richmondfc.com.au
Sep 10, 2019

Eligible Richmond members have the opportunity to register in the Grand Final ticket ballot this Thursday, September 12, to purchase a ticket to this year’s Toyota AFL Grand Final, should Richmond qualify.

The only way to access a ticket via your membership is to register at your designated time via Ticketek. If you do not register according to the following instructions you will forfeit your entry into the Grand Final ticket ballot.

If you have a question or need to access your member barcode number or priority details, please contact the Richmond membership department on 1300 742 466. We expect phone lines to be busy this week, so please bear with us.

To register for a Grand Final ticket you will need your membership barcode number and any barcode number of members you wish to sit with. Members who wish to sit together must register in a group providing all membership barcode numbers in one transaction, using one credit card. A limit of eight (8 ) barcodes per transaction applies. Each member barcode will be charged a $5.00 non-refundable fee at time of registration to cover administration costs.

Registration times vary depending on the Priority group you are in:

    Priority 1 – 8am – 11am AEST
    Priority 2 – 12pm – 3pm AEST
    Priority 3 – 4pm – 7pm AEST

Priority 1 (Guaranteed): 2019 Premiership Circle - Great Southern Stand, Ponsford, Olympic (excluding Premiership Circle Provisional members), Maurice Rioli Club (Provisional, Tier 2, Tier 1) 3121, Club XI, Richmond Executive, Legends, Jacks Club and Yellow & Black members.

Priority 2 (Ballot):
All Platinum 25-49 years consecutive members

Priority 3 (Ballot):
All Gold 10-24 years consecutive members

If you do not fall into one of these priority groups, unfortunately you will not have access to purchasing a Grand Final ticket if Richmond participates.

Sounds like there's been a change to that category that I'm not aware of.

I know we've lost some of the benefits we once had which sucks

Seriously torch, what does it matter?

If you are MRS member and been told you are priority one for registering what does it matter?

22 years a member and still only priority 3!!

One of the many challenges with having 100k+ members and there only being 17k tickets for each competing club.

Don't think there is a fairer way the club can do it...

The years criteria should change. Gold at 10 years is too low. Gold should be 20 years to 30 years and Platinum should be 30 years plus.

As someone who is on the verge of platinum it would be bad for me but its not right that someone who has only just done 10 years gets similar rights to someone who had been a consrcutive member for much longer.

Unfortunately, it’s always going to be the more you pay, the more you get. Each year the club resets. It needs more money to run. What happened last year doesn’t count. That’s reality. The club has to balance long term commitment to large cash input and if people don’t get much return for their higher level membership, why would they bother forking out the cash?

10 years is a long time. I've been a member since I could walk, only just ticked over to platinum this season. Is it fair that someone who has literally been a member their entire life misses out on a GF because they literally arn't old enough?

Think it's fine, personally. I still got a standing room ticket in '17 with my gold membership. They can never take that away from me  :)

If anyone gets a spare ticket via the ballot and can't go can I be the first to get access.
Yeah, I'm not proud, just want to go once in my lifetime.

So you want to suddenly change something that's been in place for over 20 years? Why? Becasue the club has 100k+ members and is trying to manage something that's beyond their control.

i agree with ramps on this one? Its actually a fairer thing to do IMO

i wont ever cancel my afl membership for fear of missing out on my club ballot, which i suspect i will even at 17 years service.

anyway good luck to all.

10 years is too low for gold. Thats all. It should be hard to get gold or platinum. What ive advocated is
to my personal detriment but the club should reward the diehards who were there 20 years when we were crap and only had like 20,000 members.

2019 TOYOTA AFL GRAND FINAL TICKETING
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RICHMOND MEMBERS

Richmond members who are successful in obtaining a 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final ticket via the member ballot will automatically be charged for tickets on Saturday, September 21 following tonight’s preliminary final win.

Please ensure that you have enough funds for all tickets on your nominated card. There will be no follow up on any rejected credit cards once the ballot has been run. If your credit card fails to process, your tickets will be reallocated to eligible member/s.

BALLOT RESULTS

Ballot results will be available here (RFC website) and on the 2019 Finals Hub at 12pm on Monday, September 23. Simply search for your Ticketek Customer ID in the lists to be provided to see if you were successful or unsuccessful in the ballot. Email notification will also be sent to successful and unsuccessful members on Monday, September 23.

Your Ticketek Customer ID can be found on your registration confirmation email from Ticketek. Members who registered over the phone were given this number at the completion of the call.

Members who registered more than one group in the same account will need to search for their Ticketek Customer ID multiple times in the successful list and unsuccessful list.

To check if your Ticketek Customer ID is in either list, hold down ‘CTRL’ and hit the ‘F’ key on your keyboard to open the search function and enter your Ticketek Account Number. If you are unable to find your number in the successful list, you will need to check the unsuccessful list as well. If you are unable to find your Ticketek Account Number on either list, and have a Ticketek Registration Confirmation, please contact the Richmond membership department on 1300 742 466.

TICKET COLLECTION

Tickets for successful members will be available for collection from all Victorian and selected interstate Ticketek outlets from 9am Tuesday September 24.

Alternatively, Grand Final tickets can be collected from the Ticketek box office at the MCG (Gate 3B) on Grand Final Day.

Please note that only the credit card holder may collect the tickets and must present photo ID, the credit card used to purchase the tickets and the Ticketek Customer ID.

It is highly recommended that the credit card holder collects their tickets prior to Grand Final Day.

2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final tickets will not be posted.

Hey guys.

Just wanted to bump this thread, with all the others getting plenty of attention this morning.

If you're like me and in the ballot, remember to make sure you've got funds in the right accounts and ready to go for a potential debit. I think you'd need up to $500 per ticket potentially, so make sure you've got it covered.

My brother just got docked $824 - he and my dad are MRC. Does that sound like cat2?

I sadly declined my MRC because I'd just found out we were expecting and I didn't want to spend the $$$ on myself, so my fingers are crossed for any of a P2 and P3.

Actually...
There are 3 transactions
$824 for 2x priority 1's
$185
And $155

So it sounds like our P2 and P3 all came through?

Can I assume with nothing debited that I missed out on tickets?

Yeah no text means you miss out as I have.

That's why I will never cancel my afl full membership, because relying on the club to look after its actual members is too much of an ask it seems.

Gee some people are hard to please. In 2017 my tickets were QF, meaning top of the Great Southern stand restricted viewing. My son and I went and I wouldn’t swap the memories for anything.

If you get a ticket no matter how, be grateful for it cause a lot of people won’t.

Whilst I'm physically capable of getting to the top we have a ticket holder that won't be able to due to a disability so that's why I think it sucks as they most likely will miss out after having paid for priority 1 access for over a decade.

I don't think it was just directed at you EemA. There has been alot of complaints by a number of posters unhappy with what they've got.

Just on your friend Couldn't you register them for a special seat?. I thought you could for people with disability?

But people need to understand we have 100k + members, the AFL only allocate 17k tickets to each of the competing clubs. People are going to be disappointed, it cannot be avoided. Our club is doing the best they can with how the ballot works.

It wasn’t a cheap shot at anyone. Forget the 100,000 members we have, there would be a hell of a lot more people out there supporting the Tigers who would love a ticket but will not get one. My point simply was that if you are lucky enough to get one, be grateful for it.

FWIW, I think I have seen the Tigers ‘live’ about 15 times in my life. To put that into perspective, I am less than 5 years off getting the guarantee for a GF ticket. The last game I have been to was the 2017 GF. That ticket was more precious to me than just about anything in the world. After that game, I was happy but also felt a bit empty because I realised that I had fulfilled a dream, the top of my bucket list and that a lot of people, included many I knew, would never get to see the Tigers win a flag ‘live’ despite it being their dream too.

So this time I didn’t go in the ballot. I felt I should let someone else have a go. I sincerely hope that a lot of people who didn’t get to go in 2017 get a ticket this time.

Tigers fans hope to pounce on unwanted GWS AFL grand final tickets

Rachel Wells, Carolyn Webb
The Age
22 September 2019

AFL Fans Association vice president and Richmond member Cheryl Critchley was among thousands of Richmond members who were allocated tickets on Saturday - only to have any history of their seat allocation disappear shortly after.

The tickets reappeared in their account history hours later. Ms Critchley said it was an "anxious" time for fans.

Ticketek did not respond to questions from The Age.

All Richmond and GWS members who registered in their clubs' ballot will know by Monday if they have got tickets to Saturday's grand final, with each club allocated 17,000 tickets for their members.

However, Richmond supporters are hoping GWS's 30,109 members will not take up their allocation of tickets and they can be transferred to Tigers members. Richmond has 103,358 members.

AFL Fans Association president Gerry Eeman said the fact that tens of thousands of die-hard and paid-up Richmond members would miss out on grand final tickets highlighted the need for the AFL to allocate more tickets to competing club members.

"The Tigers and Giants have a combined 133,467 members who will share just 34,000 tickets – just a one in four chance of securing one," he said.

“Thousands of tickets each year get allocated to non-competing clubs which in turn funnel many of these tickets into expensive packages. Simply put, the allocation to non-competing clubs must be scrapped. It’s an insult to members of the competing clubs who miss out each year."

On Sunday afternoon, the AFL confirmed that any of the 17,000 tickets not taken up by GWS members would be offered to Richmond members.

GWS spokesman Leigh Meyrick said the club would not know until Monday how many of its 17,000 tickets had been allocated in the ballot.

In 2016, 200 standing tickets not used by Sydney Swans members were transferred to Bulldogs members, who got to witness their team win the premiership.

Meanwhile, tickets for gold AFL members who support competing clubs went on sale at 11am on Sunday. No tickets were made available to AFL silver members.

Dan Bryan, 40, of Hobart, said he had booked flights and accommodation for himself and his brother-in-law Andy Connor, from Friday to Sunday but has no tickets to the game.

He is "hoping that a miracle will happen and I can get to the MCG on grand final day’’.

Christine Maynard, 44, of Richmond, said she and her son Kai, 11, ‘‘sit out in the rain every week’’ to watch Richmond play, however while she is eligible for the club ticket ballot as a gold member (a member for 10 years plus), Kai isn’t eligible because he is silver member.

She has been taking her son to Richmond games since he was a week and a half old. It was not fair that ‘‘people who don’t even follow Richmond and don’t go to games’’ can go to the Grand Final, for example corporate people and AFL members.

Ms Maynard said she bought tickets to the 2017 grand final for $1500, which the original buyer bought for $200.

Ali Yesilyurt, 49, of Roxburgh Park, would dearly like tickets for himself and his fellow Richmond fanatic son Salih, 25.

Yesilyurt is a Richmond member, but his younger son, Bilal, 20, has autism and can’t handle crowds, so this year the only game Ali went to was Friday night’s preliminary final against Geelong.

He has been unsuccessful in ballots for grand final tickets and has been scouring social media and asking friends for spare tickets.

"If tickets did come our way we’d be over the moon, we’d be thrilled to bits," said Ali, who has never watched Richmond live at a grand final.

Salih said he grew up watching Richmond often lose and in 2017 he and his dad watched them win the grand final on TV at a cousin’s house in Glenroy.

‘‘It would mean the world’’ to be at the MCG on Saturday. ‘‘Ever since I’ve followed footy from the early 2000s, my team has been not that good, the laughing stock," Salih said.

"Now that we’re a good team, it feels unreal. And I don’t know when this opportunity might come again."

Tens of thousands of footy fans are set to descend on Melbourne during grand final week.

More than 70 extra train and tram services will be added to the regular timetable to help Tigers and Giants fans enjoy the grand final and Friday's grand final parade.

From Wednesday until Saturday, the free tram zone will also be extended to include Route 70 stops at Melbourne Arena and route 48 and 75 stops at Jolimont station. Additional route 70 and 75 trams will also be put on.

Meanwhile, Swan Street will be closed to traffic between Punt Road and Church Street from 4.30pm on Saturday to help cope with an expected influx of Tigers fans.

Route 70 trams will be diverted down Bridge Road, between Russell Street and Riversdale Junction.

8 was the limit in a group, you could only register 8 barcodes

And we got category 2 seats, level P in GSS

In 2017 and now 2019 I haven't heard of anyone getting category 1 seats

Corporates should get good seats
Take Toyota as example .. they get a heap of seats and they get distributed around the dealer network

With the amount of money Toyota invests to be the major sponsor, they should get a bucketload of seats .. it’s big business and the way it is

Without corporate dollars there wouldn’t be a competition

But it goes both ways right? Without fans and members you have a rubbish spectacle of a sport. Whenever the media does feel good stories of fans having their dreams realised watching their team in the GF, they’ Getting sound bites from patient bulldogs fans (2016) or the tiger army in 2017. They’re not interviewing a board member of Toyota or AAMI how much they love football

FYI

Heard an email is coming out to those who weren't successful. Giants have released some of theirs back in the pool. May have to log into Ticketek tomorrow and enter your barcode to see if you are successful this time

Hopefully you all can get one

I have 4 premiership circle seats and a high level coterie membership.  I used the premiership circle seats to get 4 tickets so I could go with my family. I ended up getting category 1 through that method.....

Footy fans angry as bought Grand Final seats 'disappear' online

Lucy Mae Beers
23 Sep 2019

AFL fans are demanding answers after details of their purchased Grand Final tickets disappeared from their online accounts.

Richmond Tigers fans took to social media over the weekend, claiming their allocations are not showing up in their Ticketek order history.

As the payments have already been processed, many are wondering if they will still have seats at Saturday's clash between the Tigers and GWS Giants at the MCG.

The tickets are the member ballot tickets as some supporters are guaranteed a Grand Final ticket as part of their club membership deal if their team make it.

On Saturday, thousands of Richmond fans received confirmation of their seats from Ticketek, but a few hours later the transaction records disappeared from their accounts.

"Is it possible you have stuffed it up again? I had seats now I don’t. You’ve taken my money," one angry fan tweeted.

Another said: "I had tickets allocated yesterday and they are now not in my history anymore if I don’t have the original seats I was allocated I will be filthy angry!"

Ticketek have responded, saying the ballots are still being processed and fans can check if they were successful from 9am on Monday.

"Payment was processed over the weekend but allocation is being released tomorrow, please check back then," Ticketek tweeted in response to a concerned fan.

"The ballot information from your AFL club, credit card charges may appear on the 21st or 22nd of September.

"Members will be able to see if they were successful or unsuccessful on the Ticketek website from Monday 23 September."

SECONDARY GRAND FINAL TICKET SALE

Eligible Club members who were unsuccessful in the ballot or did not register may have the opportunity in a potential secondary on-sale, should there be remaining tickets at the completion of the GIANTS on-sale.

The secondary on-sale is open to eligible Club members on Tuesday, September 24 via Ticketek here (https://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=GRAND0119).

Please note - Strictly pending ticket availability.

The on-sale times are:

11am-1pm: Any unsuccessful ballot Richmond members (those who registered but missed out on a ticket)

12pm-1pm: Any remaining eligible Richmond members in Priority Groups 1-3 who did not register in the ballot

Priority 1:
2019 Premiership Circle - Great Southern Stand, Ponsford, Olympic (excluding Premiership Circle Provisional members), Maurice Rioli Club (Provisional, Tier 2, Tier 1) 3121, Club XI and Yellow & Black members.

Priority 2:
All Platinum 25-49 years consecutive members

Priority 3:
All Gold 10-24 years consecutive members

Please note, this is not a ballot system and will work as a normal on-sale via Ticketek. To have the best chance in securing ticket/s, eligible Club members will need:

1. Your Ticketek login details
2. Your 12-digit membership barcode (found on the back of your membership card). If you are purchasing for friends and family, please have their 12-digit barcode number ready too.

Members wishing to sit together must register their group in one transaction using one credit card. There is a maximum of 8 tickets per transaction.

Availability of tickets, including the category, is solely dependent on the tickets remaining from the GIANTS member allocation. For access to secure a Grand Final ticket, you must visit ticketek.com.au or call Ticketek on 1300 796 939 between 11am-1pm AEST, Tuesday September 24. Under no circumstance are tickets sold through the Club.

Please note, there are no junior ticket prices available for the 2019 AFL Grand Final. If you wish to buy a ticket for a junior, please buy a concession ticket.

Tickets will be allocated via ballot on a next best available basis, and therefore members can receive a Category 1-7 Reserved Seat, Restricted View seat or Standing Room ticket.

They should have had a larger tiger allocation in the ballot but I guess it would have been hard to predict how many GWS tickets would be snapped up.
