, Ryan Garthwaite and Sam Lloyd (12 opening-term disposals) held firm as Werribee made the most of their opportunities early, with the two-Vs launching scores from their back-half.
It took Coleman-Jones to break the duck, which led to goals to Blake Grewar and Mabior Chol.
Skipper, Steve Morris’ hellacious attack on the ball, which drew a high freekick was another act which ignited the Tigers in the opening term.
Aarts’ defensive prowess in the front-half led to the Tigers’ opening two majors, allowing them to trap Werribee, cause the turnover and capitalise in trademark fashion.
Sam Lloyd could have had an electric first term if not for errant kicking at goal, but his work in the contest and in transition was first class.
The Tigers ensured that they got maximum reward for supreme effort from the get-go in the second term, with Blake Grewar showing his worth up forward after a duo of second term majors.
Grewar was the leading goal-kicker on the ground at halftime after slotting three majors.
The tenacious Tiger has been flint-hard in the clinches since arriving at the Swinburne Centre, but his performance inside-50 showcased his polish and nous in front of goal.
Tyson Stengle was another to capitalise on his opportunities up forward in the second term.
Stengle continues to impress at VFL level, and turns half chances into goals at will.
Mabior Chol joined Stengle in providing plenty of headaches for the Werribee defenders, continually finding space goal-side of his opponent and either kicking goals, or handing them off.
Chol ended up with two majors in the opening half, with his development on a sharp upward trajectory.
Speedster, Connor Menadue (18 disposals) was another to impress throughout the day, with his slicing run-and-carry opening Werribee up between the arcs and repelling off halfback.
Brandon Wood backed-up his impressive performance against Casey, with his trademark toughness and footy smarts standing out.
Richmond's 45-point lead got pushed out to 71 points by three-quarter time as the visitors strangled Werribee and then exploded forward of centre.
Chol and Stengle added to their first-half tallies to join Blake Grewar on three majors, while the man they call “CJ” (Coleman-Jones), once again showcased his potential with a classy snap from congestion.
Werribee attempted to pierce through Richmond's defensive set-up by foot, which played into the travelling Tigers hands, as it was only a matter of time before the turnover was forced and the ball burst forward with imperious efficiency.
Mabior Chol put up his hand for goal of the day after swooping on a loose ball, he breached the forward 50-arc and coolly slotted through his third of the day.
With prolific ball-winner, Anthony Miles copping plenty of attention, Sam Lloyd and Brandon Wood shared the load through the midfield.
The duo were clean and tough in the clinches and also damaging on the spread and forward of centre.
Werribee fought its way back into the contest in the final term, with a drop off in Richmond's defensive intent leading to the hosts slamming on six-goals to one for the quarter.
The Tigers of the Werribee variety clunked 11 marks inside-50 in the last quarter alone, which presents a fantastic learning opportunity for Richmond VFL moving forward.
Richmond outmuscled their hosts for three quarters, and remain undefeated in 2018.
Tiger hard-nut Brandon Wood was brilliant with 32 disposals and a goal, Anthony Miles toiled away for a hard-fought, 26 disposals, while veteran, Sam Lloyd finished with 25 classy touches.
Up forward, Blake Grewar, Tyson Stengle and Mabior Chol all slotted three majors, while Lloyd and Callum Coleman-Jones chimed in with two goals apiece.

I'm glad someone else noticed the hard tag on Miles who sometimes was tackling him before he took possession of the ball.
-
I should aalso dd that Garthwaite was probably our best defender on the day.
Agreed - developing nicely and helps he doesn't over think situations and plays to his strengths. The thing i like is he is competitive at all times :clapping

How did Ben Miller go?
Hardly touched the footy in the first 3 quarters, last quarter he switched off with the rest of the team and made some mistakes. Still has a way to go.

Townsend was first inline I think you'll find. Brando was a better chance for Sunday but Saturday was never happening, champ. There is a big difference when there's an extra day to recover from a short break and the stakes are higher in the AFL. You don't risk your premiership players in the VFL in a situation like this. You should stick to crying about our song :shh

I’d like to see him play in Macintosh’s place and see how he goes. Maccas kicking has been atrocious.

Macca's last 5 have not been much better than atrocious well thats harsh i know but hes been pretty ordinary for a fair while now.
Heres a stat that shocked me. Hes a 192cm wing/hbf that is he goes deep into defence and also goes fwd yet in his last 5 games hes not taken a contested mark.
Such a big bloke hard running but barely gets a contested possesion. Hes barely getting the ball in his hands thats been a long term problem.
we pride ourselves on pressure and tackling and hes just not laying any tackles.Hes had about 2 clearances in 5 games theres little rebound from a bloke whos asked to go bck at times and as a running mid theres very few inside 50's as well. Top it off he looks out of sorts and he fumbles that much atm it aint funny.
We dont have to play favorites any more we play em on merit and Kamdyn has to go back and find some touch.

One of your better posts, big fella. Can't disagree with much of that

The VFL Report: Round 4
Development and VFL midfield coach, Xavier Clarke provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in last Saturday’s Round 4 win against Werribee at Avalon Airport Oval.
Sam Lloyd
24 disposals, two goals, six tackles, six clearances
“His second game in four days, he played on Tuesday night at AFL level and came back and was really dominant, especially around the midfield stoppages. It was also pleasing to see him lay six tackles, which is a feature of his game.”
Anthony Miles
22 disposals, six clearances, five tackles
“He should have brought his own saddle to the game, because he got sat on for the whole game. He got tagged fairly heavily, but he fought his way through and played a selfless role. He continues to turn up and play his best footy, which is pleasing to see.”
Connor Menadue
18 disposals, nine handball-receives, five rebound-50s
“Looked really good with the ball in hand, broke the lines. It was really pleasing to see him do that and back his skill in at the same time. Playing down at half-back with the backs down there who have been defending really well also. Getting five rebound-50s and three inside-50s shows that he can be pretty dangerous.”
Tyson Stengle
Three goals, 14 disposals, five inside-50s, three tackles
“Was very clever. He’s been playing really good footy over the past month, he had three goals and spent some time at the centre bounce in the last quarter. It was really pleasing to see him set us up in the forward line with his pressure and also his ability to get out of tackles. I don’t think he’s been tackled in the last two years, so that’s certainly a strength of his.”
Corey Ellis
13 disposals, one goal, five clearances, five tackles
“I thought Corey was still pretty good, he didn’t have a lot of the ball. He finished the game with 13 disposals, but his work-rate around the contest was a lot better. He finished with five tackles, which was a feature of his game. He also finished off with a nice, classy goal from a ruck contest.”
Patrick Naish
11 disposals and five rebound-50s
“He was a lot better this week with his defensive pressure. Played off half-back, defended really well and also looked good with ball in hand.”
Callum Moore
11 disposals, five marks, one goal, four inside-50s
“He was a bit quieter, but I thought his aerial contest was still pretty evident. He took a really nice mark coming out of defensive 50 and really helped guys like Mabior Chol and even our small forwards when he brought the ball to ground.”
Ryan Garthwaite
10 disposals, four rebound-50s, two tackles
“Solid down back for pretty much the whole game. Didn’t really get out-marked much, probably a little bit in the last quarter, but his ability to continue to be our best defender down there and control the backline as a second-year player is a really big step forward for him.”
Mabior Chol
Three goals, 10 disposals, seven hit-outs, five marks, four tackles
“Was very, very good other than missing a goal in the goal-square. He was fantastic. He looked dangerous. He looked big and strong. He took the game on, looked strong in the air, he also looked very good when the ball hit the ground. His ability to be able to go in the ruck and win centre-bounce hit-outs, he’s starting to become a really dangerous player.”
Callum Coleman-Jones
Two goals, 10 disposals, three tackles
“Was good again. He kicked two goals, aerial contest is starting to be a real feature of his game.”
Ivan Soldo
38 hit-outs, 10 disposals, two clearances, five inside-50s
“Soldo’s ruck-work was outstanding. Some of his centre-bounce taps were elite. Guys like Anthony Miles and Sam Lloyd really like Soldo getting his hands on the footy. He’s starting to become a really dominant ruckman, which is pleasing to see.”
Shai Bolton
Nine disposals and two inside-50s
“He got tagged pretty heavily, I thought he worked pretty hard though throughout the game still. He didn’t have a massive impact, especially on the scoreboard, but he still worked pretty hard up-and-down the ground and it’s something that he’ll need to work through in the coming weeks.”
Nathan Drummond
Eight disposals and four tackles
“Was fairly good. Played on the wing, didn’t have a hell of a lot of the footy, but his positioning around stoppages was good and he was good in defense.”
Noah Balta
Six disposals and four rebound-50s
“A bit quieter, but still strong in defense and developing down as a defender. He’ll continue to grow his game.”
Oleg Markov
Four disposals and two tackles
“A bit quieter, he had a quad issue early in the first quarter, tried to play it out throughout the game. Unfortunately, he didn’t see the game out. He was a bit quieter compared to his standards, but he defended really well.”
Ben Miller
Two disposals
“Was pretty solid down back, having Ryan Garthwaite and him down there, they’re really starting to build and really solid backline between them.”
Brandon Wood
27 disposals, one goal, seven clearances & five inside-50s
“Was very dominant for us in the midfield. Finished the game with 27 disposals, but I think the pleasing thing for him is his contested ball numbers, 16 contested ball, seven clearances and also finished the game with one goal. He’s in good form for us, he’s had a big pre-season, so it’s good to see him get the reward.”
Tom Silvestro
15 disposals, six tackles, one goal, four clearances, six inside-50s
“Played probably his best game for us so far. It’s only his second game back after injury, but he’s been absolutely fantastic, six tackles, he’s just a workhorse. Plays out on a wing for us and the boys love having him in the team and he’s certainly one that gets our VFL side going. It’s great seeing him back in the side.”
Blake Grewar
Three goals, 13 disposals, three tackles
“Has been fantastic for us. He had three goals on the weekend, but his ability to work around contests in the forward 50 is really evident. He’s very strong in the contest and very clever around goals, which was pleasing to see.”
Steve Morris
11 disposals and three tackles
“The captain leads from the front, defended really well and didn’t do much wrong.”
Jacob Ballard
11 disposals, one goal, three tackles
“He didn’t have a lot of the ball, but he and Blake Grewar add so much to our midfield group with their big, strong bodies. They help us out so much, both in attack and defense. He’s playing really good footy so far this season.”
Jake Aarts
10 disposals, four inside-50s, three marks
“Just provides great forward 50 pressure for us. Same as the other VFL-listed boys, he just gets us going. His pressure around the ball is elite and the boys love having him in the side.”
Reuben Hayward
Six disposals, three tackles, three rebound-50s
“Our 23rd player, played a little bit more time on the wing this week. He wasn’t too bad. His positioning was good, defends well and doesn’t do much wrong. The boys love having him in the team, because he just gives everything he’s got.”

I thought Callum Coleman Jones was pretty good. I usually don't like hyphened named players because traditionally they've been soft, hopefully CCJ can break the mould. Could be a handy forward for us especially at 200cm playing deep.

Are those stats correct?
They had 100 more disposals, almost 100 more marks...
My god we're an efficient side.
-
Magpies had 50 more possies and 80 more uncontested so it's not hugely surprising to me

Rope-a-dope footy.... :shh
