FRINGE Richmond players Connor Menadue and Callum Moore are set to sign one-year deals to remain at Punt Road in 2019.
The pair of 22-year-olds are poised to join Shai Bolton as re-signed Tigers following the West Australian's committal for one year this week.
It's understood their extensions aren't yet finalised but the Tigers are keen to secure the pair, and they are happy to stay.
Menadue played five AFL games this year and Moore six, with both impressing in the club's losing VFL semi-final last month.

If true both are very lucky indeed
-
I'm happy to give them only one year. They then know they're on there last chance and need to pull out all stops.
-
Giving Moore another year is the correct decision....Menadue...not so much.... :shh
-
Moore not is not lucky come of the rookee list only 22 yrs KP player give him time.Thought he showed a bit in seniors this year needs to clean up a few things kicking at goals and staying in games, but great agility and speed and also handy below the deck and good mark.Play him as a winger or half forward.
-
The number of those already leaving is probably what saved them. I'd doubt the Club would want more than 7-8 changes in one off-season.
Moore now permanently on the senior list?
-
The key to Moore making is whether or not we use him correctly if & when he gets another senior call-up.....he's a utility - winger/defender/third tall in that order....being used more as a relief ruck would also greatly help his cause.. and with Lynch arriving he's at least less likely to be thrust into the second tall role at AFL level, which his weakest position IMO (not counting FF which he rarely is used as even the twos).... :shh

Other way round for me :shh

Why?
Hampson, BG, Llordo, CEllis, Conca, Milo probably Bellis and Towneris 8 gone so 10 players out with picks 16,32 and then I think we’ve traded out our 3rd rounder. We might get a second rounder for Belllis, we are lucky if we get anything better than a 4th rounder for CEllis and Llordo - given they’re out of contract and reserves players.
We’re not well served losing 7-8 players due to delisting and replacing with picks beyond 70. That makes no sense at all.
-
After watching them both this year I don’t think either will make it but with all the outs it’s probably the right call for 1 extra year.
Menadue needs to turn from playing like a kid to playing like an adult.
Moore is quick and has really good dukes but to make it at AFL level as a KPF you need more than just good hands.
Anyway good luck to both of them.
-
Moore won't make it as a KPF because he isn't one..... :shh

He has less chance of making it as a wingman/onballer/flanker in the AFL than a tall forward. He just doesn’t have skills or smarts to play those rolls.
Obviously he is not your Josh Kennedy tall forward type, his only chance of making it at AFL IMO is if he plays your Jack Gunston type tall forward roll. Jack Darling even....
KPF was probably the wrong term, tall forward/3rd tall is probably closer to the mark.
-
Keeping Moore is the right decision. I think he has potential, but only worth trying out for one more year IMO, either to develop into a replacement for when Jack retires so we don't just rely on Lynch down the track, or to build trade value for next year.
Menadue...what a disgraceful decision. This guy has gone backwards. So soft he makes me hurl.

What have you based this assessment on?
-
Probably based on the fact Moore has shown promise this year & had a few big games as a KPF in the 2's..
And Menadue hasn't done much in the last 2 years.
Not hard to figure out why he has that opinion

Menadue saved himself with some good performances in the twos. He was one of our best in the final against Essendon. That and the fact he has pace meant he was offered one year IMHO.
-
Agree he was one of very few who were serviceable in that final, for sure. He does have pace but he doesn't use it enough in the seniors IMO.
I don't hate that he's been kept on but I can't see him breaking into the side in 2019 anymore often than he has done in the last few seasons. Good luck to him though

Richmond has re-signed emerging Tigers, Connor Menadue and Callum Moore, with the 22-year-olds inking new deals to remain at Tigerland next season.
Menadue, a speedy half-back/wingman, made five senior appearances in 2018 to take his career tally to 33 games after being taken with selection no. 33 overall in the 2014 National AFL Draft.
Moore’s improvement in 2018 saw him play six games at AFL level, for a return of four goals, and provided key forward support to Jack Riewoldt.
At 193cm, Moore has great speed and agility for his height, and contested marking, aerial work, and attack on the ball are his key strengths.
Moore was recruited by Richmond with selection no. 12 overall in the 2016 Rookie Draft.
Richmond's General Manager - Football, Neil Balme said he’s pleased with the pair’s continued development.
“As players, Connor and Callum have some really exciting attributes, they’re also great people to have at our football club, and we look forward to them continuing their improvement in the pre-season,” Balme said.

Will both be delisted next year....Moore because the coaches will continue to incorrectly insist that he's a key forward and Menadue not only because, like CEllis before him, they won't play him on ball enough but also because, like CEllis before him, he's just not that good really.... :shh

Menadue also a world class jerk-off apparently. Not much love at the club.
