Will be a dull night for the Tiges but anyway.

Best Chance: Dustin Martin
The 2017 winner is unlikely to be among the frontrunners for this year's Brownlow, but could still have four performances worthy of best-on-ground votes. That should be enough for Martin to lead Richmond's count, despite the superstar only playing 16 games this year.
One-Vote Wonder: Mabior Chol (v Brisbane, round 18)
Chol featured in his best game for the year in a victory over the Lions, where he finished with four goals from 10 disposals, 12 hitouts and four marks. It could add to his career tally of one Brownlow vote, polled in just his third AFL game.

Despite missing the last five games of the season with a nasty kidney injury, Dustin Martin was the top vote-getter in the reigning premier's disappointing season. Martin polled three best-afields, including in the first two rounds of the season. Veteran Jack Riewoldt showed there's plenty left in the tank, while 14 Tigers polled, including key backs David Astbury and Dylan Grimes.

This award has become a joke. The umpires can't get decisions right on or off the field. They just check the AFL stats after the game to give their votes.
Wines is the worst winner since Shane Wowodien
-
Congrats to Ollie … but
They may as well change the name of the award to
“The biggest possession getter” award
IMO the bont is a far more valuable and effective player.

Jack Graham - 17 disposals, 3 goals, 12 tackles.....but no Brownlow vote.
-
Just rename it the Chaz Brownlow Midfielder's Medal already then add the Danny Frawley Golden Fist -done officially and professionally not as a gag- for the defenders...forwards already have the Coleman... :shh

Yeah nah that honour still belongs to Burger Rings.... would put Wines ahead of Neale & T.Mitchell as well for that matter...... :shh
-
People always say the Brownlow is a ‘midfielders’ award now but the players award, coaches award and media awards all get handed out to the mids too. No matter whose perspective you get, the mids will always come out on top.
-
It's the way the game is covered these days and the self-perpetuating echo chamber it exists in...all the more reason to institute awards for each line....:shh
-
Is it just me or is it ridiculous that Walsh got 30 votes? Sure he’s a jet. But Ablett only got 30 votes in his second Brownlow year where he absolutely dominated.
You can’t tell me Walsh had the same sort of year as ablett.
The same can be said for Dusty’s 36 vote 2017 compared to wines

You’d still get complaints as the definition of who plays in what line gets blurred i.e. your mid/fwd dusty types winning the forwards awards and your mid/half back flanker laird types winning it for defenders.

Yup the allocation of votes to individual players had ballooned. Seems some get votes based somewhat on name value these days. I remember when the winner of the Brownlow would have high teens to low 20s total votes. It used to lead to a lot more close and exciting counts.
-
If only there was a 45mtr square painted around Jack Reiwoldt ... he could win a Coleman & a Brownlow too! :pray
