Heard Jason Cloke on the radio this afternoon(SEN) and Travis Cloke is gone and will be going to Collingwood.
Huddo asked Jason what Travis' situation was and he said that they had come to a decision and that the club was working through a few things before announcing it in a couple of weeks. They pushed him for the club but he wouldnt reveal it.
HOWEVER, earlier in the interview they were asking Jason about his body size and he said that he hade never done weights before going to Collingwood and has really started to put on some muscle over the last year or so. He then mentioned how Cameron was the same and that when Travic comes to Collingwood next year he will do the same.
He slipped up and we probably never had a chance.
-
Yeah bully as i mentioned a day or 2 back on another thread, the Travis Cloke issue was a virtually a done deal.
A mate of mine who is a talent scout from an interstate club (which shall remian nameless)told me some info about the Clokes some time ago and how the Pies had a stranglehold on all of them.I believe Travis might be the best of them too. :(
-
Darn i remember watching travis earlier in the year and he looked the goods. A prospect ruck and FF. Thats exactly what we need. He is a 1st round talent and we would of got him at 3rd so its a big loss for rfc lets just hope we can get another coughlan type player and be better than travis.
-
He is, could play AFL now !
-
They all play the same game as their old man except it's 2004
and it's nothing special by todays standards.
Davis is a control freak.
We dont need that in the future.
-
Hey Ox, is that a typo :o, I think you meant David and not Davis ??
Last time I looked , the S key was next to the D key so that might explain it, lol
-
lol Jackstar.
I meant David.
S is next to D - thats how it happened :o - LMAO
-
The whole lot of the Clokes from the Mother and Father down can get stuffed as far as I am concerned, we don't need their kind at Richmond.
It would have been nice if they had come to the Tiges but I think Cogs will be worth it in the long run.
David Cloke started all the poohe between Rfc and the pies when he walked out.
Give me the Roaches. Raines, Monteath and Strahan any day.
Come to think of it he was in large part responsible for RFC policy of recruiting sub standard hacks it all started with Craig Stewart, Wally Lovett, Neil Peart etc etc. Sad thing is they are still doing it now = Billy Nichols, Adrian Fletcher what a couple of classics.
-
or Robinson.(or is is Robertson?).
Graham I mean(father)
-
so travis might be a good player? big deal I'm glad he wont be coming, dont need his boof head of a father sticking his nose into our business anyway.
plenty more kids in the draft to sign up
-
It'll be interesting to see anyway if he lives up to the hype. I haven't seen his play but being better than his older brothers isn't that much of a wrap. Jason is very slow with no accountability. Jury still out on Cameron. If Travis does ends up a good player and we pick up a good player ourselves with our third round pick then who cares really. Both clubs win. In the case of Cogs and Jason Cloke we came out the winner.
-
Who cares if he goes to Collingwood?
Not me ;)
Can you say "so long" before you've said "g'day"?
;D
All reports say that this year's draft talent wise is much deeper than last year

Travis Cloke set to make three
27 June 2004
Sunday Herald Sun
Scot Palmer
RICHMOND'S head-hunters can start the crucial review of its coaching department after learning Essendon's Kevin Sheedy is off the market.
And in more bad news for the Tigers it appears Travis Cloke will join his brothers, Jason and Cameron, at Collingwood.
The Magpies are confident the youngest of the Cloke football family will take up their offer for all three of them to play in the AFL together.
Defender Jason is also set to sign a new contract after a switch in management from Ricky Nixon's Flying Start organisation to join father David's new agency.
"It was in the best interests of the three boys that they be with their father," Nixon said.
Talent scouts from the Magpies and Richmond will monitor Travis's performances in the national under-19 championships, which start next week.
Richmond football director Greg Miller said he would get together soon with former coach David Parkin and Tiger president Clinton Casey to review Richmond's coaching positions.
Miller said there was one criterion already set down – applicants would have to have experience.
Miller said senior coach Danny Frawley would remain in charge of the Tigers for the rest of the home-and-away season, adding "there's never been any doubt about that".
But Frawley's position is in jeopardy and Richmond will look at the availability of several other people including former Sydney coach Rodney Eade and Sheedy's long-time assistant Mark Harvey, who could decide to move from Windy Hill now that his mentor will be there for another three years.

Wouldn't the above criterion rule out Mark Harvey as he would be a rookie senior coach ???
-
No Harvey and No Eade FFS !!!
They're Farwley re-visited.
Wallace for 3 years.
-
Happy thought ppls - Collingwood could end up with 3 overrated duds.
And their mother to boot lol
-
This morning on SEN, Greg MIller said that the Club hadn’t given up on Travis.
From what I remember, it seems that even though Collingwood has the front running at the moment, there was no need for the Clokes to make a decision just yet.
And, until it is time to do so, RFC has the opportunity to get its house in order and demonstrate that Richmond could be a viable option for Travis.
Don’t like our chances, because I think they’ve already made up their minds, but you never know with a new coach, new CEO, etc. how things could change.
-
Greg mentioned also we had presented an attractive financial package to the Cloke family for Travis (2 standard + 2 extra = 4 years :o) and mentioned to the Cloke family that it wouldn't be in Travis' best football interests to play in the same side as his older brothers.
We've gone in hard but I'd say he's already made up his mind to go to Collingwood. In one way I'm glad the 4 year deal for a bloke who hasn't even played a single AFL game fell through.
-
Oh yeah, forgot those crucial bits MT. :P
I was a bit surprised about the 4 year offer too, but considering how tough it is going to be to get him away from Collingwood, I suppose we had to offer something extra. Can't blame them for trying.
-
David Cloke this morning on SEN told KB they had not made up their mind yet which Club Travis is going to. Whether we still have real chance of snatching him or David's just trying to play off each Club to get a better deal out of Collingwood is anyone's guess. As reported we have offered him a 4 year deal.

Collingwood, Richmond waiting on Travis Cloke
By Melissa Ryan
realfooty.theage.com.au
July 2, 2004
David Cloke yesterday said his family has yet to decide whether Collingwood or Richmond will win the signature of youngest son Travis. Cloke said Travis had not tied himself formally to the Magpies, where elder brothers Jason and Cameron play.
"I have spoken to both Richmond and Collingwood about Travis and nothing has been signed about what he's doing. We're still talking about a number of things and no decision has been finalised," Cloke said.
"We as a family will sit down and make a decision about it when we want to come around and make it. I wouldn't say that any club's a frontrunner at all. I know both clubs pretty well and it's just a matter of weighing up . . . what we believe is the best thing for Travis. That could be tomorrow, that could be in three months," he said.
Cloke said his family would not be rushed into making its decision, with Travis currently preparing for the under-18s national championships.
"He doesn't have to go in this year's draft, if we don't want him to, because he's only a 17-year-old. It's three months away before anything can be done . . . I don't know what all the urgency's about," Cloke said.
"We just weigh up . . . the pluses for him to be at Collingwood and the pluses for him to be at Richmond, the negatives of him being at Collingwood and the negatives being at Richmond . . . weigh all those sorts of things and then make a decision on what we believe is the best for him."

Sounds like Miller has made some head way with old daddy cloke. Sounds like Miller has offered them 4 years too. Gee the boy better be good.
-
I can tell you he is a gun, if he could play for us tomorrow and be in our best. He is really mobile for his height and kicks as straight as a gun barrel. Takes contested marks and can play both ends.
-
Have to agree with you there this guy is definatly in the mould of scotty lucus i feel. Just the mobility and the big kicking and good marking. Excellent prospect. I was pretty disapointed when they said that he will be goin to collingwood but these last few article have been a little better. He would easily slot into our backline wizard cup game 1 next year. Then when richo goes be our Full forward for 8 years ;D
-
Living in the same cricket/football region as Travis tales occasionally filter through from schoolmates of his. I have heard Travis wants Richmond and David wants Collingwood. Not necessarily true, just what I've heard.
As I've said before, the Clokes do most things as a family so I would expect the 3 boys to play together. Travis is a really nice kid and I have no doubt he will be an absolute star.
-
Interesting FF. Seems we'll know either way in a couple of weeks time.
"He(Travis)'s got a big carnival coming up starting on Sunday," Cameron Cloke said.
"He just wants to worry about that and then, after the carnival, he'll sit down with dad and the rest of the family and then think about what's best for him and where he wants to go. He'll worry about that in a week or so."

TFS interviewed a couple of the expected top picks in the U18 championships. Travis Cloke mentioned Richmond was showing heaps of interest in him (no mention of Collingwood btw ;D). We've been sending him letters, wanting to meet up and being at all his games. We're definitely giving it our best shot.
-
Yes travis would be a good pick up for us i think and i would want him to play a scotty lucus role across half back. Althought he hasnt had the ebst of carnivals he has shown me that a round 3 is a good get.
-
Although he hasnt had the best of carnivals he has shown me that a round 3 is a good get.
On BF they said he had an injury before going into the carnival.
-
As long as Travis gets to make up his own mind which Club he wants to go to then no one can argue with that.
-
Seven News reported tonight that Travis had agreed to go to Collingwood and the papers were about to be lodged.
4 year deal worth over $500,000.
Hmmmm 4 years? Let me see the Pies originally offered 2, we supposedly offered 4 - now the Pies have agreed to 4. It sure seems we were used to up the "ante" ala Sheedy.
-
Lets just wait and see if Travis does go to the pies. Anything signed as yet ?
If soon to be appointed coach Terry Wallace has anything to do with it,Travis could still be wearing yellow and back. ;)
-
Are you trying to tell us something Jackstar? ;D
-
Just wait and see Mightytiges ! ;)
-
Hutchy again stated at half time of the Collingwood Brisbane game that Travis Cloke HAS signed with the Pies for 4 years.
As reported it is for $500,000
$50,000 in the first two seasons and $200,000 in the last 2 years of the deal. The magpies have panicked after we offered the same deal to the clokes. David who is the manager of the 3 told the pies they would have to match the deal if travis was to play with them.
I bet Eddie had a fair bit to do with this deal, i could just see him telling their guys to sign him up at all costs to stick it up us. Well we may just have the last laugh, if he is as good as Jason and on $200,000 in years 3 and 4 they can have him.
-
If the reporter who reported this was Craig Hutchison, i don't think he's got much right lately.
-
he is better than Jason and could easily play AFL now ! Hey, which Hutchy are you talky about, Channel 7 Hutchy ?
-
Craig Hutchison aka Boy Blunder
-
I suppose we’ll eventually find out what’s really going on. In the meantime, let’s get ready to ruuuuuuumble.
In the red corner, weighing in at a misleading, heavyweight status, we have Craig Hutchison, spruiking on Talking Footy last week that the papers had been lodged with the AFL and had been signed off by David Cloke, that Travis would be going to Collingwood.
And in the blue corner, weighing in at a status yet to be determined, we have Dwayne Russell, stating on 3AW, on Saturday night, that he had spoken to the Clokes, who said that no deal has been done yet.
A mismatch, or a case of the blind leading the blind?
If Travis has already signed with Collingwood, why keep up the charade? That’s the bit I don’t understand.
I hope this doesn’t go the full painful distance.
-
Hutchy is getting a bad reputation for getting things wrong.
I beleive he was the reporter who wrongly named Kochitzky (sp?) as the player in the middle of the rape allegations earlier in the year.
It would be handy to get a tall solid KPP/Ruckman with a third round pick. If they don't get him I won't be too concerned as long as they use the pick on a talented kid.
-
If Travis has already signed with Collingwood, why keep up the charade? That’s the bit I don’t understand.
The rumour mill says the Clokes wanted to wait a couple of weeks after the U18 championships to give the illusion a decision hadn't already been made before or during the competition.
-
Jackstar tell us ya rumour aye. I liked the look of travis much differnet player than cameron and jason much tougher and stronger at only 17 ::).
I would love to get him. Im hanging on to that lil bit of hope and will dread the day a article comes out saying 3 sets of brothers or sumthin like that.
-
If they don't get him I won't be too concerned as long as they use the pick on a talented kid.
Spot on Harry. As long as they are talented then who cares who we get with our 3rd round pick. No one at Richmond has had a second thought about Jason Cloke once we got Cogs.
-
C'mon Jackstar, release the info man :gobdrop :gobdrop
Do we have any call for :cheers
-
The deal is not done till the ""fat lady sings"" and the lady is s long way off singing :shh
-
Didn't Cloke senior have a blue with Greg Beck? How about we match anything Colonwood offer and throw in the fact that we'll give Beck the ars at year's end :thumbsup
-
Don't have anything to say but i love these new smilies
:help :cheers :sleep :bow :scream :thumbsup :shh :lol :rollin :banghead :gobdrop :santa :birthday
-

:help :help
What song should we be listening out for?
;D ;D
-
We dont want him...he comes with a hell of a lot of baggage. Let him go to the scum so they can have the entire family.
-
Oh come on tell us what the secret is please jackstar.
-
Let pimp daddy david cloke screw the pies over 4 a third time, we can do without cloke s thanks, does anyone remember 1983, he is/was always after the cash.
-
Travis and David were at the Collingwood-bulldogs game tonight.
-
According to the Hun, Eddie will announce on The
footy Collingwood Show that the Pies will take Travis Cloke brother under the father-son rule. Riverting television! :sleep
-
I heard that Eddie used to be a teacher at Wesley in the 80s and has an admission to make :thumbsup
-

Well it's official :sleep
Interesting to see who we eventually pick up with our third round pick (#37). If it's another Coughlan then who cares.
-
Good to see David and his over-rated offspring enjoying the razle dazzle of eddie and the colonwood show tonight.
I guess Travis is yet to prove himself and in fairness could turn out to be a real player but as for the other 2.......... :lol
-
I heard that Eddie used to be a teacher at Wesley in the 80s and has an admission to make
I bet Rob Wiley is glad he left Wesley at the beginning of the '80s
Who needs any of the cloke kids - i hope they're all duds
Just posting to see all the pretty colours lol[/b]

He was a honey wasn't he lol. When Eddie asked who he supported, for sure i thought he was gonna say the Tiges.
You'd reckon the make-up room could have done a quick fix job to help him out.
He still looked better than Fevola - the new Peter Everitt of footy - aka dickkhead lol

ROFLMFAOOOOOOOOOOO@thinking he would support the Tiges, I thought the same thing Froarer.

Who cares?
I only watched the FS last night to see this "announcement".
There was David saying "we" chose C'wood because we thought it was in Travis' best interests"
I really do wonder if Travis was asked what "he" wanted.
-
I AM SO HAPPY THAT IDIOT AND HIS FAMILY ARE NOT INVOLVED WITH OUR CLUB................
sorry to scream but seriously I was sick of this whole saga...we dont want people like that at our club, we carried him to his 300 and now we are going to carry one son and his entire family...get the stuff out!
Im for real father-sons.....not the crap served by Jason...Cameron and now Travis.
-
Never realised how much of a dropkick david really is.
I would of liked to have travis at richmond he can play and would of loved to get aother big body into our defence but hey you cant change it now lets hope we get another coughlan
-
stuff THE CLOKES.
What a bunch of dropkicks.
Pick 37 is still a valuable pick and I'm glad in a way that wer'e not wasting it on a dud Cloke.
-
In hindsight, looking at how it has panned out, I wish Miller had just told Cloke to stuff himself and stuff the fruit of his loins, from the get-go.
Fancy feeding Cloke senior's ego like we have, only for him to turn around and give us the big-a.
I sooooooooo cannot wait for the Cloke/Shaw dynasty to flop bigtime at colonwood.
-
Maybe Miller was just driving up Travis price?
All Clokes are money hungry douchebags with poo for brains and marry women that arent allowed to live closer to Melbourne than Horsham
-
Gee whizzz!
Its all alittle personal on the Cloke front!
Yes glad our pick 37 will be a 37 and not a 137!
