Title: Most underrated Tiger in your time watching footy?
Post by: one-eyed on May 17, 2018, 03:09:57 PM
Wallace today was asked on SEN to name the underrated players he had dealt with in his time as both a player and a coach. He name Nathan Foley as an unsung hero in his time as our coach who didn’t quite get the recognition they deserved.

Nathan Foley
Richmond / 154 games / 2004-2015
“He was getting tagged by people like Cameron Ling and doing a number on them.”

So who is/are your most underrated Tiger(s) in your time watching footy?

Will pay that  :shh

Would have thrived in a shithot footy side. Will never forget him turning down an offer from Collingwood worth nearly double what we had offered. Loyal and could play  :shh

Daryl Freame!  Being part of the 1980 Premiership team & coming off the bench for 10 solid minutes at the end of the game robbed him of any further glories!     :clapping

Daryl Cumming. Pro runner who was like lightening. Absolutely starred in the 1974 flag but lost his way after that and went to Melbourne, North and finally South.

By the AFL community, of recent, easily Nathan Foley. That bloke cut through midfields like butter. Shame he played his best footy when we were absolute trash and couldn't get on the park when we were a respectable unit.

Absolute top bloke as well  :thumbsup

Bruce Lennon

Came SA (Sturt for memory) after 2 knee recos

Club waited 12 months for him to come over they rated him so highly

Wait was worth, great skills, sure by hand and foot. Good decision maker

In the seaon he played he showed he was going to be a very good player, personally i reckon great player

Along came Jeans and he flicked him for reasons that were never explained

Went back to SA and starred

Never forgot him kicking a goal for us it was one of the best kicks I had ever seen at that time. Stuart Maxfield, Paul Bullus, Chris Bond and Matty Rogers for me were very underrated.

He wasn't underrated. A dead set 🔫..

I reckon he was a gun too, he was one of the cleanest and most efficient ball users I have seen. He was your quintessential two possession player. When he got a possession, the team always got two.

But I also reckon he never got the acclaim he deserved from outside the club.

A fantastic player whose name never comes up when they talk about great midfielders from that era.

To me, he was very underrated.

Chris Bond was very good. Very unheralded.
Jamie Tape was an excellent player hardly beaten one on one and terribly underrated.
