We got through today unscathed :thumbsup.
Fire away with your changes?

Nank for Soldo.
Butler probably the only other in for season now but not sure who comes out? Kmac? Think Higgins is entrenched now
-
Out: Cantstandya
In: Nank
Run x2 rucks for the last 2 weeks

Forgot about Townsend. When we play GWS he must play on Whitfield
-
Nank for Soldo.
Butler probably the only other in for season now but not sure who comes out? Kmac? Think Higgins is entrenched now
Aside from Nank returning in place of Soldo, any other changes are not easy or obvious now we're getting players back.
If Higgins is entrenched, then Butler in for George as a straight swap? If not, then Higgins gets pushed into the midfield and you may be right pmac about Kmac being pushed out.
-
George for some reason is alot better player with Butler there.

For me the person at risk if Butler returns is Ellis. Given Houli is back and the rise of Short his place is at risk. I don't see them dropping Higgins as he can play midfield and forward.

No VFL this weekend will make the Butler situation tricky

Fair point there. With houli and short in the side is there any more space for a half back flanker? Injuries aside, i think butler comes back in rd 23 and towners a sneaky chance for finals looks like to me that kmac and bellis would be most in danger of losing their spots. In any case this is a good problem to have and the more players putting their hands up for selection the merrier!

The Barometer - Round 22
Herald-Sun
13 Aug 2018
RICHMOND
ON THE BLOCK: Midfielder Kane Lambert will miss two matches after undergoing surgery on his ankle. Other than that, the Tigers finished with a clean bill of health yet again as rivals lose players left and right. It wasn’t Jason Castagna’s day (four kicks) but the only unforced change is likely to be Ivan Soldo, who came in as cover for a sore Toby Nankervis.
ON THE CUSP: A disappointing day for Richmond’s VFL outfit which suffered a 44-point loss to Williamstown. More concerning was Reece Conca hurting his “good” ankle in his comeback game. Anthony Miles had his usual truckload of possessions.
AL PATON’S FORECAST: Toby Nankervis should return, although with top spot all but secure and Soldo hardly disgracing himself against the Suns (34 hit-outs, nine disposals), why not give Nank another week to rest up for September? Somehow Essendon’s season is still alive, setting up another Friday night cracker. Last time these two teams met the Bombers came in with momentum and were walloped by 11 goals. Can the Tigers repeat the dose?

In the Mix - Round 22

RICHMOND
Get them in: Toby Nankervis (corked quad) should return after being managed last week from the Gold Coast game. Anthony Miles continued to shine at VFL level with 29 disposals and a goal on Saturday while Corey Ellis had 26, Connor Menadue 19 and Sam Lloyd laid a whopping 12 tackles.
Under the pump: Ivan Soldo held his own against Jarrod Witts but will stand aside for the return of Nankervis. Jason Castagna was quiet but will hold his spot with no obvious replacement and at least one forced change for the clash with Essendon.
Medical room: Nankervis will be fine but Kane Lambert will miss the next two weeks after minor surgery to strengthen his ankle following an incident against the Suns. Dan Butler had the same procedure last week after failing to regain full power in his recovery from a round 16 sprain. The Tigers are now preparing both for the first final. Reece Conca had 19 disposals before rolling his "other" ankle in his return game at VFL level but should be available this weekend, although the VFL team has a bye.
Verdict: Nankervis in for Soldo and Menadue/Lloyd for Lambert.

Miles and Corey Ellis got the best reviews in the VFL report but it looks like their papers are stamped based on past failed promotions to the AFL side. Lloyd, despite a quieter game in the VFL side against Willy, was unlucky to be dropped after the Geelong game. So I'd reckon he'll come in for Lambert.
-
Reported on SEN that Prestia has a hammy injury
-
Geez that sucks if true
2 important players in lambert and Prestia playing a first final coming off injuries is not ideal
-
Yeah hamstring soreness for Prestia, won't play this week. I'd rest him till the first final anyway, he's one guy that has shown he can come straight in and play well.
Miles and Lloyd in.
-
Must do everything possible to get key players fit for finals.
Surely this is why we keep players like Miles and Lloyd on the list.
It doesn't really matter if we drop one of the next two games . Should be only thinking about title defence.
-
someone from another forum is at trainign and says both prestia and Conca are training this morning?
-
The bloke that broke the Prestia news reckons that he still might be able to play Friday night.

Key Tigers midfielder in doubt for Bombers clash
Ben Guthrie

RICHMOND midfielder Dion Prestia is in doubt for Friday night's clash with Essendon as he battles hamstring soreness.
Prestia went for scans during the week and while he has not suffered a strain, the Tigers are expected to be cautious with the treatment of the injury.
Richmond football manager Neil Balme told AFL.com.au Prestia would be given every chance to face the Bombers, but given his injury history this season he would not be risked.
"Dion trained today (Wednesday) and we're not certain about what we'll do with him," Balme said.
"I guess there's some doubt, but nothing's been decided yet."
Prestia pulled up sore after Saturday's game against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium but was running at training on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old battled a hamstring complaint in the pre-season, while he also been hampered by a calf injury and missed the clash against the Cats a fortnight ago with sore ribs.
"He was a bit sore on the weekend, but he played the game out," Balme said.
"If there's any genuine risk with him we won't play him, but we've just got to see how he pulls up from the session today."
Prestia has averaged 23.5 disposals from 10 matches for the Tigers this season.

-
So basically he pulled up sore after the game, went in for scans which confirm no damage, he trains today bc he’s fine but given his history we probably won’t risk him this fri night. I’m comfortable with that
-
Will be interesting to see the media reaction if we drop this game. We clearly have the opportunity to rest players yet am sure the Bummers will be declared the next big thing if they manage to knock us off.
-
I reckon we’ll have too much pride in trying to keep the MCG fortress thing going on the eve of the finals.

Saw that FB post.
I was staying in Broadbeach for the GC game. The team must have been staying nearby as I continually ran into them.
On Friday night, I was having dinner at a restaurant and Prestia was on the next table having dinner with Steven May and another player (I think Brodie). Also Nic Holman was at the restaurant at another table. Didn't look like they were having a big night. Just a quiet bite and a few waters.
Then on Sunday morning, I was down getting a coffee and there was Dion with some bird waiting for a table for brekkie. Was about 9:15am. I was surprised as I assumed the players would have been back to Melb on Saturday night due to the 6 day turnaround. He didn't look like he was under the weather or anything so I doubt he was out until the wee hours. I remember wondering whether he may have had permission to stay on the coast for an extra day to catch up with friends. I doubt the story but it's not impossible to have occurred on Friday night or Saturday night as he was around for it to happen

IN (OUT)
Lloyd (Lambert) Miles (Prestia) Cotchin (Menadue) Martin (Townsend)
Leave Nankervis out ...
-
If Astbury is sore with calf to bring in Garth.

Yeah will be interesting, good first hand info though TT.
My guess is if Trent misses this Friday then perhaps the other piece of info is true :whistle

No Cotchin . Prestia or Astbury at training

Would suggest biggest lot of garbage ever posted on the internet
You might find he actually flew up the night before and some do stay on an extra night
Not a crime to go to a restaurant and have a drink

Officially Cotch, Astbury and Prestia out.
Shock as Tiger stars are ruled out for Dons clash
Sarah Black
afl.com.au

RICHMOND has ruled out premiership captain Trent Cotchin, key defender David Astbury and star midfielder Dion Prestia from Friday night's clash against Essendon.
The club is taking a safety-first approach with the trio, with Cotchin and Prestia both missing with hamstring soreness, and Astbury dealing with a sore Achilles.
They are all expected to miss just the one week and be available for selection for the round 23 match against Western Bulldogs.
Ryan Garthwaite, who has played just one game, is the most likely replacement for Astbury.
Coach Damien Hardwick told reporters Prestia would have played if required, but the club is taking a safety-first approach with the 25-year-old after hamstring, calf and rib injuries throughout the year.
"Dion won't play. He's got a little bit of hamstring soreness, so we'll take a really conservative approach with him," Hardwick said.
"He'll train, he obviously trained yesterday, but we won't push him and give him an easier week this week.
"At this stage (it's a one-week injury). Once again, we'll assess these things as we go along, but we're probably at the situation at the moment, coming into the pointy end that we'll take a conservative approach with those players that need it, and he's one of those guys at present."
With Kane Lambert (syndesmosis) also a confirmed out from the 22 that comfortably accounted for Gold Coast last week, the Tigers will be forced to make at least four changes.
Richmond had an extended squad of 27 at its captain's run, including Corey Ellis, Connor Menadue, Sam Lloyd, Jacob Townsend, Ryan Garthwaite, small forwards Liam Baker and Tyson Stengle.
Ellis, Menadue and Lloyd have traditionally been the players who throughout this year have come in to cover for injured midfielders.
Baker and Stengle could come into the picture if the Tigers decide to play usual small forwards Jack Higgins and Daniel Rioli up the ground.
Reece Conca, who rolled his "good ankle" in his comeback VFL match from a dislocated ankle last weekend, trained fully, as did the club's two ruckmen, Toby Nankervis and Ivan Soldo.

just dont put that freaking dud Menadue in again.....try someone else....ANYONE

Things just got really interesting
Great test of what our list depth is actually like as opposed to what's been spruiked

Interesting plenty of work put into both Garthwaite and Soldo at training today. Soldo in particular 🤔

Menadue and CEllis trained with the 27 today,(hopefully thats all they do).
Think it will be
Garthwaite
Lloyd
Nank all certainties
Townsend or stengle or baker for the final position
-
just dont put that freaking dud Menadue in again.....try someone else....ANYONE
Agreed.
He has had enough chances this year and he has made Bellis look brave.
-
The Bombers are going to risk their players carrying injuries.
ESSENDON expects key trio Cale Hooker, Brendon Goddard and Adam Saad to be available for Friday night's crunch clash with reigning premiers Richmond.
Bombers skipper Dyson Heppell, who is set to play his 150th AFL game on Friday night, says the Tigers remain a formidable opponent.
"I don't know if I've played them in my time without those guys, but I guess it's not about one player," Heppell told reporters.
"They've got amazing consistency right throughout that side.
"To test yourselves against the best side, who have been super this year, is what you want."

Method to the madness. Handy to have our fringe players get a full game at AFL level with the VFL team having the bye this week.
Higgins & Caddy will need to spend more time in the midfield rotation. So Townsend & a small forward (Baker or Stengle) to come in up forward. Lloyd to fill the remaining midfield role.
Out: Astbury, Cotchin, Prestia, Lambert
In: Garthwaite, Lloyd, Townsend, Baker/Stengle
If we want to give Nank another week's rest then obviously Soldo stays in.
-
Any chance they might experiment with two ruckmen?
The resting ruckman to down back to cover Astbury?
:bow
-
Crap, gave a four goal start in a bet before I knew the outs

Tiges lose four for Friday night
Richmond has opened the door for Essendon to keep their finals hopes alive with captain Trent Cotchin, Kane Lambert, Dion Prestia and David Astbury all ruled out.
Prestia and Cotchin will miss with hamstring soreness, clearly indicating the club has opted to rest the midfield duo.
Astbury had an Achilles complaint, while Lambert underwent minor surgery on an ankle injury earlier in the week.
None of the injuries are serious as the Tigers enter management mode in the lead-up to finals.
In better news, ruckman Toby Nankervis should return after being managed last week.
Corey Ellis, Connor Menadue and Sam Lloyd are the likely candidates to earn a recall.

One can only speculate about Miles if he can't get a gig tomorrow night.

Might leave him in 🤔

Well then, it's not fair on Conca. How he be expected to play well playing half a game in 8 weeks?

They just want him to get through tomorrow night with solid gametime, if he cant then he wouldnt have been ready for finals anyway - needed to take the punt and Im sure Conca is thankful of the chance otherwise he was zero chance
-
Conca’s going to cost me a good bottle of red on Friday night
-
its a good ploy by dimma. Blokes like conca will be hungry for a spot in the finals.
Lose and its goodbye and possible forever.
I would hate to lose to these cheats, but it may happen as we have bigger fish to fry.
