Title: Supertiger claims tigers recruiting raid for 2005
Post by: PuntRdRoar on June 24, 2004, 03:28:22 PM
Supertiger on Bigfooty has claimed that we will be chasing Grham Polak and another player- a midfielder from another club who he or she didnt want to name. Supertiger did however say the player was a Richmond supporter as a kid, claimed the player is around 20-22 and is uncontracted for 2005...also claimed him to be a gun midfielder.

The only midfielder who comes to mind who was a Richmond supporter as a kid, is around the age bracket claimed and is considered a gun by many people is ....

Luke Hodge from Hawthorn- now im not sure if the player is Hodge but im not sure who else sort of fits the criteria! Anyone wanna play the guessing game?

Whoa!!! Luke hodge would be awesome. Has some nutiness about him. But getting polak and hodge that is a #1 and a #5 draft picks from previous years. We would have to give up heaps. And i dont wanan lose our priotiy picks.

If hodge comes can we get nathan lonie to aswell :). Only other guy i can think of is campbell brown he went for richmond but he isnt a gun midfielder is he now?

I was gonna say James Bartel TR, because he was a Richmond supporter and is a midfielder.  He just re-signed at the end of last year, not sure how long for.

a mate of mine spoke to Hodge not too long ago, and he said that he was/is a mad tiger supporter and that he'd love to play for the tigers.

He would be a good get but I'm unsure what I'd give for him.  He's appears to be injury prone and I haven't really seen him play that much.

I wouldn't give a first rounder for him.

And we wouldn't have anyone we could offer as a straight swap.  Perhaps Johnson, but his age would be against him.  Probably throw someone like Rodan/Zantuck/Fiora/ in a package.

Or maybe swap soemone like Tivendale or Bowden plus a late draft pick for him.

Or maybe a straight swap for Nichols.

Robert Murphy used to be a Richmond supporter, but I doubt you'd get him away from the Bulldogs now.

Hodge is ok, a little less talented than Bowden in my opinion. Nothing special. I don't think he is worth chasing after. If we do, we better not give up draft picks for him.

Hodge was a first pick remember. So i think that hawthorn will want as many young picks as possible. Best case scenario let him leave the club and we get him pre season pick #1 if the hawks dont wanna trade fairly. Straight swap for nicholls is unfair on us so they can chuck in Nathan Lonie aswell  ;D

Exactly right Wrenny.  If his contract expires at the end of the year let Miller have a word in his ear about going into the PSD.  Every other club does it and it's about time we did.

We just need those Hawthorn pricks to win a few games and us to lose em all, so they leap frog over us.  This would fall apart if Hawthorn had first pick in the PSD.

I don't think it would HarryH man.

A player who nominates for the pre-season draft cannot be re-drafted by his old team.

It is Hodge the player supertiger was talking about.... he was in the hawks board in BF stirring the pot.

LOL

Is that right ?

Wasn't aware of that.

If that's the case and Hodge's contract expires, Miller should get in his ear now.  Because from what my mate told me, Hodge is still a MAD tiger.

I think I'll send Miller an email about this.  anyone got his email address.

My mate doesn't know him.  He just saw him out one night.  My mate always approaches players to have a chat - he has no shame.  He was very surprised how Hodge was talking about how he loved the Tigers.

My mate has also seen a few tigers out on the town and reckons Zantuck is a prick.  Say's Newman, Tuck and Dragga are great blokes.

He once got an evil stare from Frawley when he questioned why Rodan was on the bench for so long.

In the PSD we can go as hard as we want for young out-of-contract quality players unless they're asking for ridiculous amounts of $$$ or far too long contracts. However definitely NOT in the National draft. Guys like Polak and Hodge would cost first round draft picks - A BIG NO NO as we've learnt from past experience. Sure they might be great but they don't improve us as a team.

Luke's been to my pub a few times in the last couple of weeks...actually, most of the hawks have. I even sang Happy Birthday for his 20th :P. I might have to have a whisper in his ear next time I see him.  ;D

3aw had on the player manager of Luke Hodge and Luke Ball both of whom are out of contract at the end of the year. He said Ball would be staying at the Saints but made an interesting comment about not recommending Hodge to stay at Hawthorn if there's a change in their board (based on his opinion of challengers Don Scott and especially another former Hawthorn board member whose name escapes me atm).

Talking hypotheticals with a few of the regulars at the pub last night, and one mentioned that a very close friend of his had been approached to be the new president of Hawthorn, by Don Scott's regime. Also mentioned Terry Daniher being invited to the meeting, as possible new head coach. Take that for what you will...
